Cheers for the shout out, tried a couple of different things to see of the algorithm could be a little kinder and hopefully this is a sign that it is. I hope to continue to spread the gospel of Commodore.
Brilliant roundup and thank you for another great year of RGN videos! You’re so right about Yeti Mountain getting the attention it deserves. Here’s to hoping the highly talented team behind the game will take that underlying engine and develop a new game in 2025 …
Well one of the members of the team has just taken out this year's award and the other one runs a little Commodore centric youtube channel :) I know Russell (the coder) was slightly disappointed with the limited impact that the game has had on C64 gamers in a broader sense. At first we thought it might have been due to the cost of digital but it is cheaper than both Timo and Tony, both of which obtained well deserved penetration. Hopefully the Yeti result here, along with the high praise it receives from other coders and serious C64 players will encourage him to start up another project sometime in the near future.
Congratulations to everyone who made the list! I’m still working my way through playing everything. However, I had so much fun with Yeti Mountain, that I booked an actual ski trip while on vacation after playing. 👍
The most enjoyable part of putting these type of things together is seeing the difference in preferences from each of the voting participants. Would be happy to reach out to you next year if you are up for participating.
I'm impressed. These were really some great games! I was worried that it would be filled with a bunch of "Let's see what we can do with 4k" attempts. Sorry, but they just get old... We don't need to see how little we can do. We need to see how great and amazing we can do! These games ALL looked like they could simply capture my limited attention span for hours on end. I didn't even disagree with the #1 choice. Great job devs!
That is the beauty of these types of videos - it is a reflection on the quality of the C64 scene. What initially felt to me like a bland 2024 ended being one with the most depth as I think any of the top 6 could have taken out the award.
@@RetroGamerNation I agree completely. Things were doing really well for a while, but then; it seemed like it fell flat, with very little of interest. I even started to debate whether or not I wanted to see the 2024 lineup, but I'm really glad I did. They all seemed to have depth to them, and reflected a labor of love, as opposed to a quick win on a 4k contest. :)
Fantastic video, and congrats to all the participants - both ranked and not - which absolutely deserve their glory moment. I accept the final verdict, although saving a completely different view IMO (Spelunky 64 as 6th, hahaha!).
@@kathyf123 I am working to get it back up again. My webhost (tsohost) closed down and left me high and dry, with no access to my data. I am literally having to use wayback machine to access my own articles. Naturally, I am v stressed by the whole situation.
Jon is Itch.Io not an alternate solution for you? Seems like some missed opportunities following interest arising from the recent couple of Top 10 videos
@@RetroGamerNation The automated censorship here on YT is so bad I couldn't even give a proper explanation for my website being offline! As for itch, I did consider it but did not like their terms of use, hence I am trying to get my own site back online ASAP.
If it's an Adventure, RPG, Strategy, or SIM, I buy everyone (of the few), but if there aren't any for a while, I go back to my Gunship, Ultima V or Deadline by Infocom! :)
Nothing in the list that pushes the current standard on the C64, Eye of the beholder but some quality on display definitely. Yeti mountain is the only one I'd remove from the list, just my option.
Not intending to make a habit of it and it was never used in the actual video. It was a bit of an experiment to see if it brought in new viewers, which it did. At least I know what I am up against in trying to turn around a declining viewership.
If Louie finds that AI thumbnails increases his viewership, and thus motivates him to make more videos - then that's a small price to pay, to have the joy of realizing the continuation of his quality content.
Wow number 1! I can’t believe it, a big honour, especially with all the high quality releases in the top ten. Congrats everyone.
Congratulations Monte!
@@RetroGamerNation Thanks Louie! And thanks for your ongoing support of my projects and the C64 scene overall.
Thanks for including me and congratulations to Monte Boyd. InfeZtation is a real banger!
Your input is always appreciated Adam, have a great new year.
UA-cam algorithm added this video to my home page and I’m glad I watched it! I had no idea so many cool new C64 games. Great video!

We were honored by your visit thanks to the almighty algorithm MJ!!!
Wow! 2nd Place! A proud moment for team Pixelbrei Games. Thanks a lot to the jury members who gave their vote to Timo's Castle.
Congratulations on Timo and the overall reception it has received.
Thanks for the kind words on Nixy, we put a lot of work in to this game and its really nice to see how well its been received !
Yeah, good choices for the year. Thanks for making this video...I bought all of these games through the year. Happy new year.
It ended up being quite a good year in terms of game releases. Quite a bit of depth there. Will be interesting to see if 2025 can match it.
Congratulations to everyone who made the list!
What a great time to be a C64 fan....and a great way to end 2024!
Fantastic video, thank you for including me in this years voting. Keep up the good work, and a very Happy New Year to you.🎉
Thank you for your friendship across all these years. Have a great 2025
Very very nice video, thanks ❤

Love it! So good to hear the love towards Yeti Mountain, it should make Russell (the coder) feel so much better about its reception.
Picked up Timo, because of this list.. Otherwise would have missed it! Cheers!
Great to hear, Timo should be in everyone game library.
My own list would have a lot of differences to this one, but it was another great year for Commodore 64 games.

@RetroGamerNation Always happy to participate in C64 things!
Still some here I haven't got to play yet -- great video!
Great video, great games, congratulations to all!

Any of the top 6 could have taken out the award this year. The difference between first and sixth was not huge.
I would have had Yeti Mountain at #1. Glad to see my Seawolves made the list too!
Me too :) but I had to disqualify myself from voting for it as my favourite.
Too bad your website is always down, I cant buy the game.

Seems 2024 was the year of the HIRES :)
So many platforms, but that was expected. I think that Tony stands out a bit, especially the colour version.
Yes, I noticed this as well. Considering that many of the nominated games outside of the top 10 were not platformers, it seems most of us prefer them.
Nice. I really like the simple concept of gridlock. Ill give that a try.
If you like your puzzle genre then Gridlock is a no brainer.
I took down the games I haven't tried yet - A very nice selection for 2024 :)
