Speaking of monster killing, we should also give a shout out to the additional option of taking exquisite huntress combined with volley crossbow. Works a treat if you can get the headshots.
I would much rather have it so that you can still get stealth if you just block and dodge, but you only get crits if you parry. Then at least it would make Shade half-viable for anyone who isn’t the host.
I am disappointed that the only way to get invisibility for many people now depends on them being the host, definitely decreases the viability of the career for 3/4 of the players.
Then don't use the mechanic and you still end up with a class that's stronger than both shade in the previous patch and all the other elf careers. The headshot talent (which was always the best one for cata and above) got buffed, the ulti got crazy buffed on both anti boss and anti elite version. If you completely ignore the parry mechanic you and other players will have to play something that's only a bit stronger than WHC which is next most broken thing, instead of it being in the tier of its own.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with this build. I do want to say though I feel like she should passively have increased movement speed to help close the gaps to backstab.
The problem with X action from Parry is that it feels artificial, also the problem is parrying requires timing which is easier when host and gets harder when not host, I'm in the UK and play with some people who are close but the most are in America, some are Canadians and others are even Australians. Ping becomes an issue which this will make playing shade to her full ability harder when not Host
For Longbow on Cata, it may be wise to run Skaven+Infantry then on Charm Skaven *OR* Infantry (Skaven will help with fighting SV or Infantry if you wanna clear Hoard a bit faster and will help with fighting Maulers too) to reach Assassin Body shot breakpoint on Charged shots
The parry perk is useful sure but you have enough stuff to concentrate on in this game already, i don't now need to worry about attempting to parry and then rembering to dodge to stealth. It's also fair to be wary of it because if this perk exists its in place of something else and part of the balance of the class now has to compensate for a perk people don't like to use. If it was a talent then i could just not pick it and never worry about it, but it aint. Oh and not being the host, have fun with that.
Ayyy, I'm not a shade guy but the new changes had me interested in playing, and let me tell you, I've been having a ton on fun with almost this exact build, I just take Bleak Vigour instead to farm temp health on cheeky crits, with the dual daggers and Cloak of Pain you feel like an actual Assassin, doing mad damage! Plus the dodge stealth mechanic is fun to use, and I'm glad they made it optional, because sometimes you want to parry and not stealth, to keep aggro so your team doesn't get surprised while attacking! Also adding a bit of extra challenge for payoff feels nice, I don't often comment on your videos but I watch them all, some of the best Vermintide content on UA-cam, really keeping the community going for a game I love a lot, so thank you!
the passive invis fucked up mino rotation for other people real bad. Shade often goes invis during the 3 chops attack (mino's attack). And mino finishes its last chop on someone else very quickly. Leave no time to react. Usually you pause a little after mino third chop, in case it changes target. But now you have to dodge earlier and it could be the first or second chop depending when the shade goes invis. pain in the butt.
I cannot understand the functional difference between Shimmer Strike and Cloak of Pain... And I can't believe there's no conversations turned up on Google search. Can anyone help me? Don't they just both put you back into stealth?
You can chain Shimmer Strike's stealth indefinitely, as long as there are Elites/Specials for you to backstab. Note that this does *not* extend the damage bonus from Infiltrate. Cloak Of Pain guarantees you 2 full Infiltrates for dealing more single-target damage to things you can't OHKO or the option to escape after one backstab.

i dont understand why fatshark DIDNT lean more into parries at the beginning of the game. after this update, i've been finding good weapons to stick parry on, and it's pretty clutch. in situations where holding block won't help you, parry can help you stay alive long enough to get out of there, especially on shade with her new perk and grail knight with 20% free extra damage. even without those classes, putting parry on low stamina weapons can negate the need for block cost reduction or stamina regen, as long as you can pass the skill check.
Using parry on the shade would be incredibly silly, you become invisible after a parry and dodge, then your stam recharges, why would you throw away swift slaying to not lose stamina that you're about to regain?
