What do you think we (as event decorators) should leave in 2024? 🤔

Decorating is a lot! I want to get out of my comfort zone and advertise! Everything you said applied to me 😂. Thank you! I've been watching you for a few years now! You taught me how to inflate balloons!
The thing that i need to leave in 2024 is to stop giving clients $500 decorations when they paid for $300. I tend to try and do more than what they ask for.
I used to do that too! I need to make a video on that. Thanks for the idea!
You're welcome. I can't wait to see the video.
Yass!! You are so right. As decorators we always do more for business sakes. However, clients expect champagne & caviar when they can only afford hot wings & beer. 2025 its a no!
My mother has a history of this; however, she has changed tremendously 😮
You are right about every single one of those! And thank you for announcing the class next month. I plan to be there.
Hey Lonielle! I agree with everything you said, whole heartedly. All of these resonated with me. I recently just sent out an invoice to a family who requested my services and was ghosted. One of my items to leave in 2024 is doing free or discounted work for family too😔 it may hurt but it has to be done.
It's a hard lesson to learn. Trust me, I know! Thank you for watching ☺️.
Yes you definitely hit the nail on the head! I definitely overwork myself for little. New Year new goals! Would love to take your class will be watching for info.
I love it when you talk about our struggles. I can connect to everything you have said. Let me share my story last year 2024, Community reached out to me last year to sponsor them for free for christmas party to celebrate their dignitaries and awards. i was like is a great opportunity to give back to the community to grow my business. I invested over $1000 in this. Everyone keeps taking pictures but i never heard the word thank you. I was deeply hurt by these ungrateful people. Just this year 2025 the community reach out to me again asking me to sponsor for free. At this point I felt like kicking someone to the wall. I was extremely boiling inside that i could not control my emotions. So yes never decorate for free, stop driving around to meet clients as they are just collecting free ideas they will not book you. The ones that will book you do not need lot of information. Thank you for communicating to us we the decorators. It a tidous work with minimum rewarding. I don't buy decoration anymore unless is needed and don't rent decoration for diy to break my items. I believe if decorators begin to work strategically this industry will begin to pick up again. The incoming decorators have made it so cheap that clients are turning decorators into slavery
Great advice ❤
These are really great advice! Each one resonates with me and I’m going in 3rd year. Stepping out of my comfort zone is my weakness 😢so after watching your video I know it’s confirmation. I gotta move 🙏🏾. Thanks!!
It's amazing you're already in your 3rd year! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks for this and I totally agree with you about EVERYTHING!!!! I’m guilty of most of these things. This was just confirmation for me. One thing that I used to do was start buying decorations before I received money from the client. I believed I could save whatever some items were on sale and then the client would pay whatever they gave me their payment. Needless to say, I don’t do that anymore and I decided that I would charge them if I had to place rush orders when they failed to pay on time. I’m still learning 😊.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the great advice. it is always appreciated. I purchased one of your contracts and used it on my current client. Thanks for offering your products.
I'm so happy you used it! I hope it worked out well.
I definitely stopped going to do draping measurements without a fee. Once i say i charge to measure i don't hear from them any more. Its a good way to ween out the time wasters
@@rentalinenandmoredecor i am going to start charging for this also.
@gloriaboateng4387 yes I was going last year measuring and once I gave the quote I didn't hear from them. Now I say it's a charge, I don't hear from them. Cause if your serious you'll pay me to come out measure and if you book Me then it'll be credited. 2025 I'm not doing it for free any more. Blessings to you
That #2 people in my area charge so low, which get me no booking cause they got these folks charging less. I always say God please send my clients that will pay my price.
All excellent advice! Thank YOU! P.S. I REALLY miss you saying “Guys”.
Awwww! I still say it. Just not at the beginning ☺️.
Wow 🤯!! This has truly blessed me! I’m guilty of most of the 7! Gotta get signed up for your class but I’m always busy the times you have them! I’m gonna be sure to clear my schedule for the next one! I need some serious directions!
I hear ya! I’m happy you enjoyed the video! Hopefully I’ll see you in class one day ☺️.
Advice 💯
Thank you for watching!
Whew #3 is me w/balloons! I’m trying so hard to get a handle on not carrying excessive balloon inventory! Especially foils
Me too! I’m trying NOT to buy any balloons unless I absolutely have to.
Ouch! My number 3 for sure. I see it and like it and buy it. Because I hate last minute anything and just feel I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Storage unit full, basement and garage. That's it. But all of this is great advise. Let's spend our Time and Money more wisely. TFS
I used to be like that too! Trust me, I get it! Now, I have a house full of decorations that I don’t use…
Great advice I have a photobooth business, and the rules apply to most businesses.
It's great to know the advice is helpful for more than just event decor!
Where did you get those silver chrome balloons
I used those balloons in this video: ua-cam.com/video/jjYZVtwqI6g/v-deo.htmlsi=fNW-skqFOlSEn7Lp. Thanks!
Where is the classes? Is it virtual? Please tell me I need it.
Yes! All of my classes this year will be online. Here’s the link to sign up: www.yeseventdecor.com/classes.
A few of these are me. I buy decorations because I like it and want to have it even though I don’t have a clue when it will be used. Also guilty of giving away free decorations because I WANT them to be added to my decorations. I am not doing it anymore! Leaving it in 2024!
We have to tell ourselves no, which is so hard when it comes to buying decorations. This year, I’m not buying anything unless I absolutely have to. I’m going to use what I have.
I want to sign up
Yay!!! Here’s the link to sign up for my classes: www.yeseventdecor.com/classes.
Ok got it but do you do one on one?
Or will you have classes in Atlanta?
@@feliciaelston8966Yes, I have a one-on-one online class. I will personally walk you through creating a balloon backdrop. That’s available on my website too.
Number 7 is me all the time.
It’s a hard one to shake! I’m going to work on it this year.
@YesEventDecor me too
Are there design styles you think we should leave in 2024?
Hmmmmmm 🤔. That’s a good question….
