Yup, cool thing about this is you can make as big or small as you want and you can keep reusing the makers once your done. Just make the circles as big as you want yout pom poms to be.
Meladora, I really hope you don't mind my input. I kept trying different ways to make this work and I found that this is the best way for me. Thank you soooo much for all that you do to help us. I have learned so much from you and I could never thank you enough! Bless you Always 💕💕 Debbie
Wow I totally forgot how to do these. I found mine the other day in my stuff from prison. That's where I learned this. Sooo cool thanks for teaching me over again!
Thank you. Very easy to follow directions. I used to make perfect pom poms on my fingers, but can't do it anymore. This will make it easier for me to make the same size pom poms.
I just wanted to let you know that I tried other technics and my pompoms were looked awful, I just did your tutorial and they turned out fantastic, thank you!
That's a great video that u made. I bought a pompom maker and the discs would slip when I was winding it, but the way u do it works out better than the plastic disc. Thanks so much for showing how to make them from the beginning until the pompom was completed.
Thanks that was great, I was surprised that it still came out as a full circle, especially since you cut out a v shape in the cardboard, will give it a try!
I loved this idea! Why not run your yarn around the two cardboards first so that you don't have to HOLD all those crazy cut threads at the end? I'll try this and see if it works! Thanks again!!
Another great idea! The ones I've seen before didn't have the open ends, which meant that the yarn had to be wrapped through the center hole, which is quite tedious. Do you make large pompoms the same way?
Thank you. I figured out what I was doing wrong.. I needed to put about a 12-16 inch piece of yarn around the inside center circle between the two pieces of cardboard before I start wrapping the yarn around the outside circle. We have to make sure the ends of each side of the piece of yarn stay hanging out so when we are finished wrapping the yarn around the outside, we can pull the two ends together and tie before we cut the yarn around the edge of the circle. That helps to keep the yarn from falling out while we cut around the edge. When we are finished cutting the edge we can then pull the two ends and tie very tightly, before removing the cardboard I use two 12 inch pieces of yarn or cotton yarn to make sure I get a strong tie without breaking. We can also use a separate long piece of yarn, but make sure that first piece is still between and around the inside circle before you start wrapping. Wrap around the piece of yarn and the cardboard at the same time. I hope this helps. :-)
I forgot to mention...As I'm cutting the yarn between the cardboard pieces..I'm tying the center piece of yarn tighter as I go. Cut..tie tighter...cut..tie tighter etc... I find it easier to have my hubby help me, but it's not difficult to do on our own. That's it! Happy Pom Pom making!
+Deborah Goins Thanks for the comment. All comments are welcome, what may work for one, may not work for another, so when we struggle it's best to share what worked for you, because down the line this may be the thing that helps someone else. So glad you found a way that works for you! Now you got pom poms! :D
Hi, o.k. when I do my pom poms, and tie it tight. The middle strings pull out easy, why is that? I purchased a glue gun but it's kind of hard to find the right glue that will melt down through all the strains of yarn. What can I do to keep the middle strains from pulling out???
Do you use Pinterest? I share links to many free patterns and you can too if you like! Come check it out and lets share what we find www.pinterest.com/meladora/meladoras-creations-community-board/
cassandra harrigan you could but it could get in the way and you may wrap over it by mistake. I have always found it easier this way, but you can do it however you like. It's your pom pom after all :D
I can't for the life of me make this Pom Pom! So frustrated! I have made them in the past but I must be doing something wrong now. It's falling apart before I cut halfway around. Do you know what I may be doing differently? Not think enough perhaps? Idk. Please help Meldora? Thank you so much for the video tutorial.
+Lolli Stark Yes this happens. I wish there was a full proof way to never make the strings come out, but without using hot glue...maybe floss could get a stringer tie, but in the end if they aren't glued they could fall out.
2awesomegirls〈3 using both strings, add them bear each other but not through the same stitch, tie a few knots and hide tails. The farther the tails are the less floppy the pom pom will be when sewn on
Unfortunately after trying this twice I still found mine fell apart, might have to use a strong cotton twine instead. I believe the thicker you make the pom pom the more flush it looks. Just saying.
As I watched this video, I thought I could hear bird chirps. I immediately went to my living room window because my regular outdoor birds come and usually chirp for me to put food out for them, but there no birds there! Do you have a bird chirping in the background? Too funny lol. Thanks for your fun video, I know some people wrap it around their hand but I like the old fashion way with the cardboard. Merry Christmas to you and yours (Dec. 13/15).
This is the exact same maker we all know except you cut a part of the paper... Actually i dont really get why. Ahhh, maybe is this easier to wrap the wool? If you wrap more and more wool, your pompom will be crazy bigger and more beautiful ! But btw, i see people comments the strings fall off, and i think it's cause you didnt left an entire round in your paper...
+Cieraena Eppley LOL that's funny. Takes some getting it down. Took me some time too as a kid, but now I've got it pretty good. Only thing I dislike about the puff is the strings come out. I wonder how the stores make them so well? How Glue inside maybe?

Yup, cool thing about this is you can make as big or small as you want and you can keep reusing the makers once your done. Just make the circles as big as you want yout pom poms to be.
Thank you for the demonstration of making a pom pom. I'll be making my own now.

My daughter and I thank you!
I really like your pom pom maker. I'll have to try it soon. I'd hit "like" if I had Facebook, but I don't have one.
Could put the string to knot it in between the cardboard pieces before wrapping. So much easier that way
Trop bien les pompon
Brilliant!!
Just make sure you have two tails, pull the tails into two different stitches and just tie knots
I loved this idea! Why not run your yarn around the two cardboards first so that you don't have to HOLD all those crazy cut threads at the end? I'll try this and see if it works! Thanks again!!

I FINALLY GET TO MAKE A NEAT RUG
if i may why not put you tie off string in between before you start wrapping?
cassandra harrigan you could but it could get in the way and you may wrap over it by mistake. I have always found it easier this way, but you can do it however you like. It's your pom pom after all :D
bravo
can we use wool instead??
One Direction...that's what makes you beautiful!😁😉
Wow
I can't for the life of me make this Pom Pom! So frustrated! I have made them in the past but I must be doing something wrong now. It's falling apart before I cut halfway around. Do you know what I may be doing differently? Not think enough perhaps? Idk. Please help Meldora? Thank you so much for the video tutorial.
+Deborah Goins It takes practice to hold the yarn down as you cut so that it doesn't come loose. Just practice practice practice :D
made a perfect one but all the strings keep falling off it
+Lolli Stark Yes this happens. I wish there was a full proof way to never make the strings come out, but without using hot glue...maybe floss could get a stringer tie, but in the end if they aren't glued they could fall out.
Should have threaded yarn thru the middle of the cardboard before wrapping on outside
Is there another way to make these? Cuz you can pull the yarns right out.
Best why is to not make it to thick so you can tie the string tight to prevent it form coming loose so easily.
Thank you!!
veri gud
You know those Pinterest fails? Well this was my UA-cam fail. So frustrated!
How do u put it on a. Hat
2awesomegirls〈3 using both strings, add them bear each other but not through the same stitch, tie a few knots and hide tails. The farther the tails are the less floppy the pom pom will be when sewn on
nice ji
I tried to do this but all the yarn fell off while I was cutting it. Can you give me an explanation?
Unfortunately after trying this twice I still found mine fell apart, might have to use a strong cotton twine instead. I believe the thicker you make the pom pom the more flush it looks. Just saying.
Wiseone 57 Yeah the tie must be very tight, but even with it the pom poms come out if pulled on.
thanks
How do you make the strings not come out
They always come out as it gets older, an idea is you could try putting a bit of hot glue around the area where you tie it for extra support
