Well... some lucky bastard got to drink with him and years later we got "Vavoom - Ted the Mechanic" 🤣 Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/YLhzOqZE0gQ/v-deo.html
I was lucky enough to see Gillan twice in the early 80's - fantastic live band and McCoy on bass looked like one, to quote Samuel L Jackson, "bad motherfucker"!!!
We had this song to learn and translate into French, it caught a few pupils into enjying English courses. Nice idea, one puil had and submitted to the professor. That was in 1981 in Aubagne , South East of France
Love Him inDeep Purple ,And Solo One of the phenomenal vocalist vocalist 🧡💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯and onBlavk Sabbath Born Again✝️ Is he coming to So.Fllorida must see🎸🎤🎶🎵🥁🤩😝🤑😈💪☝️☝️👀💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣
@Flaminqogaming Yes, I was looking for Bernie! This must be around the time he didn't show up at the airport to go to the States for concerts (I think). Supposedly a mixup, but Gillan let him go and hired ? Have all this info in his autobiography but would have to look it up - members of these bands changed so often lol. All talented. Love Colin Towns on keyboard. He really developed over the years.
Yeah this is definitely lip-synched, the best proof is the fact that Bernie Torme left the band before this and Gers didn't join until after, yet you can still hear bass and guitar. Now McCoy is playing the solo's in the video, but you still hear the bass being played, and that isn't the Colin Townes Organ playing bass while McCoy shreds, this is without a doubt the studio version. What probably happened was is they actually played live, and later when the Top Of The Pops footage was released for TV, they probably replaced the live audio with the studio version of No Laughing In Heaven.
Thanks for your paragraph of thoughts. But what probably happened was that they mimed the whole song like every other fucking band on Top of the Pops in 1981. Jesus.
No rooms full of laughter in Hell either.. No blissful laughter anyway. Not for bad eggs in any case. Veruca Salt went down to an incinerator also, remember? I'd rather get Heaven and Hell to agree if I can, that I follow cutie's death cab into the dark, whoever he or she is (in my own eyes, of course)?
You see, heaven is for people who like doing the kind of things they like doing in heaven. Like being good. Talking to God. Watering pot plants. Oh no! Now if,on the other hand you like pillage,debauchery...
That's my funeral song love it
Гиллан зажигает по полной! Великолепен всегда!!!!!
Ian Gillan a phenomenal singer and frontman 🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️❤️
Too bad, there should be by far more comments. Ian Gillan' s the greatest rock singer on earth. This song is Ian's masterpiece.
Lyrically and performance-wise yes it is.
Just superb!
Очень эмоциональное исполнение!) Best!!! 👍💜💜💜
That charisma that he has ... one of those people that you wish you could go for a drink with.

greatest maleVoice in the world IAN GILLAN
Recognise that voice anywhere!
hard macho voice
Ian should tour and revisit these songs again
This is by far his best, funniest version of this song. Some of his performances are longer - but this one is just right.
I was lucky enough to see Gillan twice in the early 80's - fantastic live band and McCoy on bass looked like one, to quote Samuel L Jackson, "bad motherfucker"!!!

Minor comment to the caption: Janick Gers was not an Iron Maiden guitarist at the time. It was only written in the stars...
Love this!

Bernie torme famously left band just before this performance
John McCoy, the bass player is playing both guitar and bass, very funny...

This track beats most everything Ian has done with Purple and Blackmore

Well, Bernie Torme didn´t quit the band . He was fired when he decided that he wouldn´t appare on Top Of The Pops for this video.

if you ever do an " Ian Gillan , the rock years tour " i'll be buying a ticket :)

Where’s bernie
This is a heavy Metal Rap- Rock . As a singer, its not easy to perform this random heavy vocalization. .
No! not swimmin' women! women!
+DrGrafenberg What truly silly lyrics ... some rockers don't have to work on their minds much.
You see, heaven is for people who like doing the kind of things they like doing in heaven. Like being good. Talking to God. Watering pot plants.

well done - you understood the simplest lyrics in the history of the universe.
Congrats
simple, but hilarious!
2:39 ?????
Мне тоже понравился этот жест!))) 👍
Whammy bar,,
Ian seems a bit nonplussed to be there. I'm guessing he's not crazy about lip-synching. Can't say as I blame him. Those shows are awful.
