Poland is superb. It seems like his guitar is crying and supplicating in the first solo, just fantastic!
Yeah it’s truly amazing how the melody changes in the beginning of the song go from relaxed to confused to violent just like the lyrics.
Chris Poland was the best guitarist Megadeth ever had, I’m sorry.
Of course
Without a doubt. And most underrated guitarist of ALL GENRES as well
Dont be
I’d love to have been a teenager and watch Megadeth play while Chris and Gar were still in the band.
Nothing against Poland. Marty was the best
Dave Mustaine referred to Poland as "an amazing guitar player-he can play circles around me".
Yep VH1 documentary
What does that mean?
@@bakalaudia5620 hes fookin good man thats what
I member
Everyone says the Friedman/Menza lineup is the best lineup Megadeth ever had. And don't get me wrong, that lineup was SICK, but I'll always like the Poland/Samuelson lineup just a little better.
I really wish they curbed their addiction and continued to stay
@@duncansalyer2999 R.I.P. Gar Samuelson 😢
@@ivyhallquist3159 RIP indeed, he was an absolute beast on the drums
The Marty/Menza era deth had such a thick sound. It was like a sledgehammer. Poland/samuelson era deth had a sharp frenetic energy that could slice your fucking head off.
Best way I could describe it haha.
5:04 Probably my most favourite Poland Solo.
Why is no one talking about one of the best riffs ever at 3:04 ?! Such a sick riff!
Buraz93 ikr!
I think 4:08 is better
Best riff ever imo
It's really hard to play too
czr7j9 listen a few times and look at the songsterr tabs it's not that hard
I absolutely love the clean tone the rockman produces on this album it can never be replaced
I bought just to try it out, it fucken rocks
damn this song is even 3 times darker then the normal band version this way!
Poland still amazes me to this day, the best guitarist ever in the Big 4.
For solo writing it goes Kirk Hammett ,Marty Friedman then Chris Poland then Dave mustaine then Jeff hanneman then the guy from anthrax
I think Kirk and Marty are better than him
austin cutty u serious??? kirk, one of the worst guitarists in metal history
If Kirk hadnt replaced mustaine he wouldn't have any hate
austin cutty He gets hate because he uses the same scale and licks over and over. Plus, he thinks wah is the best way to cover up mistakes.
5:04 AMAZING!
Poland's solo, I just can't tolerate the magic. And I'm talking about the solo during the fast part. The best.
He goes crazy on F sharp minor. Love it.
Yeah, but how many guitarists you know who can make order out of chaos as well as Dave? He has keen sense of making the most out of his limited technical knowledge, filling all the spaces with pure angst. Alot of metal guitarists could learn alot from Dave. You hear a Dave solo, you know it's him.
SO FUCKING RIGHT
Fucking hell yeah dude
But his technical knowledge is not limited..
@@zimonslot I think he meant in terms of playing theory and all the playing techniques. Dave knows how to make good shit, but he isn't Petrucci when it comes to musical knowledge. But I would say Dave uses his ability in a much more creative way than most highly knowledgeable guitar players
dave is great at guitar, but i always found it pretty insane the lyrics he rights while playing the stuff he does, like that part in chosen ones when he sings and plays that one solo lick a couple times over
1:11 dave solo is crazy especial that he's the rythm guitarist....
Yea I agree he was the lead guitarist in Metallica before but I get your point
Just beautiful. Absolutely incredible. Dave and Chris together is just awesome!
Man no matter how many times I listen to it. I cannot wrap my mind around how Chris Poland uses the harmonics and feedback so well in that intro solo. It's seriously like a magic trick what he does at 0:54. If there was one thing I'd ask him if I ever get the chance is. What gear he was using and how exactly he played that like that? Wonder if it was just pure luck or on purpose. It sounds like it was from a different take that might've been trashed but they wanted to use that one part just because he couldn't mimic it again.
JustinFukinCole Extirpate He also makes extremely good use of the whammy bar. Instead of just dive bombs or squeals, he uses it to accentuate certain notes or shift them in a very weird way. Then again, his playing is always weird but awesome!
EDIT: And also this 0:43 I still don't know how he gets that harmonic out of nowhere
Walamonga 1313 sounds like he's tapping the string around the neck pick up area to get that note at 0:43 but even still. The way it rings out is beautiful. He's gotta be using some sort of sustain pedal or something. I'll bet you if whales heard this it'd make them cry. Easily one of my top 10 leads of all time.
Definitely one of my favourite leads of all time. And Bad Omen's intro solo is one of my favourites as well.
Sounds like he flicked a selector switch and it fed back
I used to be able to do that when I was a beginner. Now a seasoned player, I can't, lol. I remember playing notes and ever so slightly relieving the pressure on my fretting finger to get that weeping Poland effect, as I slowly released the bend.
I hear much of Kill'em All with the riffs and leads...my favorite metal up your ass album by Mustaine 🤘
Thanks for having upload this, Chris Poland is one of a kind guitarist!
high asf, and it sounds amazing
great song!!
1:42-1:44 i can honestly say i have never heard that before. must be so buried in the mix
When i listen super closely i can hear it but it never woulda heard it if i didnt pay attention to it :P
Here's how you play it. It's on the A string and you pick on all the notes with a 'V' above them and pull off the ones with a dash above them:
-V---VVV---VVV-----VVV----VVV-
-320235323575357975797-
OMG UR RIGHT I AGREE
Awesome!
I've totally missed out on the pick scratch things @ around 4:24 :O
Wow, there is a video where Dave plays that part, and was always like "wtf is he doing that", but now it makes sense. It does indeed sounds like a damn chainsaw lol
I think my speakers just melted
They messy, yeah, but I love the gritty sound they have. It fits the song!
Ive been in a number of them. In the late 80's / early 90's, I was in a fusion band which opened for Tribal Tech.
Riff master.
anyone know where I can find only dave's rhythm track?
5:05 man this solo
Can you upload mp3 of part 2? moggs :(
megaupload is closed. luckily mediafire started to work again
2:35 how the hell does he do that sounds so awesome!
It's called being sloppy, he just did some random slide
@@cdsmetalhead99i know lol the sloppiness is just so insanely messy it sounds insane
🤩 4:07 🤩
F UCK YEAH
it sounds a bit sloppy on its own but I really like it that way, it adds to the feel of the song
4:07
daves solo's sounds like he just improvised a bit hard to pick a pattern lol
czr7j9 you just described every solo ever created
easily chris polands best solo in the intro
I only really like the beginning but it is the most beautiful and haunting intro I’ve ever heard
Anyone know of Chris Poland played rhythm on this album along with Mustaine or if he only played lead and solo ?
They both did rhythm guitars but mostly dave, chris added the harmonies to some songs and played his parts differently but everything else was all dave
Mp3 download link is not valid.
omg those are so faking heavy riffs
then use the other one
mediafire link doesn't work.
lol im the 6666th viewer
Why is the rhythm not there?
why would you want it? it's easier to figure out this part without it
dusch888 Figure out? I wanted it to listen to it
Mike Hawk It's really useful to have these isolated guitar tracks for learning the solos.
Deere55 I know
Mike Hawk rhythm guitar is on the vocal track!
3:04
4:08
This demonstrates a great tone from the guitar. Now people try and get great tone mainly from the amp which is a false economy.
You're full of shit.
anyone got any idea how they got that disgusting ass tone at 3:04?
That part is still weird to me. I think Dave played the riff with his lead tone, then added the rhythm tracks as the riff builds up, then removed the lead track right when the vocals come in. Now how to get the actual tones, I have no clue lol
perhaps, more likely so HIGH that even he can't play them lol
heroin melancholy at it's finest
jesus daves leads are so messy, good tho :-)
