If you haven't heard of Cynic before I definitely recommend everyone to go and listen to their album Focus. They were one of if not the first band to fully incorporate jazz fusion into metal. It came out 30 years ago and still sounds really futuristic and the musicianship couldn't be any higher. Always has and will be in my top 5 albums of all time!
Thanks Paul for everything 👽
Focus is cool and all but Traced in Air is the 🐐
@@BLCKCSTLSI'm kinda the other way round but TIA is awesome too .
Yeah along with Atheist.. which in my humble opinion are the best that fused jazz and metal.. a whole landmark for the genre
Focus is an all time classic.
Fan since FOCUS back then...and HUMAN !
"Pregnant by an Anunnaki in a holographic field" There's something about this sentence that always cracked me up lol. It's Genius
Holy shit, same here! I cant stop singing that bit
This guy ages like a fine wine
I swear he's actually looking more handsome with the grey hairs lol and he kinda looked like Keanu Reeves when he's younger too 😆
Saw Paul play this year from a front row, and he makes everything look so effortless.
I get what you mean I saw him live too he makes it look so easy but then the songs are so difficult to play! Nonetheless sing at the same time!!
Paul Masvidal is so inspirational. I love Cynic’s music. 🤟🏼👽
Paul is God
We love you Paul!Much respect!
Thanks! is always a pleasure to see the master at work
I first tried to figure this song out by ear, but now I have something to practice to
Its 2023 and Paul is still experimenting.
Talk about a limitless bloke!
gives me circa survive vibes, love it. big fan of the focus era too.
I feel like one of the most impressive things is how his playing is so restrained here, you just know he could shred a thousand times harder than he does here, but the song doesn't call for it, so it's just tasteful all around
Your phrasing is amazing!
I don't know if this question will expose me as an idiot or not, but are those silver balls between the fingers on his picking hand just jewelry, or is it some kind of device to help with picking? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Jewelry
@@ludwigvanpeterson Thanks!
My bows to you Paul❤
I immediately disliked this until I stopped looking and started listening. Now I love it.
Its always like that with Paul every element sound so dissociated at first and it all come toghether after you sleep on it.
Very nice
The guitar it seems odd (to me). It looks like a fan fret guitar, the bridge is it should be, but the pickup position is straight; it should not be inclined to the left a little bit?
It is fanned fret, just not multiscale. The scale length is an even 25.5. The fan is supposed to help play in classical position more comfortably. Ibanez has the same fret design on some of their Quest models.
All Strandberg guitars are multiscale.
@@itsybitsyzombie how did you come up with that? It is multiscale.
🙄
