- To view stare at the stereogram type image and let your eyes go out of focus. Another way is to put the screen close to your eyes and slowly pull away and the effect should appear. If struggling try watching in a smaller screen setting.
An autostereogram is a single-image stereogram (SIS), designed to create the visual illusion of a three-dimensional (3D) scene from a two-dimensional image. In order to perceive 3D shapes in these autostereograms, one must overcome the normally automatic coordination between accommodation (focus) and horizontal vergence (angle of one's eyes). The illusion is one of depth perception and involves stereopsis: depth perception arising from the different perspective each eye has of a three-dimensional scene, called binocular parallax.
The simplest type of autostereogram consists of horizontally repeating patterns (often separate images) and is known as a wallpaper autostereogram. When viewed with proper convergence, the repeating patterns appear to float above or below the background. The well-known Magic Eye books feature another type of autostereogram called a random dot autostereogram. One such autostereogram is illustrated above right. In this type of autostereogram, every pixel in the image is computed from a pattern strip and a depth map. A hidden 3D scene emerges when the image is viewed with the correct convergence.
Autostereograms are similar to normal stereograms except they are viewed without a stereoscope. A stereoscope presents 2D images of the same object from slightly different angles to the left eye and the right eye, allowing us to reconstruct the original object via binocular disparity. When viewed with the proper vergence, an autostereogram does the same, the binocular disparity existing in adjacent parts of the repeating 2D patterns.
This was cute
Wow! The black and white bird and butterflies around flowers is remarkable!!
Squirrel with an accorn,I think.
The plane is INCREDIBLE!! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟!!
I remember these from years ago. Love them! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
When I was a child I would blank stare off into space while in thought. My mother would 'snap' me back out of the state. I found it so comforting when I first came across one of these books. I guess holding a state of focus could be a skill. So different and cool. Glad to see others "see it" too.
I remember this kind of thing in the 80’s 90’s at the mall and sell them I couldn’t see it .
Love from India ..90s kids most magical moments are here 🥰 thank u
Always enjoy these 🙂
Some of the most clear examples I have ever witnessed. Nice upload.
Always fascinated these Fred.....take care mate...... Bob.....
Cheers Bob
Top man, Fred! Managed to keep watching without stopping to get the 3D effect while I was only quarter the way through!!!! I have a poster in the loft of the statue of liberty somewhere. Used to love these. Many thanks for the memories.
Fred that was a trip! I found once my eyes adjusted to the first all the others just came straight up !!
The effect is impressive on a large TV. Even at 6 feet from the screen the images are popping out. I love stereograms.
Dolphin action!
Cannot now or ever have been able to make anything out of these,no matter what I do. Maybe you guys are using something I don't have lol
Gary try putting your nose almost to the screen , relax your eyes out of focus, slowly pull your face away and let your eyes focus on their own.
Me either Gary.
Squirel, airplane, lion, tea cup, dolphins, toucan bird, buildings, EUREKA, bird and butterfly in flower garden, Liberty statue. Just beautiful, sorry I'm, Puertorrican my spelling in not that good.
Very good!
Squirel, airplane, lion, dolphin, bird i think, buildings and sail boats, bird and butterfly, statue of liberty
Other way is to let your eyes cross and let the two images you create by doing this blends together so overlapping parts blend together, you may need to tilt your head slightly to make this happen. Once you have done it this way you can see others almost instantly.
Nice one Fred. :-))
First one of the Squirrel was one of the best I have seen.
I thought Eureka and the Dolphin one were the easiest. Takes me a lot longer than 10 seconds to go properly crossed eyed on some of them. I bet old Clarence the lion would have no trouble.👍👍😊
Lady Liberty!
Yeah, used to have books and books of them :-))
I still like them after all these years.
I have to be tired to see them
I've seen the toucan before about 3 years ago.
Caucer with a cup.
Here's a story for you Fred in the Shed. True story. I got lost two times picking up my Honey bees here in Nothern MN. Nice country drive, lost and lost...
So I pull over and take map out that was before. I couldn't read the damn thing. It didn't matter how close I put it I'm 49. To friends not fiends across the pond.
Guess it comes to us all. Reading glasses time bud.
@@CB-RADIO-UK i couldn't see the damned hwy numbers, the map was totally useless. Yay for me.
Fred’s bored
Go do some gardening or build a home brew antenna such as a magnetic delta loop for 11m and then ship it out to me in the Philippines
Cheers
And the word EUREKA
I used hell’s smoke did you get cancer from it I started reading stuff and I’m terrified
LOL no.
I'm literally 100% convinced you're all lying attention seekers.
Need more than 10 seconds
Just pause the vid :-)
