Honestly, I've seen swords like that work out for the owners. The part where it tried to bind itself to the user also wasn't really evil, from what's shown. A sword that literally refuses to be knocked out of one's hand mid battle? Pretty sweet. Then it started draining something from her and THAT sealed the deal.
Does anyone else have whiplash from how fast this episode was moving. SERIOUSLY this is 80% of the 9th light novel I’m not even joking there are 12 chapters in LN 9 (not counting the prologue or epilogue) and it goes through 9 complete chapters and dips in to the 10th chapter. And I know a lot of it got cut or altered but still, I’m sure you’ve heard this before but seriously what are the story writers thinking.
I'm an anime only watcher and I certainly get whiplash from the insane pacing, but a friend of mine agreed to my sentiment that the story has basically abandoned the initial concept, and that this all feels like an overly elaborate and unnecessary side quest/story.

Man if you're going to be a wielder of an evil sword at least have a good one like Eyelander. Sure it's a possessed sword the desires to chop off heads, but it's also the greatest friend a Demoman could ever ask for.
The Sword of Kas isn't all bad either, aside from needing to be drenched in blood within a minute of unsheathing it, or you risk being dominated by the sword, and forced to drench it in blood
I remember their was a novel series where the protagonist has a cursed sword. He’s crippled and weak but the sword makes him stronger whenever it takes a life. If the sword can’t feed, his chronic illness starts to take him again. He hates the weapon it is very literally the only thing keeping him alive and it has a pretty good incentive to keep using it. That is a good cursed sword, it makes you stronger with every life taken but the sword needs to eat consistently or it stops working, a normal person would benefit from it but someone physically feeble would find it impossible to let it go.
I'm disturbed how often people get duped into using swords that are either cursed, formed from dark magic, or are merged with some kind of parasitic entity and don't immediately realize they should get rid of it ASAP. Corrin in Fire Emblem ended up getting their mother killed because they didn't discard the dark magic sword from Garon, Jural from The Last Story was impaled by the cursed sword Zangurak gave him to try killing Zael, and those parasitic swords those guys in Bleach used ended up turning them into monsters and slowly killed them from sacrificing too much of their spirit energy.

All the people who made season 1 still there, only the director changed. He will never find any job again since in his curriculum they will see how on of the greatest /popular anime in recent years was trashed with his arrival. If we pray and God hears us, maybe they make a ''tensura'' and decide to re-animate season 2, only this time with the original director. (is posible, it happened with fullmetal alchemist nd tensura to a lesser extent).
