I'm fostering a wonderful lurcher at the moment, who was rescued from a hare coursing gang. Maggie was confined to my house and garden for 4 weeks, until she had all of her vaccinations, had been chipped, wormed, de-flea'd, and spayed. She was also confined to a long lead during in the garden this period, while I assessed her safety to be let off-lead. Now her spay wounds are fully healed, we have been doing multiple long distance walks ever day on a short lead (she can't be let off-lead because she might end up chasing something and getting lost). These past two weeks, I've been letting her off-lead in the garden and her zoomies are highly entertaining - and fast! She throws a rope toy into the air, chases it, picks it up, throws it again, or just runs laps around my (now completely ragged) lawn. Interestingly, she knows where she should zoom and where she shouldn't (around the pond, for example). At any time, if I call for her to stop, or slow down, she does. She is a wonderfully intelligent dog and hopefully her new home will give her opportunities to run off-lead in a safe space. She clearly needs to burn off energy and absolutely loves it.

Madam, you see our dog.
I love watching our grey do zoomies. She always seems so proud of herself when she’s done. 💕

Thank you 😊 definitely can sleep with eyes open!
Another fab video……..out of interest do you have any experience with Lurchers?
Some... They can vary a lot as it depends on the cross, but do often present similar issues to greyhounds
