WHAT CCR's first album has been on the top 100 albums since 1971, hell everyone has cut their songs and Aretha made a lot of money off 2 of their songs. AND he's touring right now in 2024
This was his first solo song he wrote, and recorded, after leaving the music industry, because his music was stolen from him, and he made no loyalties off of it. After a lengthy court battle, he won. It was about baseball, but wasn't really about baseball, it was about him being ready to get back in the game of the music industry, that he had lost trust in. He is a talented man. I'm glad that he persevered over it all, and continues to play the game.

Mom, I can call you mom. You sound like my late grandmother, oh she loved baseball- was a Dodgers fan from when they were in Brooklyn. She was so very excited when The Rockies finally began playing ball. She passed away in May of '94. I miss her. Anyway have you seen Meat Loaf "Paradise by the Dashboard Light?"
Lost my mom a couple years ago. From her i got my love of baseball and the LA Dodgers. I have the MLB app and this season i watched a game of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. There is nothing better than a good game of baseball. Anyone can see themselves somewhere in this song, whether it's on the field or in the stands. Baseball brings people together ❤
Sent the video to my dad. I'm 54 his response was our team practice was as classy as the video...when your a kid the players..especially my dad looked awesome. Just like the guys in the video😊
The power and majesty of a home run... The quick, Helvetian precision of a triple play... The daring thrill of a stolen base... The crisp crack of the bat... The verdant grass of the outfield... Forget soccer. THIS is the Beautiful Game. :)
Seems to me they haven't tampered with Baseball quite as much as they have with some other sports (especially "pro" football) - and to me that's a big part of the game's appeal.
Don't be hating on Soccer (Association Football). I love it and baseball equally. I have a lot of Soccer loving friends who hate baseball just as strongly as you hate soccer and I have to fight them just as hard as I am fighting you now. Open your eyes!
Grew up 8 blocks from the original Yankee Stadium in the days when the players would still park their cars on the street and throw a couple of bucks to us kids to "keep an eye" on their cars. After the 4th inning we could get in any game because we were familiar to all the ticket takers...Baseball was so Pure and Simple back then...(I'm 62)...when my dad saw this video at my apartment in the mid 1980's he was able to rattle off the names of literally each and every ball player in the video...he laughed so hard that afternoon that it was a real pleasure to me. He was an "All City" left fielder in high school and that was a real achievement considering how many High School athletes are in the NYC public school system. Just after completing his senior year season with another City championship he enlisted in the Marine Corps and fought during the Island Hopping Campaign in the South Pacific. I apologize if my comment is too long...I just needed to share these thoughts...Bless...
No need to apologize. It's great to see other people enjoy great music and honer their dads. I love reading these comments. I'm 68 and enjoyed watching my kids play sports.
Keeping this one going for another generation! I heard this as a kid when I played ball. Now doing the same for my daughter who's playing ball. Love you girl keep it up!
My son has CP and just started playing his first special league baseball season. They play this every game and it gets me every time. It's impossible to have a bad day and hear this for me.
I maintain that this is the greatest Love Song ever written. Covers a multitude of the things we love. Sunshine, new grass, playing games, a chance to shine, the support of our fans. Et. Al. But, the plethora of baseball terms that put a positive and lighthearted spin when applied to romantic Love, is a good, less awkward shorthand.
Baseball was the common thread my brother and me had .He was born in early April, I was born late September.... that is when the season starts and ends. Everyday the weather allowed we would play catch and pitch to each other from the time we were 7 years old. As adults we played softball together for 15 year's. My brother suffered from depression and a few years ago took his life. Listening to this song brings back so many good memories. RIP my brother.
Imagine being a kid in NYC in the 1950s dreaming about playing centerfield. A short Subway ride could take you to see Mickey Mantle in the Bronx, Willie Mays in Manhattan and Duke Snider in Brooklyn on any given day. Truly a golden age ⚾
The footage and this song just makes me smile! Used to be a catcher for 7 years before i blew my knees out! Im a pro musician now but i still love the game and John Fogerty rocks!
When I was a kid, back in the early 2000s, my tennis coach used to play this song at our lessons. It brings back a lot of great memories from me. I really love the energy that John Fogerty put into this song.
Every year since 2016 on opening day I watch the Cubs WS dvd & listen to Centerfield. Grew up watchin the Cubs at my great grandma's on a little tv on a TV tray while eating popcorn & I wouldn't trade it for all the big smart tv's & surround sounds in the world.
I love your story! My new tradition starting today is this song and watching the last inning of my beloved Rangers first ever win! I cheered on your Cubs in 2016!
I post this on Facebook every Opening Day. I love my Texas Rangers...but, I don't care if you pull for another team. If you love baseball then we just have a very special bond.
I coach little League softball and introduced this to my girls during practice. These small 7-9yr old girls sing along and now call this their hype song. I remember doing the same thing when I was playing ball. *Go Pink Sox*
My 12 year old made the Allstar team and he picked this song at 2:45 for his walk up song, he actually smashed a home run last game right after the song played.

You rock😂
My Dad taught me to be quiet while His Tigers were broadcasted by Ernie Harewell, I seen Al Kaline make a shoestring catch to beat the Yankees at home in Aug of 1962. Though Al broke his collarbone : it made me a life long fan ❤️❤️❤️❤️
R.I.P. Hammerin Hank Aaron... God Bless... True American and Baseball LEGEND.
Hammered 😵 by the shot 💉⚰️!
R.I.P indeed such a big influence Hank was 💯
Amen!
Definitely an eternal great

John Fogerty is a poet in the league of Bob Dylan and John Prine. This man really knows how to express meaning so beautifully in a few well curated words.
Im mexican, i know anything about baseball but this song made me feel curiosity!
No
@Like Bot - Well said.
The lyrics are really nothing more than a bunch of baseball catch phrases, cleverly strung together in a song.
I love baseball. Fuck Ukraine.
My dad loved this song. He passed last year. My 11 year old son now plays.......centerfield.
My family sittin out on the porch summers evening listening on the radio to Pittsburgh Pirates! The whole neighborhood was doin the same!! great days.
Day before Opening Day 2021 and I just had to hear this song!!
I hear almost every time I go to Walgreens
@@barrybonds9558 they usually go to CVS. Now I'm going to Walgreens.👍
This is the right way to welcome the new season!
Well, anyone could understand the way you feel.
Son played centerfield, song meant a lot love it!!!
John Fogerty is the best song writer of all time. His music always brings a smile to my face. I'm 25 and I'll play CCR at work and all the old guys jam out.
CCR is truly something special.
I think John Fogerty and CCR capture the voice of America better than anyone else
It's opening day (March 28, 2024), I'm ready for my team (NY Yankees) to win the World Series!
Let’s do it!
@@yankees29LET'S GO!

Im 37 a lifelong chicago white sox fan...when they won the world series in 2005 after 88 years ...this song comes to mind
John got his wish he did this song in centerfield of Dodger stadium with this kids he turned 75 today
What a fine American!
I saw him do it at the Oakland -Alameda Coliseum from Center Stage with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir backing him. It was also one of the first shows where he could play his CCR stuff after winning his lawsuit.

When I was a kid, my mom would put the classic rock station on the car radio. We would call this song the “happy song.”
Whos listening in 2024

I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baseball's the only sport I follow.
Not just baseball folks... a metaphor for life...c'mon suit up
I have been looking for this song for about 15 years, based on one memory I had from one baseball game when I was a kid where they played this over the loudspeakers. I didn't even know who John Fogerty was back then, I just knew it was a damn good song. And now I finally found it.
If you don't love John Fogerty, you don't love America. If you don't love America, y'all got to sundown to git yer asses out of here. Thank you kindly, God bless America.
Ya said the perfect words, yeah!!!!7-18-19
If your coach didn’t have this on the pre game playlist, my condolences
WELL, I am 81 and have loved baseball since I was in 5th grade! Always a Brooklyn Dodgers fan until they moved West and I got married here in the East and now I have become a Phillies fan - GO PHILLIES!! LOVE LISTENING TO JOHN SING CENTERFIELD!! Thank you Mr. Fogerty! :)
@ S R - GREAT SONG . . see you at Citizens' Bank Park sometime !
I replied to John Fogerty's question but something happened to stop it all..................??
@John Fogerty OH WOW!!! Is this really John Fogerty!!?? I enjoy all your songs!! Thank you!! :)
@John Fogerty Sure was! :)
@John Fogerty Hi! Phillies are going to the World Series!!!!! I am thrilled!!!! Just played 'Centerfield' again!! :) :) :)
Helo
My kid is watching a cartoon and one of the characters just said "Hey, put me in coach!" Now I gotta hear the song!
Legendary!
Hard not to smile when you here this song
It has the kind of vibrance that makes you glad to be alive
This song just randomly popped in my head so I had to come find it

Man my 4th grade teacher played this every morning and to this day he taught me the most of any teacher
The power and majesty of a home run...
The quick, Helvetian precision of a triple play...
The daring thrill of a stolen base...
The crisp crack of the bat...
The verdant grass of the outfield...
Forget soccer. THIS is the Beautiful Game. :)
Soccer is the most boring game in the world (after golf and curling). The midfield play is so dull.
This song is awesome live. A big thanks to my father for getting hooked on John Fogerty. R.I.P. DAD!!!!
Oh am sorry for your lost...I promise to be there for you... pelhambx💓
Just shared this with my 11 year old daughter, who has her first softball game today playing center field ❤️ Love this song.
How sweet.
I love how the video shows amazing outfield catches! Hope she's inspired :)
Song always gets me in the mood for the start of the baseball season!
Keeping this one going for another generation! I heard this as a kid when I played ball. Now doing the same for my daughter who's playing ball. Love you girl keep it up!
When baseball truly was America's passtime
My son has CP and just started playing his first special league baseball season. They play this every game and it gets me every time. It's impossible to have a bad day and hear this for me.
I maintain that this is the greatest Love Song ever written. Covers a multitude of the things we love. Sunshine, new grass, playing games, a chance to shine, the support of our fans. Et. Al.
But, the plethora of baseball terms that put a positive and lighthearted spin when applied to romantic Love, is a good, less awkward shorthand.
My dad would always play this otw to my games. Miss him and baseball. Love this song!

For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
When this album was released I listened to it non-stop for weeks. Love and respect.
The footage and this song just makes me smile! Used to be a catcher for 7 years before i blew my knees out! Im a pro musician now but i still love the game and John Fogerty rocks!
He sure nails it!
My last high school baseball game was today, I will miss it dearly❤️⚾️
Love this song.
I coach little League softball and introduced this to my girls during practice. These small 7-9yr old girls sing along and now call this their hype song. I remember doing the same thing when I was playing ball. *Go Pink Sox*
Love this!!!!!!!!!!
My 12 year old made the Allstar team and he picked this song at 2:45 for his walk up song, he actually smashed a home run last game right after the song played.
I sang the opening line ironically today as it was 4 C (39 F) outside and raining, in the middle of May
As John was boarding a plane, the flight attendant showed him where his seat was in first class. John yelled: "Put me in coach..."
The crack of the bat always gets me when I hear this song!
Sounds like he got it all..⚾😁🖖
The live performances of the song just aren't as good without that loud home-run crack of the bat
John Fogerty's enduring song "Centerfield" yoked himself to the iconic phase "as American as baseball, hot dogs and apple pie." Genius!

Dad worked for GM until he retired and is a huge baseball fan. Watched the Cincinnati vs. Boston 1975 world series with him! Until about the 5th inning when my bedtime came.
I drive a Chevy now!
Every bit as classic as "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". It evokes all the joys of the great American pastime. And that video, wow! Bravo to John for another work of genius.
Actually, this is more classic than that.
I think this song should be the national Anthem
Anyone who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s that didn’t listen to this is seriously lost
I watched and listen to songs of those practically everyday. Even if i wasnt i grew up the right way
@Benjamin Byrd Tyx I’m 15, great song
1:08 One of the rare times DiMaggio showed emotion on the diamond.
When we take the Field he plays it and we win ❤️⚾️❤️
I am a big baseball fan. I played myself when I was young.
I play this song all throughout March every year because it gets me hyped for the upcoming baseball season!
My Mom and I keep track of how many weeks until “Pitchers and Catchers” report to Spring Training!
The Video features two of the Top 10 famous home runs in History: Bobby Thomson 1951, The Giants win the PENNANT! and 1960 World Series Game 7, Bill Mazeroski Pirates.
