The greatest improvement to the gene pool was the bicycle. That meant you didn’t just marry someone in your immediate vicinity. I observed this in parts of rural Cumbria. Farming families often had first cousins marrying. I saw the problems with grandchildren with mental or physical problems, or both.

I started working for the South Central Ambulance Service in 2023. There is indeed a problem with wait times for ambulances, hospital queuing, public misuse of ther service and so on. But the real issue seems to be people who cannot get GP appointments and then their problems fester for days, weeks, and months, until they call an Ambulance. Most of the jobs I attend are urgent care, not medical emergencies, but the majority of those people do genuinely need help. A lot of other jobs are mental health related. I worked for several years in another country with a private health sector alongside a public health sector, and I personally think that is the way forward for the UK. The NHS definitely has enough money for the necessary facilities and equipment, it just spends it on exorbitant salaries for top management. The city where I used to work, in another country, had 17 hospitals for a population of 4.2 million, about 5 of those had the full set of disciplines (ER/paed/urology/neuro/maternity/ortho/etc etc) So, it absolutely blows my mind how few hospitals the UK have, and its a first world country. NHS also needs to build more mental health facilities, and hire more psychologists and counsellors. There are serious mental health problems here, not only people taking the piss (looking at managers who can get 6 months of paid (with unsocial) stress leave). NHS should also consider outsourcing health professionals who live in other countries. They can be trained on the UK system, get registered with HCPC, then do online consults wherever they are living. For example, if a psychiatrist living in South Africa is working for NHS online, they would not require the same salary as a psychiatrist here due to lower living expenses in South Africa. I think this could also work for radiologists who review Xrays, CT scans etc.
Another massive issue is the number of patients who get discharged from hospital too soon. I'd say about 20% of the jobs I attend are for people who need to be returned to hospital because they are still too unwell to be place back in the community or don't have enough support to manage in the community. Another thing that should be reviewed is aligning protocols between sectors. For example, if an elderly person has a fall and even slightly glances their head against a wall or something, and they're taking blood thinners (which they usually are) Ambulance protocol dictates a trip to hospital for CT head. But once in hospital, the protocol is different and they might just get turned around and discharged immediately. Another example is an intoxicated person who lacks mental capacity to make safe decisions for themselves. Prehospitally we have to take them to hospital (often against their will) but once at hospital they immediately get discharged because the hospital follows a different protocol. While I know illegal immigration is a big problem in the UK, I don't actually attend too many immigrants. (I guess they have dedicated doctors that work for the hotels where they are put up.) A much bigger issue, in my opinion, is the aging population. About 85% of my calls are for elderly people. Another ridiculous problem is the number of elderly folks I take from their nursing homes to hospital for IV antibiotics. A lot of these folks have dementia and being bundled off to hospital is really stressful for them. It blows my mind that the nurses in these nursing homes are not allowed to administer IV antibiotics. This alone, would save the NHS an enormous amount of money. The scope of practice for health care professionals in South east UK is really low. Where I used to work, abroad, my scope was on the same level as helicopter paramedics in UK. When I came here, my scope was extremely reduced. This means doctors have to action a lot more here than compared to other countries, which places an incredible demand on doctors.
One very apt reference to cousin marriage was the “Only fools and horses” episode that brought reference to it been illegal. Surely we all aren’t just dreaming about the fact it’s already illegal ? Or was it just the fact we grow up civilised and were told not too
What about the cost: massive funding by NHS and Social Services for long term care; and special housing, adapted cars etc. Huge and unnecessary drain on all our services and waste of public money. I always thought it was illegal in the UK; if it is not; rush a bill through Parliament.
The handover process for patients to move from the ambulance into the A&E is ridiculously bureaucratic. It takes an ambulance crew sometimes a couple of hours to finish the process of handing patients over to hospital staff and in that time they simply sit idle at the A&E loading bay

Spot on pal. Put exact same comment on a thread yesterday , the money raised from superhuman efforts by Kevin Sinfield for MND and doesn’t get a sniff. This odious weak man then does. Absolutely disgusting.
Ambulance waiting times would be cured by re-opening the local “cottage” hospitals. They closed our hospital in Weymouth, they closed all the town hospitals to centralise to the county hospital. Across the West country the ambulances are becoming wards as they are parked outside the hospitals because they don’t have the smaller hospitals anymore. The simple answer is to re-open those local hospitals to supply more beds. “Beds” are grossly overpriced by the NHS by accountants. It’s a false premise and management should realise this.
I dont know what member of our RF will be given the job of knighting Khan and which one will suddenly find themselves having another engagement elsewhere.

Or was it just the fact we grow up civilised and were told not too
It's been legal for years.
Queen Victoria did it with Cousin Albert. This is why the RF is so thick.
NOT reverse racism! Racism is racism.
What about the cost: massive funding by NHS and Social Services for long term care; and special housing, adapted cars etc. Huge and unnecessary drain on all our services and waste of public money. I always thought it was illegal in the UK; if it is not; rush a bill through Parliament.
Sadiq Khan is a complete planker.
I can think of a few less polite names for him 😡😡
Too polite Ruby.
Bush innuendos galore 😂😂😂
We have had a new hospital built by use with 250 beds but they have closed two old hospitals with a combination of 300 beds do not lean there lessons
The handover process for patients to move from the ambulance into the A&E is ridiculously bureaucratic. It takes an ambulance crew sometimes a couple of hours to finish the process of handing patients over to hospital staff and in that time they simply sit idle at the A&E loading bay
Best show on the Net ! Dutch fan. Refuse to listen to/read the MSM anymore.
Keep up the brilliant work, never the let the bastards grind you down & cheers from your friends across the North Sea
Probably needs to be planks of the week now
The people that MP was talking about re marrying cousins, also have the highest rate of honour killings in the world, None of that was included in that discussion!
Brilliant show!!!
By the way, I don’t know about the Church of England, but we Catholics need a Papal dispensation in the crazy event we wanted to marry a first cousin.
And, as for cows farting, take a pick at what South Korea and Uruguay are doing.
It's not allowed in the C of E. (I think. Still...........)
"It's not allowed in the C of E. (I think. Still...........)
Sorry. I got confused. It must have been all of this farting.......
Great panel. Love it.
Watching last week's Question Time was excruciating. Once again. Interrupts the speaker she disagrees with to make her point, like anyone cares what she thinks.
Bring on Trevor Phillips. Or Harry Enfield ! 😉
Trevor Phillips from GTA 5 😂
Sophie Raworth should have got the gig...oh for the days of SIR ROBIN DAY!
Well I could think of a good name for the little man but would not say it on the media and it wouldn’t be sir
Hospitals now have marked bays in the corridors, next to the loos and everything 😢
🇦🇺 Hoorah. My highlight of the week. Its 9.30am Saturday in Canberra. So I'll save this for tonight with a pizza and a "couple" of wines. 🤣😁👍
i cannot believe khan would get a Knighthood over Kevin Sinfield
Spot on pal. Put exact same comment on a thread yesterday , the money raised from superhuman efforts by Kevin Sinfield for MND and doesn’t get a sniff. This odious weak man then does. Absolutely disgusting.

There’s no such thing as reverse racism. It’s just racism.
Best channel I have stumbled across. ❤❤❤❤
Love this show, i think you should double up and have 2 planks of the week as so hard to choose a winner.
That tree looks like it’s still in its wrapper 😱
From last year Karen.
I can’t comment on this without risking ending in prison… PMSL :-)
See you there for telling the truth.
I know the feeling!
Most families have that conversation!!
I want people just saying to their faces you are lying whatever you say is a lie just get out now and let the real grown ups takeover!!!
I dont know what member of our RF will be given the job of knighting Khan and which one will suddenly find themselves having another engagement elsewhere.
The sword might slip .
@@phillipcarter8045 took the words out of my mouth 😂
I like @IntelLady and her Another no brainer. She'll go a long way.
Fabulous line up...relatable real people...not box ticking robots...such a relief to know there are men and women who I can listen to instead of fiona bruce clive myrie et al....for goodness sake BRITONS AWAKE!
When we last lived in New Zealand there was an article on the TV news where people were putting their socks on the outside of their shoes down in the South Island to avoid falling over in the ice. So you need two pair of socks, one on the inside of your shoes and one big enough to go over the outside of your shoes. Too easy.
The best entertainment of the week. Thanks Mike for giving us a good laugh
Excellent panel.
I think we should be grateful it’s only cousins ! Instead of sisters !!
When your sister is your mother and it’s your wedding anniversary you know you are Pakistani !!!
Why mug of tea, and not glass of wine? Thanks for the giggle.... 😂😂
@@heidiHiHo2391 The wine is only when Katie Hopkins is on the show !!
@@SIMONWINTER-m6dI think Katie Hopkins is brilliant she speaks her mind no bones about it 😊
@@rosemaryomahony4657 In that case make mine a large glass -cheers !!
The worst thing about the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is the lights. I'm sure they are not from Norway? and it seems to me that they have had the same lights for decades.

@THE-IRON-ROD lol....I know that one! I'm sure my messages disappear into starmers black hole lol 😆 🙃
@THE-IRON-ROD that's a tongue twister 😂
A&E is a complete novelty for these people, you actually see full families there, like a day out, Free ambulance and attention from medical staff. Never paid a penny into the NHS and they'll receive free healthcare until the day they die. Meanwhile my 76 year old Dad has to prove how infirm he his every year to receive his PIP pittance. It's a complete disgrace.
