How many offenses was he convicted of? now he lives in a nice neighborhood, raising his kids. Is he where he is in spite of the government or because if it? I have many British friends. We cannot blame the British of today for the awful history they hold. But they must acknowledge their history and address the legacy of their colonialism. Places like Gibraltar and Northern Ireland are still a deep wound they need to heal. I'm Irish with an ancestral British past.
That presupposes colonialism is a bad thing. To view British imperial history as awful is a point of view, in my view, Britain has little to apologize for.
With an awful history? You sound like a bitter butthurt idiot. Your upset that Ireland has no history of its own. And you insult Britains glorious history.
This is completely wrong. The Australian government gives Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders large welfare payments, free education, preferential selection into universities, free healthcare, job programs and they do care. They even gave the Aboriginals the right to govern themselves in the remote tribal lands once but that was a disaster. Alcoholism, domestic violence and child abuse skyrocketed to the point where the government had to step in. They had to impose dry areas where no sale of alcohol is permitted and these bans are still currently in place. I can say without a doubt that Australian Aboriginals are treated better than any other native community in the world.
I grant your points, but even still, there is a disparity in the prison population and average income. Many communities are poor and have many problems. Many governments have tried 'bridge the gap', and throw heaps of money at the problem but it's not doing much. I'm surprised that they didn't mention the suicide rate, which is several times higher than the white suicide rate (if you need sources, let me know). Just for the sake of education terms like full blood are colonial terms that aren’t useful and the concept of blood quantum is racist and offensive. Aboriginal people that share other ancestries do lose part of their language, or part of culture, of part of their land, we don’t feel part of the pain, or part of the loss our ancestors didn’t get part of a vote of part of slavery. We don’t get a reduced traumatic experience either - we get the full cost and price of the invasion and often have white ancestors due to rape. That’s not to say we all share the exact same experience or that those of us white passing don’t enjoy the privilege of being passing but It’s not up to white peoples or any other peoples to define us as part or full as all Aboriginal people have 65, 000 years of ancestors and blood lines from here. Why Gibraltar, the Falklands and Northern Ireland. They all want to be British all have had referendums in favour of staying part of the UK.

Elmo well it is coming from a irish person so makes sense lol
Come to Australia and spend some time in the Aboriginal communities and near by towns, and see for your selves.
Any Australian, of any race, who chooses to live in the outback would face the same challenges. Cut off by distance from work opportunities, cut off by distance from educational opportunities etc. BTW, there is nothing to stop any Aboriginal from succeeding. Other minorities have similar features and skin colour often darker than (especially mixed race Aboriginals) but they are out there doing the very best they can. Aboriginals can do likewise. Don't look down on them please.
@@Ray-wm8dz I don't think the majority of Aussie's look down on Aboriginals. I would say most the problem is in aboriginal people see them selves and treat others in their communities. The people need to start asking their leaders and activists where is all the money going. Not just 33 billion dollars of Australian government funding but all the tourism and mining royalties. Or why a activist would spend 21 years to change a cheese name , where the pay the rent campaign go's. Lot's of problems in these communities can only be solved by the people in them.
@@uncletomscabin2073 That's a pretty fair assessment of the situation here. However I feel that it is imperative that we, as a people, do not subscribe to the extremely divisive identity politics which seeks to divide us as a nation. We are all Australian and every race here deserves equal rights, privileges and benefits (including rights and access to all land) whatever our race and whenever our ancestors first arrived. Any assistance should always be on the basis of need, never on the basis of race and any entry into courses and jobs should always be on the basis of merit, never on the basis of race. How would you (or anyone) feel if they or their children worked really hard and really smart, got the marks/ qualifications necessary but then lost out to an Aboriginal who wasn't as determined or was individually less intelligent? I wouldn't be happy. Not in the least. Excellence should always be encouraged so that the very best gets the prize. No one wants to run in a race where the winner is already picked.
As part of the first nation community of the Uk, . We demand reparations and compensation from Danish, Norwegian, Swedish Governments, for what the Vikings did to us. Not saying his death was right but it is what it is.
Theft is a crime, amongst many other things. But many crimes are often glossed over and/or sugarcoated-unless the perpetrators are of a darker hue. WRONG is WRONG. So, what’s the penalty for theft (of lands)? Crimes against humanity, globally, from past to present? How about bombing churches, killing children? Shooting elders in church? Or shooting people while shopping for groceries? Shooting kids in school? Or instigating tribal wars (divide & conquer)? Oh..the list goes on. What are the wages for these atrocities? The god complexes…🤦🏾♀️

Why do you think the Australian Labor Party changed the definition
of " Australian aboriginal " ?
When the term "Indigenous people" is used as above why do we not
use the term " multiracial " ?
What percentage of indigenous Australians are full bloods ?( Ans =1 % )
Why would multi racism get politicised ?
It’s us who define who we are, our identities and our family members, clans, mobs.
@@iamchasingghosts You cannot seriously think that somebody with small amounts of aboriginal blood faces the same discrimination as those who are visibly aboriginal. Thats willful stupidity to treat everyone with any aboriginal blood as in the same boat.
@@1313tennisman well if you can point out where I suggested that than perhaps I would bother arguing the point but I didn’t. I think white passing folks face less interpersonal racism but not less systemic racism. I would have assumed that’s pretty obvious. But in saying that a lot of dumb shit gets said In front of passing people and there’s a sense that some people who say it to someone lighter makes it’s more acceptable or less offensive. Regardless of skin tone interpersonal racism is directed at the collective.

Not many of the policies were from the British, it was the Australian Government post 1901 federalisation of the colonies that adopted the white Australia policy, we should do more to help the first Australians but that the same time they need to accept the help they are given as many of them destroy the homes given to them, which then leads to people questioning why we give them homes and funding in the first place causing divide in the population, it’s a 2 way thing but hopefully we can find a solution fast and move on as a nation.

“We have uprooted their entire lives and cultures, subjected them to a biased justice system, haven’t recognised them as fellow humans for generations, but we have now apologised, acknowledge that they are the rightful owners of the land(but won’t give it back), and given them money, why are they upset?” You have completely missed the point, you are still viewing it in the perspective of “we are here to save the blacks from themselves” when perhaps all they needed was to be left tf alone, like all other indigenous civilisations around the world

So true , I remember there was a government inquiry about a Aboriginal community in Queensland that the Head of the commission blasted the department responsible for the Aboriginal housing , about the shocking state of the housing there.
Despite being told that it was the people of that community who were the ones destroying the homes, he ordered that new ones to be built.
A couple of years later he goes and has a look at how the people were enjoying their brand new houses, only to be shocked to find them in a complete state of disrepair.
