In concept, Twisted Metal 2 is a demolition derby which permits the usage of ballistic projectiles. Players choose a vehicle and an arena-or a series of arenas in the story mode-to engage in battle with opposing drivers. A variety of weapons are obtainable by pick-ups scattered throughout the stage. The objective of the game is to be the last remaining player.

Because you played on an old CRT. These games were meant to be played on TVs of the era. Only way to get it looking good on HD screens is to upscale the resolution with either a HDMI adapter or through emulation.
I think he just meant this was probably the pinnacle of gaming graphics back then. We didn’t know how good graphics would eventually be. I remember playing ps2 games thinking dang these graphics are so good. Looking back, they weren’t very good but they were for that time

@@dr_edward_richtofen69 most ps1 games looked a little rough even back then lol, I remember my friends and I making fun of the graphics after playing the n64, we called it paper playstation. We only had praise for the ps2 though when that came out.
@@Hallo_215 It has nothing to do with CRT TVs. Its just our imagination and how brains memory works. PS1 resolution was 512 × 240 it was same quality back then as today but decades ago we had nothing to compare to, that's it. ))) Grass was greener, ice creamtested better )))

I played this like 25+ years ago as a teen and loved it so much. Forgot how bangin' the soundtrack is.

Not quite in tears but a smile never left my face watching this. I'd say it's closer to 30 yrs since I last played. It was the last thing I did before bed every single night for 2 yrs. A quick run thru as SweetTooth then off to bed. It was the only Twisted Metal version I liked. I'm real close to buying a PS1 just so I can play this. I even tried to like the new TV series but after 3 episodes I was done with that.

OMG! You've sent me 25 years back into the past! In 1996 I discovered the first part of this game thanks to a schoolmate that had PS1 and showed it to me. Then, in my neighborhood there was a lady that would rent her PS1 consoles (such is life in the tropics!) and along with my cousin we played the second part, I mean this game and through many Sunday evenings we played until we made it till Hong Kong where Axel killed one of us and made us lose our last life. We were so frustrated and sad we never tried again, maybe we'll buy a secondhand PS1 and try it again... Love and great memories from Lima, Peru 🇵🇪.
One of the best Twisted Metal games ever made. Been playing that game for hours even destroying things and my enemies especially Grasshopper. Nothing cannot matched this game.

I was in the fifth grade when this came out and one time I snuck it into school in my pencil box to look at the cover during class
Such a classic. I still play almost every other day and I am 43! Yes indeed the best TM ever made. I wish they would do a revamped edition for PS5. Love the sound effects. The scream as you destroy an opponent is so satisfying. Rockets are still cool to watch sore through the air. Napalm is a fun weapon to use, challenging but if you hit it just right it is so satisfying to see your opponent engulfed in flames. Soecials are unique. I love shadows shoot and detonate. It just adds a whole different dimension to the game.
This just needs a graphical remaster and a slight little tuned up then just released how it is 🥵🥵

Man I would love to see a remaster or even a complete remake with PS5 graphics!!! I wouldn’t mind adding extra characters, levels, or unlockable players…..I played this game damn near everyday with my neighborhood friends 😢

my my sister, cousin and i would get shipped out to grandma and grandpas house for 2 weeks out of the year every year to a trailer park in Palmdale, CA. They had a Playstation with this game in the room we stayed in and i dont think ive ever played a game more in my life than this one. Seeing this brings back some good memories. i stil get shellshock trying to defeat Minion. Those were the days.

Twisted Metal 2 was my all time favorite next to Twisted Metal 4…..I spent sooooo much of my free time playing this game with my friends lol. Same with Twisted Metal 4…..I’ll always remember those days 😭 I know it wasn’t as good…..but I also loved Vigilante 8!

My dad loved any combat game, he'd let me stay up cause we would play together. This, NFS III, and NFL QB Club 97 when we first got PSX. My cousin loved Crash Bandicoot, she helped me beat Sonic and Super Mario World too

Back in the 2000s we use to play this among a group of 4 people. If you survived last, you keep playing. If you got killed first, we changed the player. And we were there eating chips, drinking soda and talking about life while videoplaying. Man those were very good times indeed.
I just found this game at goodwill. It was scratched as fuck but I thought “eh, why not, it’s only like 50 cents” and I just popped it in the Ps3 a few minutes ago. What a fun game man

I miss this. This game is the sole reason I got a ps1 (rather--begged my mom for one for months). I played my friends and was like yo I NEED this. Looking at it now I don't know how those pixels seemed so plentiful...
Because there is more than graphics to games. The fun factor for so many games is just such a high standard. Many new games just lack it.

I remember having twisted metal 1 and wanting this game SOOOOO bad when it came out. I ended up trading a couple games to my friend for it. So worth it. I beat it with every character and blew up everything I could on every map.
One of my favorite games as a kid. Tm2 was the best imo. Still have cd from my childhood. Just hooked up ps2 and played it with my son for the first time, literally my life coming full circle lol

I remember me and my brother always playing this as kids, we barely knew what the hell we were doing but we'd just always screen snipe and kill each other nonstop. I favored just because it was badass guy with two huge wheels, my brother always picked Mr slam.

It's an amazing game don't get me wrong but I remember my dad, well ex dad played this game a lot when I was a kid and he will be all super focused and if anyone and I mean anyone disturbs him while playing this game he gets super pissed off. Not to mention if he dies once and I mean once, he will quit the game and try again till he beats the game completely without any deaths. That's how serious my ex father was back then and the same goes for Twisted Metal Black whenever he plays that game. My ex dad's favorite character he likes to play is Thumper.
Haven't touched this since 2000 and I could still demolish every single one of you.
