Diane Edward, who was a friend of a band member, is who the song this was written for. Murdered at 19 years of age. The scum that killed her is unfortunately still drawing breath.
This was in my backyard. I grew up on the West Side of Saint Paul right next door to West St Paul. My uncles on both sides of my family knew Hart and Norton. Hart from South St Paul and Norton from West St Paul.
First time I heard this was the Coffin Break version, way back in them early 90's. I instantly loved it. Still a punk rock fave all day long. I didn't find out it was a cover until about ten years later. Sorry to admit, I was a late bloomer on the Husker Du. But, their original has became my favourite. Thanks for sharing!

I remember hearing this on the hardcore show on wtul in 1986 along with a bunch of other post punk from the early 80s. I taped the show.
