Holding up McMahon for money? If you're referencing that 1999 Intercontinental match at a PPV, JJ was in his right to ask for more money because he had bargaining chips. Don't drink the koolaid, man.

People here forget WWE owns WCW, therefore owning Jarrett's history and accolades in WCW as a solid main eventer and WCW champ. I like him, dude's well-rounded.

    • @dkupke

Credit where it’s due, JJ was always a solid hand in the ring and could scrape a decent match out of just about anybody. But he was never main event marterial, it was a mistake to make him WCW champion and TNA didn’t start to flourish until he stepped way to the back. And on that note, at the time WWE mended the fence there was a real possibility of TNA dissolving and they probably hoped he could be useful in acquiring the tape library for the Network. Never happened.

IMO-he deserved it. Whatever else can be said, JJ has had a prolific career both as a performer and a promoter. NWA, WWE, WCW, and then went on to start his own promotions, one of which had a short but prominent run as the only other real competitor to WWE in its time. And there were good reasons for WWE to mend the fence; they own WCW’s library, which means they own a big part of his career. For Network content, he has plenty to offer in terms of interviews and commentary on WCW. And at the time they inducted him there seemed to be a real possibility that TNA/Impact was going to totally dissolve, and they probably were hoping he could be useful in helping to acquire the tape library-again, for the Network, even if that ended up not happening.

This was the first time WWE has shocked me since the pipebomb. My guess is that this is a thank you for Jeff keeping Russo around despite TNN ordering them to have nothing to do with that piece of s*** which ended their only massive push to being a legit #2 to WWE. Either that or a big thank you to being their only successful developmental fed between the heyday of OVW and NXT.

Soooooooo, they are going to have Kurt Angle and Jeff and Karen Angle/ Jarrett in the same room together for a couple of hours together. Yeah, Corny needs to be there for that. As for Jarrett being inducted, I wouldnt say he deserves it but he was a player in both The Attitude era and the Monday Night War. Not a huge player but he was a champion of some sort during the whole thing. He founded TNA, and brought stars like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe to national stages, as well as giving another alternative to WWE and work for wrestlers that had left WWE. His ring work was so-so. His promos were dull and formulaic. Most of his feuds were boring. Then again, Koko B Ware is in, so congradulations Double J.

Of all the potential candidates that people have wanted to go in to the Hall of Fame for years now... they go to Jeff Jarrett. No disrespect to Jeff, I just never saw that coming. Like everyone else. I never even hated Jeff as a performer or personality, I thought he was good for the roles he was given in the WWF and WCW, he had a lot of uphill battles to get over and stay over throughout the 90s. And I have to wonder who within the WWE has been behind a lot of these odd choices in the last few years but I'm leaning towards Triple H pushing for many of them being that he's so much of a wrestling historian. Vince's perspective of the wrestling industry outside his bubble is very skewed in his own favor but Hunter seems like he'd look at it a little more unbiased from a wrestler's point of view.

Alan Rizkallah Jeff Jarrett has a long career that spans to the early 1980's, he is a third generation wrestler, his dad was a huge promoter for mid South-Memphis wrestling, and he was very popular in the Attitude Era, he was way over and drew some money, and sold huge merchandise with his slap nuts T-Shirts and with his catch phrases and his over guitar, hitting people over the head with them. He wrestled for 4 major companies mid-South Memphis wrestling, CWA wrestling, WCW, WWE, and the founder of TNA. He deserve it alot. He has a 33 year career, longevity, stellar career, accomplishments, Rookie of the year 1986) AAA mega championship)AWA southern tag team champion 4 times,) CWA Heavyweight champion 1 time)
CWA/AWA international tag team champion 2 times)

WWE tag team champions with Owen Hart) 1 time)
      WWA world champion 1 time)

      ⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆
If that don't make you hall of fame worthy then I don't know what will. Those are extraordinary accomplishments from meny territories, and 3 major companies, one happens to be the biggest company. And meny indy world titles. He does deserve this hall of fame career....33 year career is long enough.

Pisto75666 it's Bret''s group sure but Owen's widow has the rights to his likeness and she won't allow it regardless she'd probably sue the WWE and Bret if they tried to include him most likely the Hart Foundation would be as a tag team with Bret and Jim Neidhardt only Davey Boy either by himself or with Dynamite Kid as the British Bulldogs and Brian Pillman by himself

is Jerry Jarrett in there? Now HE deserves it... Jeff, eh, not so much... then again, the fucking Godfather/Papa Shango/Kama the Supreme Fighting Machine is in there, so... (shakes head and throws hands up in the air)

    • @junegiovanni6475

Tony's Fishing, Gaming & Guitars so the godfather doesn't deserve why? He has been wrestling since 1988, and was apart of the wwe biggest era and he was over and became a household name. He has had a long pro wrestling career...1988-2003. He made a impact with his gimmicks, papa shango was over. Godfather was huge back in the day. Why you don't think he doesn't deserve it is beyond me. You don't have to be a extraordinary technical wrestler, or a spot fest wrestler to be inducted, its contributions and accomplishments and being over or drawing and just a long career. And the fans loved him back then.

If Cornette is saying to not be negative.......damn, you must pretty damn negative. I like Jeff Jarrett in the HOF. We all know that the WWE HOF is not on the same level as the Cauliflower Alley Club as HOF status goes....hell, it's not even up there with the WON HOF. And I'm simply saying that because those two HOF are specifically meant for inductees that had great careers in pro wrestling in one way or another or contributed to the pro wrestling business. The qualifications for one to be inducted into the WWE HOF is mainly about popularity. We all know this. The Godfather got into the HOF, but not as Charles Wright or his other characters....he got in as The Godfather. This is because that character was popular enough during ARGUABLY the most popular era in the history of the Capital Wrestling Corporation/WWWF/WWF/WWE. But if we are to judge on "credentials", as well as overall ability, Jeff Jarrett is much more qualified to be in a HOF than the Godfather. However, as we all know, the WWE HOF is mainly about popularity, not overall skill or contribution. Another qualification for the WWE HOF, specifically during the last 5-10 years, is having overcome some sort of PUBLIC life struggle. Specifically those individuals that had overcome their struggle with assistance, whether through finances and/or resources, from the WWE. Over the last 5-10 years, there seems to be an inductee that fits this description as well. And that makes sense because the TYPICAL wrestlers being inducted at the moment are performers from the 1970-2000 era that were part of that era that had issues with substance abuse and alcoholism. People love a redemption story. And WWE knows that.

WON HOF is no different than WWE HOF its both used for publicity purposes. why else would Meltzer put a wrestler who is 35 years old in that is still active on tv.

    • @diggitydave75438
      @diggitydave75438 6 років тому

OLE SammyOLE i know. That's why i said it the way I did, that it was definitely no cauliflower alley and not even up there with the WON. The WON is at least a HOF that journalists and fans get to pick. It feels more like a true HOF based on accomplishments, rather than popularity. Meltzer is not the only vote for the WON HOF also. If the majority of journalists and fans did not think that 35 year old was worthy, he wouldn't have got the votes. And are you referring to AJ Styles? He's 40, not 35. The real HOF is the Cauliflower Alley Club. The George Tragos and Lou Thesz in Iowa is as well. I mention the Cauliflower Alley Club version due to it's history, plus it's ran by wrestlers. In my opinion that is the one that matters the most. The Tragos/Thesz HOF is gaining some credibility. The WON is just a more credible version of the WWE HOF.

Dave S okay then stone cold had great accomplishments and Shawn Micheals also, I'm sure they would beg the defer on your assessment. Stone cold has said he is honored to be in the WWE Hall of fame, alot wrestlers want to be in the wwe hall of fame. Why down grade it. Those other hall of fame that Dave Meltzer is apart of didn't even want sting in there hall of fame, and he has a long stellar career with great matches and world titles and accomplishments. I'm glad wwe honoured him and saw his accomplishments, WWE is also about accomplishment and a stellar careers and contributing to the company. Also wrestlers who made a impact and drew money and were legends. Everyone of those wrestlers in this class of 2018 deserve the Hall of Fame. Causel fans don't know what a cauliflower Alley club is or WON, they can careless, they want to see wrestlers they grew up with being inducted and people who they know. At least wwe honors them and gives them a huge amazing ring with real diamonds and a beautiful plaque and honors them. Those wrestlers feel very honored and genuine, they take it serious and want to make speeches. Alot of wrestlers want to be part of the wwe hall of fame. It's kind of a spit in the face of pro wrestlers like stone cold, shawn Micheals, ric flair when you down them and try to take those moments from them, becAuse stone cold has said on his podcast, I dont give a shit what people say about the WWE Hall of fame, I'm honored to be apart of it, its my hard work, blood, sweat, tears, that I put in that company and I'm blessed to be part of it, it's real to me. So meny amazing wrestlers. It's not all about publicity, thay mite want to honor them for there work and thank them. The speeches are always touching and they talk from the heart, its so disrespectful to down play the wwe Hall of Fame there apart of. To them it's real not fake. Why try to be so disrespectful towards the WWE because they want to honor wrestlers. And more people know of the WWE Hall of fame then those other ones, WWE allows causel fans and fans everywhere to be apart of it. A ball of fame is a special moment for wrestlers, taking it away from them because you think it's not legitimate and fake, to them it's real and a honor.

June giovani It's still not a true HOF. It's about popularity and selling tickets to the awards ceremony. Yeah, Stone Cold also does work fot the WWE so he is gonna say it's great. Look at all the pro wrestlers that would disagree with your statement about the WWF HOF. Also the WON HOF is very similar to the WWE's as it is not a true HOF. But since it is voted on by both fans and journalists, it is based more on accomplishments than popularity. Also, Dave Meltzer does not decide who goes in. He is one vote out of many. The Cauliflower Alley Club is a true HOF with a building that shows performers accomplishments. It was started by people in pro wrestling and they do not put people in based on WWE BIAS like the WWE HOF. The Tragos/Thesz HOF is very similar. Again true HOF because they are not based around WWE popularity and who Vince feels is worthy. The WWE HOF didn't even put Lou Thesz in right. They put him in with a bunch of other wrestlers in their old legends wing. As for casual fans.....this is a pro wrestling HOF, it is meant for fans of pro wrestling. Tired of this casuals argument. As for the drawing money part.....really dude. And it's not a spit in the face. Calm down. The WWE HOF is an event to sell tickets. And honestly I could say your comments about the Cauliflower Alley Club is spitting in the face of those wrestlers. Especially since the Cauliflower Alley Club HOF had been around 30 years before the WWE one existed.

Speaking truth to dumb IWC lore. He was owed money, like all guys in WWE were, for PPV, royalties, etc...and his contract was up, but WWE needed an extra day, so he said "no problem, just give me what I'm owed...so I don't get shorted when I'm gone" That's not holding up...

      1. WWE could easily said no to the money Jarrett was owed. Then created a new IC Championship title and held a tournament for the new IC Championship title.
      2. Jim Ross was in charge of Talent Relations at the time and it is JR's fault that Jarrett's contract ran out the night before the PPV (hence a contract dispute). It is also the booking's fault that Jarrett was still the IC Champion before the PPV.
      3. Just like Madusa, Jarrett was the victim of being a champion in WWE and WWE forgetting who their title holders are and releasing their champion (Madusa) or letting their contract run out (Jarrett). Both had wait two decades before being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame.
