This happened in my life. My husband was very ill. I asked Heavenly Father to spare him until Christmas so that the entire family could say goodbye. Christmas night, after everyone said goodbye, and I said my nightly prayer, I said to Father that I was grateful that he had answered our prayers, and that if it was time for him to go, we were willing for him to go. Within an hour he had passed away.

This came up at a perfect time for me. A 4 yr old girl is suffering greatly at this time with cancer. I’ve prayed for her so hard but feel I need to pray for deliverance for her rather than healing…

Thank you for explaining this. Of course GOD knows the time ,Paul explains this in ecclesiastics but it’s our daily choices with GOd and his promises.
My condolences to everyone here. We are together with GOD. Thank you, Yahweh for everlasting life.

Sometimes blessings are trials of our faith, whether we submit to the will of God or try to force our own will.

Elder Nelson indicated that the Church leaders, the prophets and apostles, have visits or interviews with previous Church leaders, prophets, apostles, etc. They have sure testimonies and, surely, have their callings and elections made sure.

You can find most of the reference by searching in the Church Library for the speaker and the topic or an exact phrase.

Maybe you have been asked this before, but I would very much like to have references for the quotes.

Perhaps searching the Internet with some of the quoted words will yield the complete statements and therefore their sources. I've found many such things in this way. Success!

This topic is challenging to make clear. No one dies before they are supposed to. All die as is prepared for by God, and the appointed time that Christ has paid for. ALL THINGS work together for GOOD unto them that love God. But this topic is fraught with semantic problems. Yes, we can kill ourselves by poor choices--but that does not mean that that is not the appointed way or time that Father has decreed one will die--for their experience and good. I think that many comments have been made, or made within a specific context, that are not well thought out, or can be quoted out of context. The doctrine of the scriptures is quite clear--nothing exists but what Christ and Father have prepared for and paid for. While mourning and sense of loss is truly appropriate and natural, even the sense that a life was "cut short"... we have to eventually stop looking at things from our mortal, fallen, natural, veiled point of view... and embrace exactly what the Lord's point of view is. No one dies if they are not "appointed unto death"--regardless of how they move to the spirit world. Russell M. Nelson's words in this video are most instructive. Alma and Amulek witnessed "untimely death" appointed and directed by the Lord.
