Coming in here years later - I'm so proud of you. I hope you get everything you want out of life, and I would nothing more than give you a hug. Bless you!
Jake Bain, I am so proud of you for sharing your story and inspiring others to be true to themselves. I have enjoyed watching your success on the football field but was truly moved by your speech at assembly. I am so glad that Cole has a friend like you who is willing to take personal risks for the greater good. I wish you all the best, Kelli Dornfeld
As a National Lecturer on LGBTQ Civil Rights and Equality to high schools, colleges and universities I want to thank you for this video and you speaking your truth. I am sorry you have had to deal with the hate, but know me with countless others send you unconditional friendship and love to you. Thank you for being brave and speaking your truth. Reach out anytime to me if you ever need it. I hope our paths may cross one day. Keep sharing your message. - Greg
You showed so much courage in your speech. It's not easy to "live out loud". It's people like yourself, getting out there, front & center, letting others know that being themselves is possible. I hope you keep seeing positive changes in your life.
What an inspiring and very brave young man. Today is the anniversary of when I met my life partner 36 years ago and we have lived together ever since. It was so very different back then for two men to be living together and society has come such a long way, in some sense, but yet still has a long way to go. People like you Jake can inspire others and make such a different, so keep going. I've just watched your video with Hunter and have subscribed to that channel and I look forward to following your lives together. The best of luck from the UK.
I just watched your "This is us" video with Hunter and I am only seeing this speech now! WOW, my mind is blown and my heart was aching the whole speech. So much courage and such a good role model for others. I thank you and I am so glad that you did this both for you and for others. I also came out very publicly on the cover of a magazine in Iceland (where I am from) when I was 17 and that was very difficult! I experienced all the things you talk about but I am now very glad I did that. Some of my best friends today got the courage to come out after that article and the "bad" I went through was then worth it!
You are unbelievably brave. I can't even fathom the amount of courage it took you to stand up there and do this. Thank you for using your voice to help change the world. ❤️
I came from your channel with Hunter💕 I couldn't believe how brave you are to be able to tell this speech to the entire school. I just want to give you a big hug💓 I'm in highschool now, I'm openly bi (bisexual and bigender lol) and I'm so lucky to have so many supportive friends. I've had moments like this before, coming out to people and ending up cry-talking the whole thing...(especially I had to come out twice to people cuz I came out as bi before knowing that I'm not cis 😩) I'm kinda in the opposite situation where I'm out to the school but not with my family. I study abroad, and I'm from a country where no one talked about this publicly at all. I'm sure my family will eventually get to it, but it's just not now😣 I hope no one would ever need to come out in the future🏳️🌈
Amazing! Such powerful words and so impactful! Your leadership, bravery and honesty will have a long and lasting effect on the lgbtq community!!! ❤️❤️❤️🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
That must have taken so much courage. I mean it's so difficult in societies of countries like the United States just imagine being gay and INDIAN. I LIVE it. This speech made me cry. Though I am out to a few friends of mine and they have been supportive. It still feels like i am going back into the closet when i meet someone new and try to hide my identity. I am moving to college in a few months and can't imagine going back into the closet for a long time and coming out again to a new bunch of friends. Power Love and respect to other members of the community. I know it's tough but we are tougher ❤️
Never forget you are so loved by a whole community worldwide. You have my absolute respect for having the courage to do what I haven't done (yet). Much love and many kisses from Brazil
ugh, jake. this was amazing. and honestly, i cried with you. not because you cried. not only at least. not because of how brave you were. and you were. really really brave. but because of how honest and true you were. this place, this world, isnt perfect. far from it. this world isnt kind either. but... this world has only one chance to become a better place. by people like you telling other people their truth. a man i highly respect said "only stories can change hearts. and only hearts can change minds." (d. l. black) and he is right. nothing will ever change if people continue deciding to shut up. me, a queer femme in a wheelchair, saw myself confronted with the fact of being a lgbtqia+ community member several times in my life. and if there are some things ive learnt, then it would be that there is nothing bigger, nothing more amazing and nothing more fulfilling than the miracle of love. of being loved. of love someone. of the heartache and the pain that sometimes comes with it. fully and equally. to look into the eyes of the person you love and see their kindness and understanding shining through. to take the hand of your significant other while walking through the streets after a day out. there is no way in hell i would allow someone to take that away from me by sharing hate and fear. no way in hell will i allow people to make me shut up. because we can only change things by using the ability to communicate and to listen. and if there is just one single person who benefits from me doing so, it's all worth it a thousand times. because thats how we can change the world and make it a better place. make a difference. i have so much respect for you and your partner. youre doing great. 🌹🌹
Thank you brothers How are you doing today brother? You are very inspiring! I'm gay, but I'm not out maybe because I have cerebral palsy and I'm in a wheelchair! My name is Rusty.
Wow. That took guts. You should be very proud of yourself. Don't let haters get you down they are beneath you. Mad respect.
Amen!

Way to go, Jake! I wish there were more people like you in this world! I'm literarily sitting here applauding.
