I WISH LASERS IN HELLDIVERS 2 WERE BETTER

- I'll pin this in the comments too, why does it seem like the majority of the weapons we have access to get overlooked due to a "meta" - it seems unfortunate to be forced to play certain ways but that's just the way it is.
LAS-7 isn't something I would ever bring to a bug mission.
Please excuse the length of the video, it became more of a theorycraft and live impression than I had hoped, but for the ones who just want a straight answer - here is what i experienced:
The LAS-98 and LAS-16, would 100% recommend for any laser enjoyer out there! Especially with the new stun grenade we can unlock within the the new warbond in Helldivers 2 (fishing for keywords so the algo picks it up, lol)
LAS-7 is better in automaton missions due to its ability to focus fire weak points and overheat critical areas. Out of the new warbond, I highly recommend the sickle, and the new stun grenade which I show off in this video, i should have chapters showcasing it in action, just hover over the timeline in the video.
My personal opinion is, i love the armor sets and can't wait to explore Arc more. I love all the fun little toys we get - however, if i ever had to really sit down and run a max helldive 9 difficulty, there are certain things I need to avoid bringing, in this case i would avoid taking the LAS-7 unless, stun and automatons. What do you think?

that first team mate made it enjoyable for sure
They should have given us the LAS-12 Tanto instead of this. Imagine almost having the power of the laser cannon, in a small short ranged SMG that builds heat fast. That sucker melted anything up close, the dagger is just cheeks.

One thing I would say is that Hellmire, and hot planets in general, aren't the best place for beam weapons. The overheat faster on those planets. Maybe it would be better on colder planets where they'll last longer.
This said, I think that rather than having lower damage the Dagger should have a smaller heating coil. So it should be able to kill things faster, but need to be "reloaded" or swapped away from sooner.
That way it's a compliment to another laser weapon where you can swap between them while the other is cooling off.
The hot planets barely change the time to overheat. OhDough's video on the Sickle showed a test of it and the difference was less than a tenth of a second between normal and hot planets. So it doesn't matter that much.
It cools down a little longer like 1-2 sec more nothing else
You are showcasing it on a hot fire tornado planet. try it on cold planet vs bots. it is a good option to never be out of ammo if you dont overheat it.

Just a few quick comments from a laser enjoyer, I rock the scythe and laser cannon anytime I go bots, rock it with plot armor and jump pack. You wanna crouch a lot! Tactical crouching to keep that aim perfect, i've gotten soo much use out of these two weapons it's like an unlimited ammo dream come true. Works wonders on bots because everything can be taken out with medium armor pen, bugs are a bit of a different story, I still like using the scythe but once a head is popped you gotta stop focusing on that bug! Short controlled bursts, good trigger discipline or you'll be swapping ice. As for the laser cannon, that can't really deal with chargers or titans that well due to them both having heavy armor, a real shame because I love it for taking out bile spewers and hive guards. Real shame about that pistol, I was hoping it would be my laser copium using other primaries.

I think a good firing option for it would be a like heatsink overload at the cost of like either a majority of the heatsink or maybe even the whole sink you get a bit of a long charge up but it fires off a single high armor pen shot making it have a high risk high reward secondary
i like this idea, i thought so too - the longer a laser points, the more dmg it does, but it puts you at risk. at some point it would deal dmg to the user for letting it overheat

I’ll always use the Scythe and Laser Cannon as they’re both exactly what I was looking for in this game and fit my supportive playstyle really well. The Dagger is just so bad I can’t justify using it in any situation. It’s just a Scythe that deals half damage with no benefits. Even in pure laser builds, you really don’t need more than the Cannon/Scythe to juggle cooldowns for infinite ammo. It’s a very disappointing pistol imo
The Cannon is Decent to Super Good depending on specific Enemy types. I've been using it on "cold Planets" but yeah the LAZ 7 Pistol is "fine" the way it is imo. I can keep a steady stream of Laser on Targets switching between it and Cannon on Cold weather planets. If you wanted to go super Crazy Equip the Lazer Rifle too or the AR. BUT I WILL SAY, against Autos, I'd rather rock something else, unless I just want to be "lazer boy". THE LAZ PISTOL IS MY MAIN PISTOL NOW FOR BUGS! WHY? B/c firing while running just make a line back and forth aiming at their legs, it will "stagger them/cut off their legs". I find this to be the best BLIND FIRE PISTOL in the game, IMO.

15:57 you can shoot the base of the walker and it'll topple over. I don't know if the laser pistol can do it though.

I can see what y'all're saying, and given y'all are playing in Helldive, I don't think y'all're wrong. But on Hard things are going great.
Goddd... you just showed the most balanced piece of equipment in the game and rant about it, all you gotta do with the 2ndary gun is eighter have close to no ammo or with this one actually infinite ammo for small foes... its neigther a main weapon nor a strat! dammit its fukn good if you play ammo intensive guns like shotgun and recoilless to clear small ones... you are talking shit about a weapon that does what it should do...
