Te Waikoropupū Springs also known as Pupu Springs are located in the Takaka Valley, South Island, New Zealand. Te Waikoropupu Springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand and the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere. The springs have spiritual significance to Māori people. The underwater footage was taken out of the forbidden zone. The springs drain into Te Waikoropupū River and add it significant water volume.
