The producers of this video have not got a clue. I am English but have lived in Wales for over 30 years. The pronunciation is a total joke. I wonder whether they actually left their desks in rural England before making this. Not reliable content -in my view!
Thou want someone who cann pronounce the places you are speaking about who ever is doing this needs to do this or get another English person who has lived in Wales for 40yrs to do the learning canteen for you
I have only watched the section on Usk, then given up. At best, they have skimmed through Wikipedia. To claim japanware is a major industry in the town is laughable. It was in the 1840s, but had died out by the 1860 or so.
What an interesting video! It's content is enlightenning, but the pronunciation is truly awefull! A quickn research on google would have cured this. For examples, if I made a video and called English cities Loondan, Moncheeter, Loovapil, you would roll your eyes! Blaenavon is close enough but it's in 'tor-vine' not 'Torfen'', 'Llan-roost' not 'Llan-ust', it's 'Ri-thin' not 'Roo-thin', 'Larn' not 'La-harn', 'Ker-e-dig-eeon' not 'Ser-e-dij-eeon', Llangollen has the sound of the double L mispronounced, its given by blowing air past the tongue when making the L shape with your tongue, which makes more of a difference when you hear it pronounced correctly, and there is a lot more that I will leave. I 10/10 for the comedy pronunciations, though!
I watched this, and it's amazing how many are next to the sea, but don't think to buy another house down there before you move, otherwise you might get smashed for taxes. So, nice places to retire but not great places if you fancy a well paid job.
Car got stolen in Aberbargoed on the way I expect. Then got mugged in Rhumney probably. Check the hospital in Merthyr or Ystrad. Been four months so the ambulance must have arrived by now.
Whoever is commenting on these videos should be utterly ashamed at the pronunciation of these Welsh placenames, but they can probably speak French or Italian etc.
@@JamesSmith-qs4hx I have NO idea what he must mean, I'm American but 1/2 Welsh and I have been to Wales many times, I honestly can not remember ONE unpleasant experience the people are lovely for the most part.
It's funny that a channel called learning canteen can't be bothered to look up the correct pronunciation of these town names.
The pronouncing of Welsh place names is SO bad that you should be ashamed. It would take very little effort to correct this!
Again pronunciation is dreadful, he's only doing 12 towns ffs!

Narberth and Conwy would be in most people’s top ten for sure
Do your research.
Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, Lianelli, Haverfordwest. (West Wales) Which one is the best place?
Aber definately
A matter of personal preference. All have good and bad qualities.
Abergavenny is famous for having a song written about it.

As everyone else said he can say the names correctly, and looks like he has plucked town names out of thin air.
😊
Instant turnoff with the mis-pronounciation.
Spot on.

Beautiful scenery!! Nasty people 😵

Welsh people are like other people anywhere. Good, bad and indifferent.
Yeah there's lots of English here. You probably met some of them.
Only nasty to the jolly old English and their colonial ways what what what. Cymru am byth!!!
