You can lock the side hand hold for the roof. There is a small recessed detent inside the door when you open it so that you can put the male end of the removable key to either lock or unlock the hand hold. Hope that helps.
Wife had a 2017 Santa Fe with the 3.3L. It ate all the oil and stranded us on side the road for my birthday a year ago. Was under warranty thankfully, and it took 6months to get a small block. Wife got in multiple car crash and Santa Fe didn't make it, so now she has a 4 runner. Hyundai makes good looking cars with features but they can not make an engine.
I didn’t know Land Rover was at the top. We had a Jaguar SUV and it was flawless for the five years we had it but I thought that was a one off. 😃 in more seriousness I should have posted customer satisfaction with the product and service. Reliability is part of it and nowadays Hyundai might be ok for the actual product but looking at customer comments on forums the dealership and customer service experience seems to be awful.
@@is6566 Anecdotal evidence as you know is pretty meaningless. There is only one source that collects enough data to carry weight. Unfortunately it only goes back 3 years on what is published. Forums are horrible for dog piling. Say a 2002 Sportage was horrible. People grab on to that and project it way in to the future and others just pile on. In this Case Hyundai has done great after they got rid of the Theta II engines.
Fun Fact: Hyundai Santa Fe design was actually inspired by the 1990 Hyundai Galloper. Galloper was sold in Korea and other markets. But I also see LR Defender/LR3 and G-Wagon in their design language.
I 100% agree with Alex that fast transitioning seats are necessary. Power seats that take 15 seconds to move from one configuration to another are useless to me, especially if they are slow in the fold down direction. We have a "top of the line" 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited. Even though it is, by far, our oldest 4- season vehicle, I still love it! It has: - manual folding 3rd row seats that also have manual reclining and manual adjustable headrests - manual folding 2nd row seats that manually recline, manually move forward/backward and have manually adjustability headrests. The right seat also folds up to make it easier to get into the 3rd row. - heated 8-way power front seats, with manually 2-way adjustable headrests. The right front seat also folds flat so very long things can be slid all the way to the front windscreen. - dual zone automatic HVAC, with the second zone (heating only) in the rear. - all wheel drive that uses an electric motor in the rear to power the rear wheels. We find the system works exceptionally well in the winter here (as long as good snow tires are installed). It doesn't have enough power for offroading though (but we have other vehicles for offroading). I love everything about the SUV, with exception to the slow moving right front seat.
I love the look, but the fact that multiple buyers (including the Car Confection brothers) have had to have their transmissions replaced makes this a hard pass for me.
It wasn't multiple buyers having problems. Just one isolated incident with Car Buyers. They even explained the whole deal about it on its channel. But what behoove me is that Toyota and Honda are currently experiencing transmission problems in recalls, and no one is talking about it. It's like people are in denial and don't want to believe it when it's already active reports on it as we speak.
@@treads2595 You said 2...Where's the dozens of people who are having these problems, liar? And why no one is talking about Honda and Toyota active recalls on their transmissions? I'll wait until you come up with another excuse to bash Hyundai for an isolated rather incident than a massive one.
I've owned several nice SUVs. I purchased a new 2024 Sante Fe. It's my favorite to date. I received two separate keys for the side hand hold. They are not incorporated into key.
I just hope it drives smoother than my current Santa Cruz, im not a huge fan of dual clutch jittery transmission and that loud engine noise, im gonna check the hybrid version and see how it goes
My Santa Fe had injector issues at 14k miles and needed a new transmission at 24k miles. It took the dealer 6 months just to see me for each one. They make good looking vehicles that people buy based on wow factor. There’s no reliability and the warranty is shit when you can’t even bring it to the dealer to use it because they are “backed up.” My transmission issue still plagues this new one. Car confections got this Santa Fe and it didn’t even get 50 miles on it before it needed a new transmission.
My wife (77) can't get up in my 2020 Defender 110 P400 SE anymore so I need a lower profile. Currently have 35,140 miles with no issues, ever. What can I get for it?
That light gray interior is going to be hard to keep clean, along with the bronze since you can’t go through the car wash. I’m sure there is a key to keep that panel locked! I’d go with the green exterior and XRT trim.
Living in Nebraska and dealing with snow all my life, I don't understand reviewers obsession with 4 wheel drive. FWD especially with traction control gives you 95% of what this 4 wheel drive system would give you. Unless you tow there isn't a great reason to get the 4x4.
I was going to trade my Pallisade for one of these based on styling, tech and features. Then I heard it has the 2.5T with the DCT. That's a hard pass for me.
I wouldn't say they forgot about the spring. That's like saying they forgot to give you all the features a range rover has. It's a cheaper vehicle, and cost cutting is needed. But they did remember to give you a 10 year warranty.
Years of engine failure on Hyundai and Kia vehicles would hold me back from buying either. I love the look and features of their new vehicles. I would be more open to full EV versions since their gas engines have a terrible track record for failing early and needing to be replaced.
It could be cool if it had a higher ground clearance and/or air-suspension. Or a special model with offroad in mind. I looks like a Discovery 3/4 but nearly not as off road worthy.
2:00 The panel seems pretty useless. Ok, maybe for those who are vertically challenged. I just grab roof rails on my Disco. Santa fe has nice rails too, that are fine for grabbing.
I really wish car manufacturers would stop making those iPad tablet like dashboard!! Its so ugly Takes all the personality out making it boring AF inside
My issue with Hyundai and Kia is that they look cool, and have great color choices and packaging. The issue begins with the reliability. Yes, I understand you get a great warranty but I value my time. I don’t want to spend days or even weeks at a dealership. The issues with engines and transmissions are real. I know as reporters you all focus on the new, but a lot of people can’t afford constantly having a car payment and want something that will last a long time. And for that reason, I’m out.
Palisade Calligraphy... $52k ... way better ride, quiet, more space. Not sure what Hyundai is thinking. My wife drove the Santa Fe. We ended up in Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition in white. The Santa Fe needs to be about 5K cheaper. However with a new Palisade on the horizon I am sure it will see a price increase. The hybrid was the big sell for us with the Santa Fe. But the ride of the Palisade....
Come on, you guys! You should know better. That side 3/4 panel "handle" is lockable - you need to open the rear door and there's a keyhole to lock it in place. You can even see the keyhole IN THIS VIDEO, when you open the rear door. Don't you watch other people's reviews?!?!?!? Pretty awesome design. Though the lack of **separate** rear indicator/hazard light in amber/yellow is massively annoying... especially knowing that they do have amber/yellow rear indicators in other markets. Amber/yellow signal/indicator/hazard lights should be mandatory again.
That paint is designed to fleece you when you return the lease. A lot of leases are not given enough care that’s a very deceptive feature on Hyundais part
this Santa Fe does zero to 60 in 7.6 sec while the previous one did it in 6.1sec. i have the 2021 and after a test drive of the 2024 i drove home and found my 2021 Santa Fe to be much better.. that 1.5 sec makes a difference.will keep my 2021 Santa Fe.better engine..ignorant reviewers don t know this!
We were very interested in the 24 Santa Fe until we discovered they come only with a DCT. DCTs may make sense to accountants to improve gas mileage and mechanical designers to improve performance; but in real work applications? The DCT by design is terrible in stop-and-go traffic and if you spend a lot of time stuck in hills. That and how both Kia & Hyundai have dropped the DCT each time they put it in a mainstream vehicle because it was just so bad. I'd rather lose mileage to the old fashioned slushbox and leave the DCT to hybrid platforms where the electric motor does the heavy lifting.
I really think that Hyundai dropped the ball on this. Not a fan of the styling they are trending to. I own a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, love this design. And the tail lights, ugh.🙄
Nice review Tommy. You and Alex combined make this very thorough and informative.
This and the new Chevy Equinox really show how a styling change can pull at people's heart strings.
Well, I've been waiting for an update on the interior and wireless phone connectivity and other things.
