What an apt title for someone who is often compared to Bowie...not nothing to sneeze at in being a compliment really but...Peter Murphy is his own man and I've been hooked for 20 plus years. One of the the very best concerts I've ever been to was seeing him at the Greek and seeing him perform. What a show! And what an "Artist". Bowie is actually my all time favorite solo legendary artist out there but Peter is so solid in what he does in pumping out great music that he ranks number two all time at this point for me. I'm a nobody but hey, in my opinion the guy is pretty freaking awesome...

But, that night, people in the audience were throwing copies of Anne Rice's, "Vampire Lestat" on to the stage and and they were calling out for Bauhaus songs... Even then, I was like, "really people?" Peter broke in at one point and said..."yeah. Okay, but what about MY material?" "Some dude in the audience shouted, 'Don't be shy, Peter!" I laughed. Peter said, "yes, I get the joke (Deep LP), but still...Isn't anybody interested in MY Work?" Later he embraced his earlier years...Kind of like when Leonard Nimoy want to be "Not Spock," but later grew to terms with it? "I am Spock." That was a brilliant show, btw.

What I think happened is, Peter went into the studio with Youth - to those who do not know Youth from Killing Joke--another big group from the 80s that has still had a lasting influence on "alternative rock" today. They must have felt that old "rage" being back together--cut from the same cloth, and this is what they came up with in what, 10 days was it? Perfect! I think it's Peter's best piece of work since Love Hysteria..

Thank you for posting the lyrics!~ Wow, what a writer. Pete should really write his memoirs, like David did. As mentioned in a previous comment: I thought and still think this is Pete's best work since Love Hysteria. I was saddened by the fact that he did not perform this song on the Lion Tour; or, at least on the Paradise Boston stop of the tour. But then again, there were other magical moments for me, on this night.
This is one of the best videos Peter has ever come out with and purely from a creative innovation perspective THE BEST. Overall "All night long" would be my #1 pick, "Cuts you Up" #2 and this one #3. This Lion album got me interested in Peter's work again. His best since Cascade and in total I would rank Lion as Peter's 5th best album and give it 4 of 5 stars. I lost interest in him for a long time after he came out with that horrible album in the mid 2000s "Unshattered"-- I don't know what the hell he was thinking with that one... "Ninth" was good but not great. I would rank Peter's albums in this order: 1. Deep 5+ of 5 stars 2. Love Hysteria 5 of 5 stars 3. Cascade 4.5 of 5 stars 4.
