How do you like it? Head or combo? These little things seem to be so hard to come by! I'm trying to decide between the JTM1 and JMP1.... if I can find either haha. I think I'm leaning towards the JTM1 though.
@@CargoShorts7 I would definitely go with the JTM, oh wait, I already did! It has a whole lot more gain on tap than how Johan is demonstrating it here, and the gain isn't just buzz, or even sizzle; it's much thicker. It sounds more raw and powerful. The right speaker does wonders in balancing the chunkier cords with lighter runs. I'm using a Jensen P10Q in my combo. Granted. The stock speaker was much louder, but I much prefer the open rich harmonics of the P10Q. Also the tone knob is an active high mids control. So if you hear any demos of it sounding overly bright, they probably just have it turned up too high.
@@qualityisrare Thanks for the response man! I got my eye on one right now, but someone just threw a wrench in it by suggesting a Cornell Plexi 7 to me haha! How is the JTM1C in the 1 watt mode? Can you crank it to get that saturated goodness at reasonable home volumes, or is that more dependent on the speaker choice like you were saying? Cheers
Hi there Mr. Segeborn. I'm from Los Angeles CA USA and just wanted to say I love all your posts. This is just the type of stuff us Marshall / Les Paul players need to know that we can't get from music store salesmen!! Keep posting my friend!
Just bought one, your demo’s were a big factor in the decision. Cannot wait for it to arrive. update: its arrived and, damn 1 watt is still LOUD, esp through a 10in alnico gold, I think the standard spkr in the combo gives it a big speaker feel.
+Johan Segeborn Yeah, they are really hard to find in Canada.I was bless to find all the 5 models brand new in unopened box back in early 2015. I use a lot my jtm1 when I pratice my stuff. The Jmp has almost no clean tone except if the volume is at 2 or lower.
nice one johan,,,i just purchased an italian amp a 5 watt all valve bimbo head,,,,has a great vintage marshall sound ,,,enjoying my purchase,,,might have to get jtm1 as well,,,
I noticed the video frame changes, when you go from clean to dirty. Does it not clean up well, with guitar volume, amp cranked? Usually you crank amps and clean up on the fly (with guitar volume) on other demoes you have done in the past. Just curious. And would be very important as a consumer..Amp sounds cool tho, for sure.
When I demoed one of these, it didn't sound nearly as good at the shop. But then again, the shop didn't have that cabinet laying around, and I don't either sadly.
Hi Johan I have a 2104 50w marshall JMP combo from 1979 or 80, what do you think about using this head through that cabinet instead of either attenuating my JMP 50w for practice sessions or getting this head plus an additional cab. helsing fra Norge. Skrev engelsk sånn at alle kan forstå.
+hallucinogenic IIVV Hi! Both would work fine if you have a light hitting drummer or if you mean practicing only guitar. The cab of the 2104 is great, do you have the G12-65 speakers in it? The JTM1 has a bit less cut and bite than the JMP2104 though. Cheers Johan
+Johan Segeborn I could hear that but that is fine sine it will give me an additional amp and sound. Yes I belive its the G12-65 but with a marshall label, could this be right ? Last question, how does this amp handle pedals
+hallucinogenic IIVV You can ask as many questions as you want man :-) I prefer pedals with the low channel on the 2104. And yeah the G12-65 had Marshall labels sometimes, is the combo from 1980?
Johan, I would like to know the difference, in your opinion, between the following: 1- Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2 - Gibson Les Paul Standard 3 - Gibson Les Paul tribute 50 (I've got one like this) Do you know Marshall Haze 40? Thanks!
+Ralpher Guimaraes The standard and the tribute are weight relieved or chambered. The Traditional is a solid body. The tribute uses baked maple instead of rosewood for fretboard. The pickups differ: Traditional - 1959 Tribute Humbucker. Standard - BB Pros. Tribure 490R/498T. Have very limited experience of the Haze. Gonna check it out. Cheers Johan
I have both the THE JMP1H AND THE JTM1H ..running through a Marshall 2061CX 2x12 Extension Cabinet .. which I find way to shrill.. I want plexi tone.. is it possible ?
+Tilen Marš A common critique against the 1-watters is that they would sound fizzy. Compared to a Super Lead lightly attenuated that may be true, check this clip out ua-cam.com/video/tHXUfznPPoI/v-deo.html But compared to a heavily atteuated Super Lead they do quite fine I think. Cheers Johan

+Johan Segeborn Maybe it's how the speakers sound when they're not having enough power. After all, if you only put 1W into a 4x12 each speaker will get 0.25W which is way bellow the 25W they're made for(I think, not sure which cab you're using)
+Tilen Marš It's a 2x12 with G12M25 Greenbacks. Yeah it sounds better if you achieve some speaker distortion as well, but to many people including me this is good enough. Modern Marshall 1960A Cabs are 300W and the amps ususally sold with them are at most 100W so there you only achieve partial speaker distortion.
Well. I bought one.
And I've vowed never to sell it.
It's what I've heard in my head for a long time, finally attained!
Thank you Johan.

Add Dr.of Sound to your list of accomplishments. Thanks for all the information and demonstrations you share !
Thanks! A nice compliment!
JTM1 is a sweet little beast. Great demo!
Thanks!
Johan bc of you, yes you, I went out found one of these and bought it. Thank you for these great videos.
I have no clue why marshall isn't making these anymore, they would sell like hotcakes.
you mean sellint those like breads? ok but at what prices? i m not sure about that
Late response, but I heard they made a loss on these. Shame because they're fantastic.
They should really make a low cost version of this. it would be one of the most popular amps. around the $600 mark would be perfect.
They are priced like that or lower when used... they pop up on eBay from time to time. I think I'm gonna get one.
DSL-1.
@@reneotten2288 I just bought one for twice that much in the USA, but this is 7 tears later!!!!!!! It seems so cheap, but sounds SO good......?
These little 1 watters are really cool. I dont know which I like better, the JMP or the JTM. Better buy both if I can find them. :)
+brian patrick The JTM1 is so much more widely applicable. But the JMP has that cut in the sound that makes it unique too. Cheers
I have both and I prefer the JTM almost for everything... JMP for old Oasis songs ;-) and GnR
Great demo thanks, they really are this good! I recently bought the offset version and its such a lovely amp to play through )
+Mike McGlone Thanks! And yeah, they are indeed
Such a great amp
Thanks!
I've got to have a JTM1 J. I hope they sell them in Canada. Stellar amp.
+Trainwreckontario Yeah, impressive performance for that tiny circuitboard

jmp = jmp1h when I talked about the jmp :)
Amazing as always!
Thanks Mike!
Dear Marshall,
Why not make these part of your production line every year and while you are at a 15 watt version would be perfect....
+rrrrdavid1 yeah, I'd really like that too
nice one johan,,,i just purchased an italian amp a 5 watt all valve bimbo head,,,,has a great vintage marshall sound ,,,enjoying my purchase,,,might have to get jtm1 as well,,,
+chiba tae Thanks :-)
There's real magic in this amp. If I can't get one I'll build one.
great demo,i really like the 1 watt marshall, nice playing johan...
Thanks Louis!
Hi! Very cool. I like to hear you. You play very well.
+Ralpher Guimaraes Thanks Ralpher, Great to hear that! Cheers Johan
this 1W amps is a killer, got one and it is my fav home practice amps
Thumbs up as always!
Thanks :-)
if you dont mind please post a brief bio of yourself. just interested in how you came to have such access to this equipment. love all your vids! thx
Thanks! Most of the gear actually belongs to studios, retailers and collectors. Cheers Johan
@@JohanSegeborn Aha! I always wondered where you got it all, and where it went later, thought maybe you were a rich collector/player? I want this 1!
Excellant vid. You're making me wish I grabbed a JTM! not the JMP :-O Is the steel mesh behind the amp to reduce noise from the power points?
Thanks! The mesh is a bass trap actually.
Great review and as usual, divine sound. What's the lick from at 5:00?
+powlygon Thanks, that's just riffin :-)
the sounds at the end are exactly what i’m looking for. the only issue is i have a small apartment and have to play fairly quietly. gah.
sounds sweet!
Thanks Nicholas! :-)
Oh these are the new guys Not bad actually
great demo as always.are you using the stock valves ???? if not...what brand?
+Javier galvan perez Thanks Javier, I'm not sure. You can ask Pleximaster here on YT. It is his amp. Cheers
Great video.. :D
Thanks man :-)
Boah....awesome!!!! In Germany, we say GEIL!!!
A very nice compliment!
What speakers are in that cab? Some sort of unobtanium greenback?
Thanks. Great video. What order in sounding for these 1watt? Jmp jtm tcm dsl? Thx
+Y. Liu Thanks! I liked the JTM best but all sounded great

At 2:05 it sounds like you are playing the "Gort" chord from the original "The Day The Stood Still"
Some good vibrations there? Thanks Johan Segeborn.

Could the jtm do metal with a modern high gain pedal??
are you using a reverb pedal? any other pedals?
Does anyone know how these compare to the Supro 1 watt Blues 8 amps? Same tube layout.
Great post as usual. Can you get a beano tone from this thing? Thanks.
I just watched a video of this last night. Search "Beano tone. Lesson" and it should be the first result. The guy uses an R9 and JTM1c
what is the volume on and how does it compare in volume and tone to a Class 5 combo in your opinion. Even more touch sensitive?
+duster71 The volume is probably between 8-10. I'm afraid I have limited experience of the Class5 though.

Hey Johan, What are the technical specs of this amp?
Can you do someday JTM1 vs JTM45?
+Tyhmä Noobi Hi Tyhmä! They are compared in this clip

+Johan Segeborn But isn't that only little 45 because it's name is JTM145? But it's ok too.
Oh sorry! I'm actually gonna compare 5 JTM45 and JTM100. I'll include the JTM1 too then
+Johan Segeborn Great!
Why don't they make this a standard production amp??
+Lars Sig They really should
Is it just me or does it sound solid state-ish?

Yeah, they're become rather unusual suddenly. Cheers
+Johan Segeborn Those clean tones are gorgeous. Were you rolling off guitar volume, amp volume or a bit of both? I need to find one of these. Thanks.
