Then again, the creation of the new Nigerian character, the states composition had been initiated by Isaac Adaka Boro, another Izon icon who spearheaded the liberation of the Izon people from the grand ethnic oppressive governance of the then Eastern region of both M.I. Okpara and Azikiwe. Truly, the contributions of the Izon people to the modern Nigerian character has not been given its proper appreciation. It is left to us all Nigerians and the in particular, the Izon people to emphasize it for more will come from the the Izons from time to time. Let all of us as Nigerians acknowledge, appreciate and emphasize it. We as a nation do not want anymore divisive personalities who only bent on creating hatred and division to our decadence, chaos and destruction.
Lived in Buguma in my early years, went to high school in Abonnema. May the Ijaw(Izon) culture live on. There has been no truer Nigerian Icon than Maestro Cardinal Jim Lawson. Sings in Izon(Kolokuma), Kalabari- his native dialect, Nembe, Ibo, Efik, Ibibio. Please of no offence, the Izon people have proven over and over the exemplication of the true Nigerian character--Rex Jim Lawson in his artistic gift and Goodluck Jonathan in his public management style. Salvation of Nigeria does rest only on the shoulders of the smaller ethnic groupings
Is he a Kalabari man or Ijaw man…i’m Cameroonian and my mom is from Kalabari
@@darkseiid He is a Kalabari man. The Kalabaris are a clan of the Ijaw/Izon tribe.
The great and immortal Rex Lawson, single-handedly united Nigerians, with his music. I feel especially lucky, to have seen him perform, live. The same nostalgic contentment of seeing Bob Marley, perform live in his last show at Heinz Hall, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1979, also, applies. The Cardinal, lives forever, in his music.
not Nigerian. this sound makes me happy. makes me wanna dance in colorfull clothing
So true!
Great music! The good Cardinal now belongs to the ages but his songs will live to the end of days. We will always love you, especially those of us who danced to your music at those afternoon social gatherings. Rest In Peace Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, you did good.
My favorite song from Rex Lawson! May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
Rex music is so infectious, see me dancing as if I was drunk. very original. RIP Cardinal Rex Lawson.
My comment is not What my emotion, When l was very very little girl l used to hear this sound from a neighbour that repair radio and television, If You really know the meaning of a high Life music there is no other than Rex Lawson and celestine ukwu, paulson kalu, joe nez, l remember my mother used to Call me ochaka beacuse When ever l hears one of this music l go on imidiately twisting my little waist l,m so immense happy that l can find this sound s back with good memory Thanks to whom ever had made this to exit again and may there soul rest in perfect peace apart from paulson kalu that is still alive
Every song by Rex has some nostalgic connection for me. I can't but remember our neighbour Okponku singing and dancing to this tune with reckless abandon while Uncle Dennis is spinning the turntable........such innocence, brotherhood and joy in the early 70s in Nigeria.
Rex Jim Lawson will live for ever. Even though I don't speak that language, but his music is my favorite which I dance to with reckless abandon. With two white handkerchiefs in both hands. Then there comes the questions. Are you from Delta? Or are you I Ibo man. No, I am a Yorubas man with no boundaries just enjoying natural music all around the world.
+Sunny Adewuyi thats it
Totally agree with you; his music has no tribal line!
Very well articulated.
Looooooool 😅
@ 2 white handkerchiefs in both hands !

Dat's us IJAWS 4u. Dat's our style.
But music is indeed universal.

Excellent beats from the King himself.
So refreshing, and commands good ,memories of the artistic performances of the late regend Cardinal Rex. Lawson. May god bless his family that are still alive!
Hmmmmm, never dying scintillating song by the greatest high life musician ever from the shores of Africa Buguma in Rivers state/Niger Delta. I love this song so much.
I have almost all his songs.
Rex,was a great music impresario, who lived before his time.
Listen to Osuola teme, and Ene bate.and see if tears will not drop from your eyes.
Listening to Rex Cardinal Jim Lawson's songs, invokes Nostalgic feelings.
Rex was also an ACE TRUMPETER.
Apostle Akhigbe I'm sure you meant Osuanla aruenene. I can tell you a bit about that song and who Osuala was if you like.
@@shokpeks1 Please tell us
@@moraxgabriel9925 Chief Osuala was the owner of a big hotel in Yaba, Lagos. Rex and his band got a contract to be the resident band of the hotel, Chief Osuala gave Rex a car and also gave the rest of the band members a Vespa bike. So in the song, Rex appreciates Chief Osuala. However, he later left Osuala and was doing shows everywhere before he died
Thanks Grove for keeping Rex fresh in our memories. Peri Special really got me shaking down some. My Brother an I go Pigs with Rex's music. He even named his son Rex. Proud to be born in rivers state, though my parents are from another state. I always say I'm from rivers. This is what I learned from the US. Anua!!

Sorry I meant to write Groovemonzter. I hope you accept my apology.
No problem. And so sorry but I don't have that Rex Lawson tune. But I will look for it. cheers
If this song doesn't get your feet moving. Then check your pulse you might not be alive lol
😆😆😆
Kofi !😲
U get bad mouth o ......
This song should be 1970 or early 1971? I suppose it came after the civil war. I need some clarification.
Chukwuma,
I remember dancing to this song 😍 in late 1967. The secondary schools were already closed early that year due to the war. I can assure you that it was not after the war.
1970. Rex died in January 1971.
@@CreekBoi56
Are you saying that 🤔 the tune Mbanga was released after the war? (1970). Was there another version of the album?
lol!
