Great video thanks! beautiful precision in this and your other projects.
In the process of building one of these myself based on this, with the addition of an expansion spring so the chuck assembly is suspended clear of the workpiece when no pressure applied. Also a 'shaft collar' fitted to one of the rails can be used as an adjustable depth stop.
As some others have mentioned parts are a little tricky to find but I eventually managed to track down 'linear motion bearings' and a 'drill spindle assembly', aluminium plate can be bought cut to size and stainless rod is widely available for the rails.

This is so awesome. The workmanship is so educational. ... The idea to use a "Table Drill Spindle High Accuracy Unpowered Spindle Assembly for Table Drill DIY" is super cool. This would be extra fly if on a X Y table mount so you could lock in the start and drill multiple hole at one time. This is so cool it is giving me head aches.

Excellent work. The only thing is a magnetic drill guide/stand is used for drilling steel, not wood. Defeats the purpose of the magnet.

it's an excellent drill guide. the magnetic base allows you to use weight to enhance stability. could also use a wider/longer aluminum bottom plate to make it easy to clamp and a 2-way mill vise type of interface for micro-adjustability after clamping

Yes, I agree, the design turned out to be of high quality. Especially for precision work. But here I am concerned about one question - you probably have milled pieces of aluminum and bearings in housings on every corner? We have these things cost a lot of money. The price of such a homemade product will be comparable to an inexpensive drilling machine. Thanks for the idea. Best regards from Russia.

    • @jisakukobo

    Simply put...GENIUS!
I have one question though. I've searched to find the bearing housing for the chuck arbor, not the linear bearings for the guide rails but the rotational bearing block. (of course I'm assuming you didn't extrude the aluminum in your shop!) Would you please share the information for this component? Incase my description is unclear, it's the piece you are holding in your left hand at 9:27 into the build. Obviously I must build this robust, precision, drill guide.
All of your builds are truly enlightening and educational.
Thank you so much for sharing your skills with the world...again, GENIUS!

Specialist tools? Most of that stuff is shop-made out of plywood and tons of talent. There's nothing there that is a "specialist" tool that wasn't first created with basic tools (drill, saw, etc). Granted, it's high precision, but still "home made" with basic tools.
