I haven't ever used this seller, but I just found this etsy store that has custom sails for the QAR (plus a lot more stuff). No idea about the quality of products or integrity of seller, but it's way cheaper than buying the lego version www.etsy.com/listing/1303540576/cloth-sail-sail-set-suitable-for-pirate?click_key=0f5c2a545b1253744f42484e9194fbeede602bfd%3A1303540576&click_sum=3ed36572&ref=shop_home_active_118&frs=1
As a kid, I had the choice between the Black Pearl and this beauty for my birthday gift. As cool as the Pearl is, I am very pleased with my child self deciding on the Revenge. One of my favorite sets of all time!
With how easy it'd be to reprint these parts for easier access in newer Lego sets, I can't help but feel Lego does this exclusive parts crap on purpose.
What worked best for me, instead of laboriously searching for blocks, is to buy an exceptional lego set that will end this year and in 2-3 years I will easily sell it for a higher price and buy any old decommissioned ship. 10-year discarded sets no longer rise in price as sharply as sets that will end this year, until 2025 there will be a sharper increase in price than for a 10-year discarded set. For example, I will buy a Blacksmith Medieval and a republic fighter tank today - the purchase price should be somewhere around 160 EUR, within three years it should be enough for a used Queen Anne. Or it was worth buying a Barracuda Bay and in a few years you can easily trade it for an Imperial Flagship.
When I was a kid, I got the Black Pearl for christmas. After looking at the related sets on the last page of the instructions, I wanted this set, SO BAD. Being extremely expensive, I was never able to get it before it retired. Oh well, at least I had the black pearl
I did something similar but bought the China version first and used the sails, flags, any parts without studs and sticker sheet. Everything else I replaced with lego.
all this video showed me was that I needed to take better care of my Lego sets when I was younger, cause I had this. and like a fool didn't put everything back in the box
I struggle to understand why people bother spending hundreds of extra dollars on real Lego when they can just get the functional equivalent from china, especially when it’s a display piece. Usually the answer is “not wanting to wait super long” or “it’s risky to buy overseas”, but you went ahead and bought it anyways. Was it really worth the extra money to have that official stamp?
Some people don’t mind at all and some people are 100% LEGO purists. The newer haunted mansion I mentioned getting was a disaster.. it was missing over half the pieces, had tons of extra pieces and the minifigs were extremely fragile and horribly printed. QAR was complete, but it was just hard to get the pieces to lock together (blood was drawn). Plus the figs were terrible and some parts didn’t fit at all. So that’s the risk, even the higher quality sets are a SERIOUS downgrade in quality, in my experiences.
I would definitely say I’m a Lego purist. I still buy most sets for functionality over display cause I still act like a child. I try to just avoid looking at older sets so I don’t want to spend the hundreds of dollars on a $30 set. But I have wanted to search around 3rd party Lego stores to find any special deals on idk sets
I am older and have financial resources to buy the $400-$500 sets but dang I have a real hard time justifying it. You can buy a kickass TV or a really good 3D printer for that. It’s hard to pull he trigger of those sets. I have set myself a price limit on LEGO sets. I have dipped my toe in the China market on Davy Jones Flying Dutchman ship and a Nautilus submarine. LEGO never made those. They cost 25% of an equivalent LEGO set. For MOC building I use LEGO but I may be switching to knockoffs for display pieces if these workout. LEGO has gotten super greedy so no guilt here.
I *almost* got this set for my birthday but at the last minute decided on something else. I dearly regret that decision now (although I'm sure it'd be missing many pieces if 10-year-old me got my hands on it).
I really like this channel! It's a fun dive into the hobby and allows me to live vicariously through your experience what I cannot afford to experience for myself
Aliexpress. I don’t have a link because the seller is gone, but you just have to find a good seller (start with someone who has been around for more than a month)
that is one small boat the Queen Anne's Revenge i bought is not that smal and i does not have the row of skulls it looks absolute better, mine is the mould king version 82cm from long 60+ cm high 3100+ pieces!! 87euro's buying a lego pirates set with 3000+ pieces will cost atleast 200euro!
Can you please link the Chinese versions. I really need to replace my worn down sails with the fake ones but there are so many sellers idk what to choose. I would like to purchase from the seller u got ur Chinese sails from
It looks like the store I bought it from is gone, but basically I tried to find a store that had been open longer than a couple months and had mostly positive reviews
I Jist bought one of co0y's buying lego pieces is not scheap, if i buy the pieces for a 18car garage like i can buy in china, i am paying thensame or even more because i don't know what pieces i exactly need!
I agree, I'm not against cynical jokes, especially if they are aimed at a massive cooperation like disney, but this comment was not funny enough to be considered a joke, nor clever enough to be criticism.

Ah yes, the glory of retired LEGO values, where a brown feather is worth over $40

Yeah that’s a really good idea. Best way to get old printed fabric

Did you enjoy it though?
so you are telling me that i have a ship in my house thats expensive nowadays? well, lets build again and sail away!

Love the Golden Eye soundtrack :)
Unexpectedly based for a Lego vid, I was very pleasantly surprised
Blackbeard is Asian...that killed me!😅
2:34 This caught me off guard 😭 great video !
you sound like Bruce Campbell. I love it
That’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten. I can’t wait to tell my Ash figure
I'm gonna rebuild my black pearl because of this.
i have it from my childhood and it's pretty cool seeing it being so pricey
I'm so envious of lego fans that aren't also cardboard collectors. If I don't have the original box and instructions I don't have the set in my mind
Lol
Not a big fan of cardboard boxes because where I live, it gets moist and moldy.
@@tomokocchikuroki6200where do you live
I own the QAR and used that exact same flag piece as an replacement for a lost one. 4:33
This video is like lquid nostalgia, I had this set as a kid.
found this used on FB marketplace for $120
That’s awesome
I really like this channel! It's a fun dive into the hobby and allows me to live vicariously through your experience what I cannot afford to experience for myself
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it
i got it from a grandma on offerup for 50$ and it was sealed still havent opened it
ive been to andys multiple times. i love them. theyre super nice!
Damn. Maybe I should but mine together. Got it for 50€ from a second hand store but without the sails. I was thinking the would cost A LOT.
They do, but if you already have the rest of the ship it’s not too bad
@@brickjawns Yeah, I might go even for reproduction sails. Didn't even consider something like that.
I used the same method to make the Republic Attack Cruiser. So much cheaper than $1000
Nice!
Where did you get the off brand LEGO Queen Anne's Revenge from? if you know do you have the link? (Great vid!!!
Aliexpress. I don’t have a link because the seller is gone, but you just have to find a good seller (start with someone who has been around for more than a month)
@@brickjawns Okay!
Me with power miner set be like
you should add gas price to total :D all this driving :D
Yikes, that would probably bring it back up to $500
fire video, you deserve more subs
Great video, congratulations!!!
Great job on the video. Maybe you can stencil the other side of the flag?
Possibly!
Its scary how crazy people actually are...for some tiny logos. You can buy chinese version for $25 that's the same without tiny lego logos
I was looking on eBay and found one that was only missing a few pieces and it was 170 dollars
Good deal, depending on if the pieces were rare
that is one small boat the Queen Anne's Revenge i bought is not that smal and i does not have the row of skulls it looks absolute better, mine is the mould king version 82cm from long 60+ cm high 3100+ pieces!! 87euro's buying a lego pirates set with 3000+ pieces will cost atleast 200euro!

would've been cool if he got all of the figures
Wait this set isn't old. I remeber when it came out. Its only been..... 💀
lol
Now include gas
I Jist bought one of co0y's buying lego pieces is not scheap, if i buy the pieces for a 18car garage like i can buy in china, i am paying thensame or even more because i don't know what pieces i exactly need!
I bought one for 35$ from temu
How was the quality
@@brickjawnsPretty good except the figures
Good try .. too much effort .. but the result is stunning ❤🎉😊
The excessive effort is the fun part!

good vid and all just stop putting religion and politics in dog.
You’re not the boss of me
