Brings to memory of my late Daddy telling of listening to 1926 Cards-Yankees World Series on radio in drugstore in Drew, Missisippi...he said that was the only radio in town :-;
the black and white videos are from the documentary Ken Burns: Baseball. it's probably the greatest thing to air on television, you can watch it on Netflix or the MLB network
in the 19 world series, Joe hit 365, threw out 3 men at home plate and it would have been 5 if the shortstop hadn't cut off 2 throws. In the final game he got 4 hits including the only home run in the series. Doesn't sound like a cheater to me. DW'
man u said it baseball is an amazing thing i cant find another sport i fell the electicity when play...i joined football jus to get stronger for baseball next season but i dont feel the adrenaline ike i do when i step over the base line
Rookie baseball player: "Put me in, coach, I'm ready to play today!" Rookie airline passenger: "Put me in coach, between the smelly fat lady and the crying, puking child. I'm that eager to save a few bucks."
This is nice, but did they take the official video down? I love that with the umps smiling when the sun comes (in direct opposite of the Normal Rockwell painting)
Makes me think of the 50s and 60s when we waited for Mays, Mantle, Marris, Reese, et al to re-appear and be our heros for the up coming Little, Junior, and Babe Ruth Leaguge seasons. What a wonderful life when all you had to worry about was getting a hit and making that double play!!
For all you baseball fans, check into getting the DVD "The Golden Age of Baseball". Covers from around 1940 through 1970 or so. You get a good look at all of the old stars and old ballparks. Great way to spend a few hours.
This song always gives me chills...It means it's time once again for me to go to baseball games all season long w/my dad and my son. I'm 38, and I still bring a glove with me to every game...you know, just in case. :)
when you walk out the tunnel to a game and you see the field the goose bumps you get is the love for the game whether you played it or not. this song does the same thing, best baseball song ever!!!
My favorite pitcher had to retire ): I loved Randy Johnson, My hubby and I watched as he threw that pitch and accidentally took out that poor bird. It was sad and yet an "aha" moment for Randy as well, you could just see it in his face..lol.
this song takes me back to my travel ball days. I was once purposely hit with a wild pitch in my knee. I of course, rushed the mound and showed that pansy pitcher was baseball is!! anyway, GO BRAVES!!(:
Its pretty bad when I crank this song up and jam everytime it comes on, and I didn't even know it was about baseball. I guess I've been singing the wrong words my whole life :0
I wish, with all my heart, that I could have been in my youth, living in Brooklyn, from the late 1940's thru 1957. To have watched "The Boys of Summer" would have been a dream come true. Campanella behind the plate, Pee Wee at short, Jackie Robinson at second, The Duke in center, Furillo in right and playing first base, my all-time favorite baseball player, Gil Hodges. American Baseball folklore in a small unassuming stadium, that's for sure. Only my dad was a bigger hero to me than Gil.
Baseball needs a salary cap which means a team can spend so much a year without that who has the most money usually wins baseball making the sport unattractive to alot of hardcore fans including myself who has turned to the new American pastime football.
A great college baseball coach and Boston Sox pitcher Boo Ferriss died last month. He won 65 games and lost only 30 until a shoulder injury ended his career in 1948....Miss you, Coach. You knew all of the 40s-50s major leaguers. You gave me a start in my sportswriting career. I am only one of 1,000s who you played a major role in their careers!
This song always reminds me of spring training. Fresh Florida air, Small but pristine stadiums, Autographs, Kids trying out for the roster, a much more relaxed feeling than the regular season
Baseball rules!!.."Centerfield"..a real classic..gotta love John Forgerty..also; if you enjoy baseball songs..Check out some great ones on Ace Diamond's "Playin' Baseball" CD..(12-tunes) on all major download sites! You'll love it!
It's a great song. I like to say this song should be played in dedication to the Brewers crew chief of 30years, who died on the field at Sunday (7-1-12) game.
The occasional smell of a cigar takes me back to attending Cleveland Indians games with my dad at the old beat up Municipal Stadium in Cleveland . Took my sons there when they were little too. Now they're grown and moved away. These days I go to minor league games at Classic Park near my home by myself. Nothing like front row seats by the bullpen on a 75 degree day , a hotdog and a beer and chatting with the guys in the bullpen. Oh I occasionally snag a foul ball too. Love this song and all the memories it brings back.
"For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land." - Ernie Harwell on Opening Day every year for over 40 years as the Detroit Tiger's radio announcer.
Why can't someone like rap -as well as- the classic rock stuff? That's like saying that rock people can't like country.... I love me some Reba McEntire but I'm also a metal head.
Wow. That was great. I love the official video to Centerfield, but this was good too. It gave me chills when I saw Robert Redford near the end. I loved The Natural.
I saw Mickey Rivers go from first to home on a line drive to left. The left fielder bobbled it as Rivers passed second and he never paused or looked back, slid under the tag, safe, Yanks win, game over.
La bamba and Brown eyed handsome man. Nice guitar and voice. John F hits a winning run even if he is put in cold. Interesting book in which this song gets a mention.
Not a real big baseball fan, but this song just makes me feel good.
2nd base...., Right field..? whatever..Put me in coach!! This is timeless as the National Pastime and one my favorites. Thanks John. gO cuBS gO
Brings to memory of my late Daddy telling of listening to 1926 Cards-Yankees World Series on radio in drugstore in Drew, Missisippi...he said that was the only radio in town :-;
This song raises hair on my neck...I played as 11-12 year-old...no greater game...61 years ago
I can't wait!!
For my son, Joe, my late Daddy, and my grandson Seph! I love you all!

One of the most popular song 🎵 when baseball ⚾️ is played in every baseball ⚾️ Park game and cities its a classic rock and rock song 🎵 👌 🎶 🙌
This is nice, but did they take the official video down? I love that with the umps smiling when the sun comes (in direct opposite of the Normal Rockwell painting)
liked it , damn i m glad i love baseball
Centerfield is definitely the best position to play as well as pitcher! #baseballswag "How can you not be romantic about baseball?" -Brad Pitt
James Earl Jones little speech in "Field of Dreams" says it all. Baseball is the American dream even for kids didn't see well enough to play.
10 people are obviously either tone deaf or rap dummies. This is what a living legend looks and sounds like. Keep on rockin John!
First practice February 4th!! Just got a new glove:) love that new glove smell
That was unbelievable to me when he died. At least the Brewers are in the running for the wild card.
For all you baseball fans, check into getting the DVD "The Golden Age of Baseball". Covers from around 1940 through 1970 or so. You get a good look at all of the old stars and old ballparks. Great way to spend a few hours.

If you can have a been and a smoke while doing it, its not a sport- its a passtime.
Now that Ohio State has won over Oregon.....Go Cleveland Indians ! Have a great season !!
Love the footage from the Phillies at Citizen's Bank Park. Love this song. He mentions some of the greats of the game.

when you walk out the tunnel to a game and you see the field the goose bumps you get is the love for the game whether you played it or not. this song does the same thing, best baseball song ever!!!

It's a great song. I like to say this song should be played in dedication to the Brewers crew chief of 30years, who died on the field at Sunday (7-1-12) game.
Play hardball in the sun, until they take your uniform away! Or until they drag me off the field (still playing Sunday baseball at 44 yrs. old)...
I HAVE TO DANCE TO THIS FOR MEMORIAL DAY
