This final run was uniquely touching because it showed the torch's journey in other countries and cities. It should be noted that the 2008 Olympics torch relay is the record holder for the longest distance travelled.
Love the scroll extending and showing history and the guy "flyrunning" over the stadium. The music is incredibly beautiful. But the lighting itself, lacks a bit of emotion...I really wish it had been more emotive, like the Barcelona one, it would have made this ceremony the best in history.
This opening ceremony must have been the most ambitious and awe inspiring live show ever assembled. I still rewatch it from time to time and never ceases to amaze me.
Both Barcelona 1992 and Beijing 2008 have the most visually appealing torch passing and cauldron lighting. but for me, 1992 still is the best and heart-stopping cauldron lighting. while 2008 is the best opening ceremony that showcases cultures and traditions of the host country.
Yes. I saw the Newsweek Chinese edition a few days after and it showed the stadium with fireworks but the torch attachment was stowed on one side. Clearly as soon as Li passed the side where the Olympic Flame is to be finally lit, the torch attachment was activated so it could be extended and brought down to time with the flaming scroll
Agree.. If you think China Beijing Olympics 2008 is the Greatest and most Amazing Ceremony of all time in Olympic History!!! 💯☝️👌 Its spectacular and perfect. Also the longest ceremony ever.!! Top 2 is Athens Olympic 2004 and Top 3 is Rio Olympic 2016
Eh. It was a spectacle for sure. But, purely spectacle. There have been more awe-inspiring cauldron lightings. Barcelona was spectacle done right. Sydney's was very cool. Beijing's was pretty but overdramatic; the cauldron design though was absoultely beautiful. Atlanta's was the worst. Ali was what made it special; the cauldron and the method of lighting it was really third-rate. My favorite was London's. Simple and beautifully symbolic of what the games are supposed to be.
Bro I remember this as a three year old 💀 we were there maybe a week before they started the ceremony, so no people were there. And I remember a guy practicing running
The original design is more complicated and stunning, but S Korea's KBS exposed the design and we have to abandon it.......(later they stole the design in their pyeongchang olympics)
Came back here after Paris 2024. This one is definitely the most spectacular and the most beautiful Olympics opening ceremony ever!
Agreed!
Totally agree!!! Just WOW!!!
me too.
after watching the paris one, suddenly i miss so much of this scene.
so i am here.
now i feel the peace🙏
you forgot about Barcelona 😊
it's not

Beijing opening ceremony was I think the best opening ceremony... Best torch lighting still goes to Barcelona.
Have you seen Sydney 2000? There is a reason why it was called the best games ever and still holds the title to this day
I think Atlanta was the best torch lighting because of Muhammad Ali.
Beijing bodied this entire ceremony, torch lighting included.
Agreed!
Love the scroll extending and showing history and the guy "flyrunning" over the stadium.
The music is incredibly beautiful.

Most beatiful olympic opening cerimony of all times. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷

Watching it even in 2022. Still think this is the best esp torch lighting. Li Ning is one of most respectable athletes in 80s.
The torch lighting was unreal there is no denying. Both the walking scroll element and the way the flame was lit. Amazing.

I still get goosebumps watching this. What an amazing concept to pull this off!
It's one of my favorite Olympic Opening Ceremonies in any country and Beijing is the best of the best. ❤️
Best torch lighting ever! Still get amazed seeing this all these years later!
Most awesome torch lightning in history
Barcelona 1992 you mean?
@@venividivici9580 nothing beats 1992 for me
Barcelona is the best because it's so true to the Olympic spirits
Sydney 2000
Barcelona was the most awesome Olympic cauldron lighting
I’m here just to erase the memory of the 2022 “cauldron”
Absolutely Amazing. This is the excellent lightining of Olympic Torch world has ever seen.
今天再次觀看仍然感動落淚。
Respect the fire's journey man. It has been passed from man to man to finally reach it's peak
Best lighting in the olympic history
Who is here before the opening ceremony of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics
So amazing when the torch was ignited!

Why does this makes me emotional 😭
The best cerimony all the times.
Bejing 2008 opening ceremonies were incredible
So these Olympics were the Olympics the first Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games were based on? Cool
paris 2024 brought me here.
4:22 The Olympic flame is a beautiful Rose of Fire 🌹
no one host nation can beat this

@@praxton no, the worst was in 1988 Seoul when they fried those doves alive for all the world to see
@@praxton Agree 👍
@@summersalt3629 I forgot about that. Design and concept was better than Atlanta's though. Seoul just ran into an unfortunate and unexpected issue.
Bitter? haha
Cool Orchestra!!😭😭😍
I wouls shitted my pantalones if that was me
Bro I remember this as a three year old 💀 we were there maybe a week before they started the ceremony, so no people were there. And I remember a guy practicing running
He's the owner of li Ning company.. badminton rackets
That was soooooo..... Dangerous cauldron lighting ever!
So sad can't witness Tokyo 2020 Olympic this year.
Or 2021 either. :(
It’s gonna go on in 2022. It’ll be fun, one in summer and one in winter in Beijing wooooo!!
@@xwah5016 it’s happening in 8 days. 23rd July!
@@bonehand87 ik now, I’m super excited
@@xwah5016 looking forward to it.
I’m here after the absolute disappointment that was 2022’s cauldron
Thesizeof the Beijing Olympics Stadium remains the best the world had ever seen.
What if he dropped it?
We'd never hear from him again lol
They cut the wire
yeah, you can say tokyo is too perfunctory, maybe bcuz of the embezzlement?
Esta es la mejor de todas.
Personalmente el de Pekin y el de Barcelona los mejores encendidos de Pebeteros.
Spectacular!
It was the most perfect year in a very long time
Was he worried he was going to piss himself doing this?
Blazing fire
still great in 2022
i didn't search this video. and you?
I did
Beautiful ❤
still bring tears to my eyes, after 16 years, always proud to be Chinese
Still amazing until today. 👏👏👏
James I agree with you.
The Greatest Olympic Opening Ceremony ever!
Incredible.. Only Barcelona 88 can top this cauldron lighting. IMO 😍
Barcelona 92 😉 Seoul 88
This torch came to my primary school and we got to pass it around, but I went to the toilet cause I’m a dumb bitch.
Please bring back this cauldron next year.
Ok who's cutting onion!?
Expecting Tokyo would be the one to beat this but... nah
Best torch:
1 - Barcelona 1992
2 - Athens 2004
3 - Beijing 2008
4 - Rio 2016
paris WHO ?
Still remember when he started running. Simply the best.
If China was a real democracy, they would rule the world as the most powerful nation without a doubt. This ceremony was beyond perfection.
the western democracy only brings disasters to other countries
It became powerful with its own democracy. Other nations are just weaker with theirs.
Real democracy, lol, you mean American “democracy” 🤢
they could never do this shit in detroit
Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006, Beijing 2008 and Sochi 2014 - best torch lighting 😍
Great ceremony, but we thought they were our friends all the while. Makes me wonder how much info they got from people then and in 2022
I remember watching this and being moved to tears
2004 Athens Olympics ceremony will never be beat.
Best actual Cauldron is London 2012 but the most memorable lighting method is Barcelona.
@EJ Rose it was a amazing design
London lighting was incredibly predictable and lacked any tension. Very boring. No way would anyone say it was among the best lightings.
@@srwilson3s2k14 The design was amazing, but the execution ie lighting+relay leaves quite a bit to be desired
i like beijing torch lighting , not barcelona
hum nice
I am bias but London 2012 was the best
so... basically you are saying it wasn't.
Australia 2k best ever, this is close 2nd.
Barcelona 1992 is the best torch lighting ever
Muy aburrido mucho mejor el de barcelona
This is so overcomplicated and stupid. Still, better than Atlanta.
Chinese are good at unrefined and overcomplicated artistry.
The original design is more complicated and stunning, but S Korea's KBS exposed the design and we have to abandon it.......(later they stole the design in their pyeongchang olympics)
