I love to grow nasturtiums! I met a lady once who had nasturtiums all around her house. We were just having a conversation and I picked up a seed, not knowing it was a seed. Botany lesson ensued -- just make a little hole and drop the seed in. Been an avid gardener ever since.
Have you tried climbing nasturtiums? Yours are "bedding plants", you said, so they would be dwarfs. The seeds for climbing nasturtiums--with tendrils and all--are very hard to come by in the shops, nowadays. But I find that if you save the seeds from dwarfs, for a couple of generations, they go back to being climbers again. They do look lovely climbing up a wall. There used to be a children's story--in The Happy Venture Reader--about "The nasturtiums that were too big for their boots". It was about climbing nasturtium seeds planted in some old workboots. The vines took off and climbed up a wall and the whole village thought the house was on fire! The fire brigade had to be called. Haha. Lots of fun! ;)
This is why I love strolling through the comment section. It's like overhearing the most fascinating conversations. Thank you. I hope you are doing well.
NICE VIDEO, I HAVE NEVER TRIED EATING NASTURTUIMS, BUT WILL TRY SOME THIS YEAR,SOUNDS LIKE THEY WOULD BE GOOD ADDED TO A SALAD OR A VEGETABLE WRAP.THANKS AGAIN FOR THE SEED STARTING VIDEO!
Huw, Something is eating by Nasturtuims. They have already done serious damage to two of my plants. Before it gets the others, what ways can I stop the damage. The bugs are very small and dark. (That is probably not much help, but that is all I can see.) Thank for any help.
hi. You may have already gotten a answer since it is now 2018 :-) I would probably think that they are Aphids. a little Dawn soap mixed in water and spray. You can use Nasturtiums as a bait plant around plants such as tomatoes etc.. also.
mystique rose Would be best to dry a week or more. I allow all my seeds 2 weeks drying up on top of kitchen cabinets (like by ceiling) out of the way, to make sure it won’t mold when storing.

It is amazing how I learn something new every day. Thanks showing me those flowers.
i love it .. they can growin any season and don't require much sun , so its good for shady suburban areas
I guess it depends where you live. There are three seasons here that they will not grow.
Do you water them in after you put the seeds in?
Great! I'm getting ready to set out several. Just happened to see your video when I signed in. Appreciate you mentioning the planting depth.
To aid germination you can file the seeds with a nail file.
L.A. helpful tip! Thx
my system is pick up hand full of seeds and throw on ground, if you cant grow these give up, I chuck on any waste land and they grow like mad
they taste great very mild /different. hard to start sometimes? maybe i will soak next time
another tip about growing these is if you put a heat mat under them you'll cut there germination time in half.
How often should you water them?
LOL! The seeds look like brains! Great video. Thank you!
Thank you so much you just helped me figure out what type of flowers that is in my garden bed.
Thanks for sharing your tutorial!

Can you just save time and eat the compost?
AllySuckBlack is back lol
stupid name makes a stupid comment
looks great
You didn't water it?? Lol
they can grow in horrible soil, in shady areas, without a lot of water. also they seem to not like fertilizer or much attention at all.
Terrible narration but good demonstration.
