- I know there are many Kurt Busch vs. Jimmy Spencer videos out there, but I wanted to provide all of the incidents and interviews in one place, as well as the Dale Jr. Download Jimmy Spencer episode that inspired me to put this compilation together. I wanted to know how "good" Spencer's memory was from the episode, so all of the incidents are first and I interspliced relevant clips inside Dale, Jr.'s interview with Spencer to compare. I don't think it's too far from the truth, but I do think Spencer BS'd some of his interview with Dale. I find it entertaining regardless. It was an intense rivalry that continues to be talked about over 20 years after the incidents occurred.

Still think Spencer's comments on DJD about Kurt are funny. "He got fired from Roush, got fired from Penske, because he's a terrible driver." Not only does Kurt have a title and Jimmy doesn't even have a Top 10 points finish, but Jimmy had THREE different rides during the three years he feuded with Kurt.

I think what Jimmy meant was that he was a punk driver...not a respectable person and driver. Jack Roush didn't know the kind of borderline Pyscho he had in the car.

I'll defend Spencer some places in this. First wreck didn't seem intentional. But Busch was immature at this time and really didn't come around til SHR days.. Jimmy never had the quality of ride that Busch always had. Busch just flat out didn't race Spencer at Bristol for his first win.. the arrogance that Busch showed for the incident sent fans against him, as Spencer was sorta a fan favorite. Spencer wrecking Busch at Brickyard was a line crossed..In the end, it's a feud that just shouldn't have happened.
In a way it was good for Nascar...never cared for any of the Busch brothers though, the attitude and how they carried themselves... never set well with me. And Yes Jimmy never had the quality rides as Kurt Busch...he did here with Gannassi but he only gave him one year and fired him, not sure what really happened there.
Never understood Kurt being the villian in this exchange. He was completely right about Spencer being a decrepit old never was. His career was basically a worse Michael Waltrip.
I don’t know, maybe Spencer being the veteran driver put fans on his side. Kurt being the young driver with an attitude against someone who has been racing for years. That’s my guess, I could be wrong.
Spencer got more wins on short tracks than Kurt Busch can count. Not in Cup mind you but Modifieds asphalt and dirt he has a lot of them.
We need a sit-down with Kurt for his full side of the story. Pretty sure Spencer's is at least 50% BS
His whole episode of DJD was full of fabrications. He’s completely delusional.
I will side with Spencer on this, I know hes fluffing his story, but Kurt acted like a Karen the whole time. I get tempers flowing, but after your first career win, you immediately bring up an old incident to justify your actions. Much less in victory lane on the TV interview. Jimmy then dumps him for revenge at high speeds. Kurt decides to try and take him out by cutting his tire at another fast track. That's a chicken shit move, because you want to end his day, but not crash into him on TV. He then talks shit in the garage, swings and missed, gets hit, then says "you're done". I'm sorry, but that's what we clown people for now, 20 years later. Maturity absolutely helped Kurt out. His arrest in 05 and his shenanigans in 2012. He could have stayed a bigger public enemy than his brother.
Spencer started it, Kurt got back it him, and then spencer couldn't handle it.
I like Jimmy Spencer but he did instigate this more than Kurt did. I think Jimmy was a bit jealous of the young gun. Kurt and Kyle were both unlikable at first in their careers but people forget they were both kids still essentially. Once they got older and matured they became good dudes, they both definitely hate losing lol.

I just love how Kurt Busch, at his lowest, is still miles better than Jimmy Spencer at his highest. NASCAR fans seem to always forget that Jimmy started this fued, not Kurt. Much like with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch. Dale Jr. started that one, too. But fans were so biased against the Busch brothers at that time.
For me Jimmy was in the wrong in the beginning. This was during a time when Kurt was the young gun, and a bit of an asshole. While Kurt did come off as unlikable, he was pretty much justified in his actions. Even if you take out the Phoenix race, Jimmy still moved Kurt out of the way in the 2002 spring Bristol race, so I felt like Kurt was completely justified in booting Jimmy out of the way to win the race (I also felt like out of the 2 Bristol races that year, Kurt was more justified to boot Jimmy out of the way, than Jeff Gordon booting Rusty Wallace out of the way, and I’m a Jeff Gordon fan) because you just can’t boot someone out of the way and not except something else, then act all innocent when someone repays the favor.

Busch Vs Spencer was a very interesting rivalry
Kurt had a punch coming for the way he acted during this time period, but even though Kurt was a brash young asshole I highly doubt he threatened Jimmy’s family. I like Jimmy but I feel he’s embellishing a lot here.
Spencer definitely punted Busch intentionally in the first race unless you believe 44 and 97 both lifted at the exact same time. Wrecked a lot of the rest of the field too. Deserved exactly what he got at Bristol.

It's funny to be cuz these truck series dudes be punching each other every other week lol.. i like Kurt and Jimmy both so it was whatever lol. I will say when kurt was younger he did seem like a douche though that's for sure
