My favourite movies as well, I sure hope you’ve seen the original Aussie version instead of the poorly dubbed US release… those early patrols are starting to get harder to find here but still plenty on the road. Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Definitely well worth a visit , you will absolutely love it. Especially if you watch the movie before going and find a list of the filming locations. I’m always happy to help with location links if you need. Glad you enjoyed the vid
Wow, I stopped and had a look at that same wreck near the river between broken hill and Ivanhoe only a few weeks ago, I then started to freak out when I notice all the Broken glass on the ground that I’d just driven over.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide Went bush not long after Darwin & the radio jumped out of the dash due to corrugations thankfully when I stopped listening to it before . . some political spiel & when turned channels all were word for word 1984 style same . . gave the radio caper up then
Mate, The was more cars traveling on that background road then Parramatta Rd, what was going on there, I thought you were out in the middle of desert. Love your channel. Cheers
Glad you are enjoying my vids, I filmed that on Sunday after leaving the Mundi Mundi bash. Those cars are out on the way to the Mundi Mundi plains only 500 meters off the road. There were 10,000 people at the bash and Sunday was a steady stream of festival goers heading home.
Yep, those little Leyland Terrier V8s were gutsy, just didn’t live long enough! Aluminum and water are not a good mix and coolant was not in the Aussie vocabulary at that time!
another brilliant film mate its great to see all this stuff thanks so much by the way not trying to sound picky A TOWN LIKE ALICE was in 1956 same year Melb got olympics your movies should be shown in schools teach kids a bit about our history thats if you can pry em away from their phones lol
Glad you enjoyed it mate, as you say the movie was in 1956, this was the 5 part mini series filmed in 1981 that was based off the movie. Totally agree stuff that that should be shown in schools along with Australian history instead of the rubbish in there these days.
My mate had a Leyland P76 he coped a lot of shit , but he had the last laugh he drove that thing for about 10 years then sold it to a fella who only wanted the motor for his boat . I believe he got all most what he paid for it . 🤣 🤑🤠
Ha mate good to see you explaining much info i appreciate it mate. Nsw now. Is nsw home ? Take care old mate. ) thank you allways for the videos 👍👍👍👍👍👍
cool stuff, you got a serious lift on the troopy !!, how high over stock and how have the uni joints been with it ??, cheers for the great videos champ
Glad you’re liking my stuff, the troopy has a spring over axle conversion, I’ve never measured it against a stock one but it makes the 35’s on it look small… unis last between 80,000-100,000 klms, the diff/transfer face angles are aligned so even with a steep rise the unis function correctly. It was lifted and fully engineered back in 1999 so it’s one of a few legal big lifts on older cruisers.
XA looks like an original wild violet car? Possibly a GS rally pack? That's why the tags were missing and the shocky tower were cut out to rebirth the car maybe.
Yes I’d say vinyl roof and wild violet but the steering column appeared to be a manual shift ? Either way it’s always suss to see towers cut as well as tags missing. I do love xa falcons, if I ever sell my zf fairlane it’ll be replaced by either an xa sedan or zircon green xt.
Can I ask why the cars that are left in the bush are so rusty compared to American desert finds? I live in Scotland so metal doesn’t last so long here.
Depending on where they are in Australia as to how bad they rust as we are a land of drought and flooding rains 😉. The climate here can change a lot in different areas . Thanks for watching.
My father had a P76 same colour bought near new for 1800 bucks. He ran it trouble free for 30 years after which it was bush bashed to destruction. Who said they were PoS??
Nobody can learn to love an Leyland . . to approach them you have to walk backwards & feel with hands to gain the hand hold entry point Lovecraft horror fashion . . like a slug or something with appendages where they should not normal be
Yes but at the same time it was all destined for the crushers when he did get them , both the mad max snake truck and the stunt car wrecks are on display at the mad max museum located 2 klm from this site now so at least that’s a good thing.
Bloody awesume mate love your footage , cheers , shaneo, nelson, nz, 👍
That Patrol is bloody glorious.
Sure is.
Thought I had seen this area before.
Instantly clicked moment you mentioned the snake truck and the interceptor.
Yep, for years they were hidden in plain site until someone sent pics into street machine magazine.
Another great video mate! What a great rear section on that XA. The boot is usually the worst for rust on them. Cheers!!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it, that xa rear really is exceptional as you say that’s where they all go bad.
I love the Mad Max movies. I had a Nissan Patrol back in the 80s. Impossible to get parts for it here in the states in those days.

This is a great video
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
A visit to Silverton is on my bucket list, loved the Mad Max movies especially 2

That’s one nice old patrol
I still have the tool kit from our one my dad bought in 76
We had a soft top on ours not that sweet hard top 👍👍
Wow that old patrol was a crank start a mate had one when i was younger, back in the 80s
And it’s in very good condition, doesn’t look like it’s moved in a while though.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide no i don't think that crank will start her lol

Tawko marine conversion ... you could drill the extra flanges and run triple carbs .I saw one years ago in another dry part of the state...
Someone needs to get some of those old boat red motors running
P76 - all the way from the factory in Zetland, Sydney. The V8 was a great car.
Yep, those little Leyland Terrier V8s were gutsy, just didn’t live long enough! Aluminum and water are not a good mix and coolant was not in the Aussie vocabulary at that time!

Poor old P76.
A good one was a good one, and a rubbish one was,,, well, you get it
Yep, in general they were well ahead of their time design wise.

They hauled ass, extremely light for their size.
Thanks Bloke nice
Glad you enjoyed it

Glad you are enjoying them, yes nsw is my base with a couple of big trips every year .
Your doing a great job old mate. ) take care allways and enjoy home
Take care old mate. )
Mad Max dog food in a can Spam was going for $9 recent in a small supermarket bless their hearts struggling
The yellow Humpy must have been used in the production but it does not appear at all in the mini series.
Quite possibly correct, that’s just what I was told by the owner. Thanks for watching
Would be awesome if you could edit in the references you made to specific movie props and scenes.
Yeah I’ll go up there and do a whole vid on mad max locations and include bits of movie footage for comparison, plus with the compound bits.
Always wondered where those cars where! Few things could save and restore still
They’ve been hidden in plain sight for decades there, it was great when the max cars were there.

They were very underrated cars for sure.
That patrol needs to be saved.
tawco engine marine kits were all you get back then , had a dog clutch no reverse, you had to plan ahead coming in.
Yes I remember a few mates having those setups, in timber ski boats.
🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
Mate there's days p76 were underrated ther were a very good car how could you go rong with a car that u put a 44 galin drum un it mate
I think they were ahead of their time really.

Personally I prefer to bag Roos and Steers , rather than wasting the bullets on breaking glass in car.. I guess small things amuse small minds
Yep, such a waste seeing that done…
movie buff , the owner mate ?
He was and worked in the industry mainly in security but also had bit parts as an extra in a lot of things .
Only clicked here because they mentioned a P76.
I hope you liked what you saw then , thanks for watching.
What a waste, the P76 was a really good car
They were a good car, ahead of their time when released .
Going by the petrol tank for that bike it had a v twin motor
Yes, Indian scout v twin
Xa coupe guy would love non rusty boot Channel I can garentee
I was thinking of that sedan he put the roof on when I saw how good this one was.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide that car came out like new it’s mint I’m amazed it came out as well as it did
Beware the Mad Max museum is full of fakes..but an interesting place nevertheless!
They do have 5 screen used vehicles amongst their collection though.
Appalling neglect
mad max is such a lame movie.i cant believe so many people actually like it.
Made in a time of no cgi with real stunts is a big attraction. Each to their own in movie tastes though.
Why destroy film and motering history by collecting it and leaving it in shit yard and destroy it all by neglecting all conservation
