i truly can’t believe Insecure is over. it was such a great show and a perfect finale. thank you HBO for giving Issa the platform for such an amazing show
Love how she paid respects to the former cast of her original UA-cam series Awkward Black Girl as she drove through L.A. This show was so needed and necessary. It was bigger than six seasons. It was a movement and call to action to create real and true Black narratives for us and by us. Thank you Issa and EVERY single person who made this beautiful show possible.
Those who said this last series was boring, they really don’t understand that the show was depicting NORMAL lives… it was a story of growth, friendships, love, loss & character development. This was a perfect end to everything, some people just aren’t emotionally intelligent
Haven't watched yet. But I can see her back with Lawrence. They loved each other. You don't just throw 5 years away. They matured when they got back together. She was shocked with the baby....but that didn't change their love for one another.
I don’t think it’s emotional intelligence as to say matter of opinion. Folks send shots over the difference in opinion could and would actually be emotionally immature 🤣🤦🏽♀️
Great ending to a great show. I hope networks see the potential for black stories that don’t require violence or making minstrel characters. I’ll miss this show truly one of a kind.
Will definitely miss the show…so sad that it’s ending but I’m glad they decided to end the show on a high note. I felt the finale was rushed, it didn’t surprise me that Nathan walked away from Issa yet again but I was surprised they had Issa ending up with Lawrence through the back and forth and back again. Nonetheless, I was happy that Molly ended up happy with a man who truly loves her. The BEST moment was when Issa and Molly had their moment after Molly’s wedding…it was so touching. It was also a nice touch when Issa drove past all of the landmarks that were a focal point in her life and showed how far she’s come.👑
Did Nathan walk away from Issa or did he chose himself bc he knew her heart wasn’t truly with him? A bit irritated that people keep speaking about him ghosting Issa in to get his mental health in order. We should be more understanding when people realize their mental health is more important.
@@buttafly4375 No issues with him getting his mental health together but a simple conversation explaining why he was stepping back (as he finally did in the finale) is more mature then him just ghosting her as he did in the past. No her heart wasn’t in it but neither was his as he never fought that hard for the relationship to begin with.
It wasn't rushed to me. They only had 30 mins and I wished they had more time. Like Issa said the only one doubting her was her... therefore what else did we need but what she gave. On the other hand I agree the bathroom scene with Molly was so authentic. I think that was Issa and Yvonne expressing their respect, true love for one another, not just the characters. The ending was great.... just showing where she ended, started and ended again. She came, she saw, she conquered on so many levels!
I was so happy when I saw the full circle moments, specially the broken p***y joke in the last minute and seeing Frieda at We Got Yall after three seasons. Yall really gave us everything in this series and this finale :')
Great job everyone! I was wondering how Issa would pull it off and she did not disappoint. All I would like to see is a MOVIE. Just showing Lawerence and Issa getting married and how they are progressing with their lives. Do Molly have kids and how is Kelly making out with being a new mom. Also, what is going on in Denver. HBO we need a movie.
I just rewatched the entire series since they put it on Netflix…best show ever but for some reason i connected with it more… I think it’s because I’m older now I’m 30 the same age they depicted in the show and it’s really just such real life!! I just love how it ended and how it started! My fav show
This is one of the first shows I've seen where so much of the characters lives resonated with me and my friends. This show will forever hold a special place in so many of our hearts. 💜
@@CandieP me and my "Lawrence" broke up right when the season first aired. Dated a "Daniel" for a while, chile 🤦🏾♀️. With my Derrick now though. These characters were written so well and we needed that.
Just binged watched all of the seasons! Although I hate to see the show end, I’m so thankful that we were blessed with such an epic show! This show was everything! It made us laugh, cry, dance and it also made us think and reflect on our own insecurities!
I feel like in the end when Issa and Issa in the mirror were finally on the same page about Issa insecurities they walked out the bathroom together ❤ 🙃
Thank you Issa and the team for giving us this gift that is Insecure. The last episode got me so emotional & reflecting on my own life journey and growth from the time I started watching the show in 2016 until now. Insecure was so instrumental for my healing. It was & will remain my safety place, a pick me up & a form of escapism whenever life gets unbearable. It taught me that eventually everything works out, not the way we envisioned it but ultimately, we heal, we grow and we overcome.
Issa I am so proud of you and your journey. I’ve been following your work since the Adventures of the awkward Black Girl UA-cam series and I absolutely love your writing style and the visuals you create. I’m so grateful for those 5 seasons of insecure because you represented educated, ambitious Black people in such a good light and us collegiate Black folk needed to see that representation. I wish you well in all your future endeavors.
I love this show to Englewood and back!! Beautiful work of art. Characters so full and rich and layered and deep!! I will miss them and the show… thank gawd for an endless supply of streaming rewatch!!
I will definitely miss this show and Insecure will always hold a special place in my heart. I watched the finale, then the next day I watched the documentary "The end" and then I watched all 5 seasons again, then my friends video called me from "The Dunes" because they are visiting California right now. Thank you all so much for giving us Insecure.
The finale was wonderful. Great idea using the birthdays to tie up the endings. And, I'm happy Issa and Lawrence are together. Insecure is a classic. And, yes, I can stop tweeting asking for the episodes to be an hour long as they should have been! LOL
The season finale encapsulated so many small details from past seasons like the dude in the Best Buy shirt as Issa was driving home, The Dunes building, certain phrases, familiar settings, old cast, Issas mirror monologues. I wish they wouldve shown more dialogue between Condolisa as a new mom and Issa.
Honestly, had Issa walked into the sunset with just her friends (what I thought would happen) I think it would have been just fine! But the ending we got was perfect!
These last few seasons and episodes I definitely resonated and seeing Issa come up like that after jumping into her business gave me hope and mollys growth. Am really gonna miss this show. But I honestly wait to see what Issa Rae does next truly phenomenal
The season finale was amazing! LOVED the way they used birthdays, didn't expect and Molly wedding so such a fun surprise. Great they ended the episode with Molly and Issa on the phone
On so many levels the evolution of this series and the development of its characters show what is possible and healthy when you let go of fears and insecurities to trust in the process that you will come through unbroken yet buoyed by hope on the other side. The enduring love story is Molly's and Issa's moreso than the latter's and Lawrence's. I revelled in the complexity yet simplicity of two black women going through the ebbs and flows of life via the myriad intersections and divergences that come with being and becoming a fully fledged yet fabulously flawed human being. When you whisper your dreams into the universe how the stars align may look foreign, foreboding but ultimately if you follow them they will lead you home.
Ok so I'm still MAD that she ended up with Lawrence because why spend so much time with Nathan and getting us emotionally invested in him only to go back from whence she came??? I found it to be inconsistent from a creative writing aspect because Lawrence the Character didn't really earn that position of Issa's boyfriend. What mental shifts had he made to be better...? I would have loved to see Issa in some counseling to really understand why she made this choice or better yet Lawrence who needed it after a depression (not just a career coach)... At the same time we don't really see Lawrence growing like Molly did in order to be a better version of himself. He was shockingly COLD to Condola... He was so lacking in his emotional intelligence he starts fights at TWO parties... Plus Issa was borderline emotionally cheating on Nathan.... Its not tracking properly in regards to continuity. But for Issa Rae the writer this was an amazing accomplishment and I'm very excited on her future and the art she will present to us going forward. I just needed more aspect to be better fleshed out and not as rushed, the pacing was off. Over all an outstanding show very proud of Issa Rae and love her work very much!!!!
Thank you for wrapping it up the way you did. Had it been some kind of crazy ending where nothing was answered or something totally from left field had happened, it would have been...well... Thankful the loose ends were all tied up. Thanks for the ride!
I loved being able to watch INSECURE all 5 seasons and I think the last 2 episodes were soooo well.done and it wrapped up balanced and hopeful. Insecure llegó en el momento adecuado de mi vida: me gustó mucho ver como la trama inicialmente se centrada en cómo Issa lidiaba con los problemas con Jay, y poco a poco todo fue enfocándose más en Issa y Molly. I liked the show very much! It was innovative in many ways, and it left many unresolved conflicts throughout the series (in my very personal opinion). I loved how free and relaxed the actors felt, and that showed in their highly skilled and realistic performances. The final episode? In my very personal opinion I still love every actoral performance because of its funny, original, and very realistic qualities … but I was overwhelmed with birthdays 🤪🤪 … while I was hoping for some of the many resolution for previous conflicts that were just up in the air. Unlike other shows where politics gets on the way of solving things the way “they want”, I feel that this show has open doors to do and end however they wanted, and many minutes were utilized on insignificant things. Again, I did like this show very much. 🥰
