Hi Gareth. I too have always found it a bit of an artform making a P.N, especially when half-cut, and I'm a ruddy chef 😂.
    Three Golden Rules:
    A) Never split the seal (you'll need to pop it over the top twice)
    B) Never over fill. Underfill if anything, however tempting it may be to add more because it 'doesn't look quite enough'. Tricky if it's a King Size.
    C) Don't get stuck in too early; go for a cig and be patient.
A Bombay Bad Boy hits the spot, esp if cut with a Pepperami Fire-Stick; Chick & mush with your own stach of soy sauce added as well as the sachet - same with the Chow Mein one. The Sweet & Sour one and the recent Cajun Chicken one I find repellant, really 'orrible. Divided on the curry sauce one. The Doner Kebab one is a banger.
    Great post, pal 👍.

Chicken and mushroom fir me. I was about 16 when they first came out and I used to have them at lunchtime as they were quick. I’ve now been spoiled with ramen and I make a huge pot of the stock using bones, meat and other goodies. Freeze portion size bags and I’ve always got Japanese noodles that take couple of mins to cook. Microwave the stock and voila, a ramen in the same time as a pot noodlek

If you remove the foil lid it will give the steam a chance to escape. Re-covering the pot traps the steam inside and won't allow it to thicken.

Must admit, I'm a sucker for PNs.
But you do need to add to them. Especially the chick & mush..... Ditch the watery soy sauce and use your own. Add a decent pinch of salt, a good shake of black pepper & a grain of rice sized squirt of garlic purée. Sorted 👍

You should do a stuffing review you know, ready for Christmas! Aldi, Tesco, Lidl etc all do their own brand of sage & onion stuffing, you could compare them alongside paxo, you could make half a bag up of each (just get the texture right), freeze leftovers for the big day or for buffets!
I love a pot noodle, as a disabled individual when I’m in pain, they’re part of my emergency quick dinner cupboard along with mugshots, noodles, cup a soups etc. Fill a hole & mean I’m not going to bed hungry! Worse things to eat out there right? lol. However, I can’t stand an overwhelming flavour or sage, makes me gip 🤢 lol!! So I think I’ll give this one a miss!! Xx

The Standard pot is now £1.20, and the King is £1.40, but Asda has a 2-for-£2 offer on Kings at the moment, so a quid each. They didn't have this new one on sale yesterday, but I'll keep an eye open. I did notice that Morrisons had 2 new ones on sale, "King Pot Pasta Bolognese" and

Preparing a Pot Noodle should be a recognised art form.
    1. Crunch the pot noodle up before you open it.
    2. Fill to the plastic lip line, about inch from very top. Not the marking on the pot.
    3. Add Soy Sauce plus your own soy sauce to Chicken and Mushroom. Add tomato sauce sachet plus half an OXO cube to beef and tomato.
    4. Add some extra salt to taste.
    5. Recover with foil lid.
    6. Eat with a slice of cheddar cheese. Or a sausage roll. Or a pasty.
    7. Use a spoon and NOT a fork.

If you want a cheap lovely Christmas dinner get a Pork Joint and a jar of Strawberry Jam which is much nicer than cranberry sauce. Use a chicken stock cube with Brussel sprouts, stuffing and real Chips !!! I buy Chinese Noodles in packs of 40 for about £16. They are much nicer than Pot Noodles. You can make nice stuffing using sausagemeat with sage and onion herbs.

I got a Christmas pot noodle for 50p last year, there were 100s leftover, still haven't had chance to eat it 😂
I'd be tempted to make my own, with lidl stuffing, noodles and chicken, and add cranberry sauce, not sure how it'd turn out but might be worth doing a DIY version!
I have to admit, pot noodles are the one good I can't finish a whole portion of, a bit much 😅

Thank you sir! My late grannie was in her 80's when she passed, and like so many Brts, being born into very real poverty, and living thru WW11, she had a resolve that could bend steel if she had to - and did so in front of me on occasion. Will replay the fine film and ensues the P.N mentioned are in the next food parcel! That was a lovely, thoughtful, comment Gareth and I thank you bestist. VBW x

Do you think that food producers are spraying the packaging to produce the smells when opened? Was easy to do 30 years back, and only used (then) for litho-printing the thin latex solution for scratch - cards. Times and tech have vastly improved, and I'm certain any smell can be replicated in a safe, controlled, manner on press to comply with current food regs. Wot say you, is there merit in having a scientist (or some other clever 'wotsit') looking into this via a viewer dedicated fund,. My impoverished bani card is ready and waiting! VBW x

When I was working many years ago as a security guard at night. I used to have Pot Noodles. But found that some of them used to give me stomach aches. So stopped eating them. Mind you I was never as patient and precise as you are with them. I just boiled water, filled up to the level, mix and ate.

Aternoon Gareth! Hope you and the family are in fine order, & looking forward to the forthcoming festivities (wot ever thems is) I have never eaten a pot-noodle - ever, but will add this to my next ASDA order. I love the adjective 'claggy', not heard this word used, since my teenage years and a conversation with my dear, late, nan (RIP Gran!) We were both burnin London, and pretty-much remained there. The word was used to describe people/objects as being 'diirty,' unsanitary etc. Will investigate this unknown 'nose bag' in the next month or so.VBW x
