Saddicj Adams, I really appreciate your commentary on goalkeeper Robert Mensah, African number one goalkeeper and hope, you’ll endeavor to talk about African XI captain John Eshun, Malik Jabir, Dan Oppong and Yaw Sam among the few players who represented African best XI players in Mexico in 1983. However I’d like to correct on error about Robert Mansah story. He is was killed before Kotoko vs Olympics match in African club cup in the semi finals. Essel Robert Mensah kept the post for Kotoko in both legs. Essel Mensah died recently in Germany. The Kumasi 2nd leg match ended Jones Attuquifio soccer career. Please Cross check your story. I’m pleased to listen to you every week

Was a student at OSEISCO at Asante Akropong and judging the thousands of Ghanaians at the funeral of this great sportsmen, I knew this man was even popular than the President of Ghana. It is a pity that Ghanaians have forgotten him. God bless his soul.

3:28 whoever compiled this list of Ghana’s top players didn’t know what he was doing. There’s no way Kwadwo Asamoah can be counted among the best 33 players from Ghana. No way. Where is Oliver Acquah or Hesse Odamtten at the left-back position? Samuel Osei Kuffuor did well in Germany, but he wasn’t head and shoulders above Seth Ampadu, and Sampson Lamptey at the no. 4 position.
Where is Osei Kofi on that list? And no striker on that list?

9:57 Black Stars. Those I can recollect. I had a newspaper cut-out of this photo when I was a small boy.
    From Left
    1) John Eshun (#5, Captain, Eleven Wise)
    2) John Botwe (‘keeper, Kotoko)
    3) Malik Jabir (#11, Kotoko)
    4) Odame (#4, Kotoko)
    5) Oliver Acquah (#3, Kotoko)
    6) Dan Oppong (#2, Kotoko)
    7) Joe Sam (#9, Kotoko)
    8) Pass (don’t remember him)
    9) Lante ‘Duru’ Frans (‘keeper, Hearts)
    10) Pass (don’t remember him)
    11) Ed Boye?
    12) Yaw Sam (#8, Kotoko)
    13) Joe Ghartey (#6, Hearts)
    14) A. Essuman (#7, Kotoko)
    15) Abukari (#9, Kotoko)
    16) Sunday (#6, Kotoko)
I think this picture was taken after the death of Robert Mensah. I believe it might be the team Ghana took to the 1972 Olympic Games in Germany where Ghana lost 0-4 to E. Germany, 0-4 to Poland and 1-3 to Columbia in the group matches. The matches were all played in the evening and it was cold for our boys, and they were not used to playing under floodlights too at that time (lame excuses, eh?)

Wow! Such a detailed, well-researched documentary, thank you sir! It’s always funny to me when we Africans complain after seeing some of our best talents represent foreign countries.
A team of Kotoko’s caliber or even the GFA couldn’t take care of any of his children or even build a house for them, no statue, no museum, nothing!
And considering that they’ve won the African championship just once since him, Kotoko hasn’t been successful enough to warrant them forgetting about such a talismanic figure! It’s a real shame that his only remembrance is in songs.

Kudos Obama. You doing a great job. First to watch and to comment. 😂. I want to see you when I come to Ghana and I know I will see you at Rasta park during the weekends. That’s my park. I have played on that pitch with a third division team there

The most unfortunate event after the demise of Goalkeeper Robert Mensah was NOT naming the Kumasi Sports Stadium after him. The fact is lsaac Melfah, Robert's killer was hired to kill him by a rival team who deemed Robert Mensah as the pillar behind Kotoko's success. Therefore naming the Kumasi Sports Stadium would have been the greatest honour done to his memory. He was murdered because of Kotoko.
