This is a great video, thanks. You mentioned that if we would like to learn about more about refrigerant cooling system, we should comment. Here I did that :)
Excellent presentation of the explation of the cooling technologies. Especially useful - to me - was the information pertaining to the deployment in the different manufacturers/models. Thank You.
Dear Linda, Thanks a lot for making such explanatory video. The contents are really good and you have explained so clearly. It will be great if you can share the slides. Let me know if it's possible.
What type of connections are used for Liquid cooling systems? is it rubber hoses or metal pipes? where can i find more info on rubber hoses used in EVs?
please note that when >30°C, the battery performance (if we are talking power here) is actually increased, due to better chemical kinetics inside of the cell at higher temperature, however, it will degrade the cells.
@@newson1177 battery degrades with time, as long as it is assembled from the production line, it starts to degrade. temperature is related to the degradation rate.
Thank you for the very good explanation. Do you know which cooling system does Geely SEA2 platform uses? Also why not blow cool air like normal aircon with no worries for leaking
Excellent content, awesome explanation!, would you help to to post video on motor on water immersion levels and risks..if you haven’t done one I would request for the same..also I didn’t see any reference for MG zs ev in your video could you consider adding that in future… thanks for your time and contribution
Linda, this section is very wrong - @16:06. Project i-CoBat (M&I Materials led Innovate UK project) proved there is a lower cost for direct immersion liquid cooling, NOT A HIGHER COST. Also, the build is a simpler one, NOT one which is more complex, as you don't have to manufacture secondary systems around the pack, or integrate them into it, which also adds weight by comparison. This is a technically validated project with proven outcomes and and that project is even award winning. Also, leakage with a readily and fully biodegradable ester does not equal a "concern", either for OEMs or for consumers.
Hi Matthew, thank you for your comments. The direct immersion liquid cooling is relatively new tech, which has not been mass produced in vehicles yet. This might involve higher development and validation costs. But you are right, technology involves and it will be more competitive.
@@lingyanj7075 That is quite a big ask. I am currently working on a cooling solution for engineering project in university involving an air cooled battery pack with 18650 cylindrical cells. I'll be using Star-CCM+ to run simulations on various cell arrangements to find the ideal spacing.
It would be beneficial to include a section describing Tesla’s heat pump system. Through a valve assembly called the octovalve the heat pump system is able to move heat from area to area. From the battery to the cabin, from the cabin (AC) to the battery, from the battery to the outside environment, etc. It is able to heat and cool the interior cabin, the motors and the battery. Because it is moving heat as opposed to making heat it is much more efficient.
Begode electric unicycles in Guangdong need you! They don’t even use a BMS and their cooling system is poor. But they make popular high performance wheels.
A nice overview on the Thermal Management of the EV Battery system.

thank you for your support :)
I liked your overview very much I think you did excellent work on explaining the different types of battery cooling technology.
Such an informative and comprehensive video! thank you so much for making this ; )
Dear Lingyan
You have made a very high quality training material. This is an outstanding Video

Great video. It was really useful for me since I am working on the thermal management of prismatic li-ion
What kind of battery packs you work on?
Dear Linda,
Thanks a lot for making such explanatory video. The contents are really good and you have explained so clearly.
It will be great if you can share the slides. Let me know if it's possible.
Very nice explanation. Reference 8 is excellent. It helped me a lot. Many thanks Lingyan!
Thanks to all who make education videos
Excellent technical description! Thank you.
Excellent overview presentation!
Can you please provide the presentation file? Thank you in advance

Hi, can you share more details of the direct liquid refrigerant type battery cooling system, thank you 🙏

thank you I will check that.
I read that battery degradation begins when the ambient temperature is >35°C

Thanks for such a detailed video on BTMS.
Thank you very much for the presentation!
Very nice presentation! Congrats on the fine job.
Thanks, Linda, could you please share this presentation with us?
Great information, thanks

In ambient below 10 degrees, how the direct refrigerant system keeps the battery warmer.
Good question. For heating, BMW i3 battery heats itself - it has a resistive heater element that is powered by electricity from the battery.

An informative video to understand logic of battery cooling, thank you👍
Very nice explained, thank you very much😄
Very useful presentation. Thank you so much!
你好,你是在Dana,Valeo,Mahle( BEHR) 设计电池冷却的工作吗?
Fantastic explain but little music may make this video more interesting..
This was extremely helpful.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks Linda!
Thanks a lot for this great video
Very nicely explained, thanks for making this video!
Well done video
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
Are you in Buffalo,NY?
yup
Thanks for the video.
I thought liquid cooling would make a better waterproof system since we would be able to apply a sealed enclosure now.
any training center with placement
Thank you!
Excellent linda👍 💕
Thank you so much
nice explanation
Thanks for the sharing.
Thanks for nice presentation.
which masters should i study , if i want to pursue a research job in this field?
Mechanical engineering focusing on heat transfer and thermodynamics
Nice video, good job!
please make a video on thermal analysis using different software
such as?
