I'm not sure if im correct, but i belive the more lives you spare the more merry men you get. Or if thats not correct it could just be that a there are options for pacifist/genocide playthrough where you try to spare as much as possible or actually spare everyone, or just simply kill off every soldier. I myself did a pacifist run way back, it is possible (not counting the ones you have to kill for story progress)

2021 I still play this game :) soo fun ! But until now , Not much understand about lives spared % meaning to this game.

This game should be updated or batched .
we modded this game and did some things like Unit and Map Editor now also with a launcher you can even play borderless now :)
