My Favourite thing about Roger is that he knows that is going to die in 1 year. Rather than trying to find a thing by which he can survive ex: op op fruit or something. he chooses to complete his dream to find a one piece rather than being sad that he has only one year left to live his life he was happy that he have one complete year to find one piece and that's what makes him one of the most well written character.
My favorite thing about Roger is that he doesn't give off "king" vibes. He's just a man living life to the fullest. Enjoying every moment with his crew. He does not look down on others as Kaido and Big Mom do.
It's interesting how strong and crazy he's always been and perceived and the you see him running with glee to fight white beard and while none of the power is diminished he's super strong its such a different personality than what the world thinks of him
My favourite thing about Roger is how much he respected life. He went with his gut (first meeting with Rayleigh), he was kind to enemies who were not evil (as told to Ace and Luffy when helping a lost pirate find his way out to sea) and how he faced his death (knocking the entire world population out of their shell to dream of treasure, in essence helping them to live, not just exist and accept how things are.)
My favorite thing about Roger is his judgment of character. He surrounded himself with a crew he could depend on, and not based on their abilities. The best example for me though is his relationship with Garp, and how he trusted the safety and life of his only son to the man who was sworn to serve his enemies. Because he knew Garp's heart and that he was a good man, a worthy adversary and therefore deserving of his respect and trust.
My favourite thing about Roger is the fact that his indomitable presence draws everybody around him to follow him and support him in his dreams. Especially with the reveal of his relationship with Whitebeard, Oden, Shanks etc. it’s undeniable that he was a man who was going to achieve greatness and everybody in the one piece world saw that.
When roger met Rayleigh he said "do you want to turn the world upside down with me?" for me, this is the closest thing we know to their true dream. Also, Oda loves his inversions you can see them everywhere so it fits very well
My favorite thing about roger is how fearless he was. He turned himself in to the marines and even when he was faced with death by execution, he smiled all the way to the end.
What if it's something like, "I want to be friends with everyone." That's the kind of thing I can see Ace shocked about and Sabo laughing towards it. It makes sense in the purest form and it would make sense on why being the king of the pirates is an important role to achieve such a dream. I honestly think that Luffy isn't that selfish, I believe he wants to bring everyone laughter, smiles and joy to the world and by being everyone's friend and being the strongest pirate in the world would give that kind of power to do just that.
My favorite thing about Roger is that he was willing to give himself up to the navy in order to inspire the world to find his treasure, therefore inspiring Luffy himself to go on his journey.
I loved how Roger was such a big mystery early on in the series and then he plays this big part later on in Wano where many more characters connect to him and more story is revealed
Why I dont think it's 'eating anywhere for free': 1 - why would Oden be so impressed at this and write with such emphasis? 2 - as pointed out in the comments, Ace would let people laugh, and not take this seriously. My theory: it's to make the whole world happy/ smile. 1 - it's pure, simple for a child to imagine. 2 - It's quite shocking, and could make Yamato cry cuz it's a beautiful dream. 3 - it fits with Luffy's role as Joyboy, and wherever he goes he makes people smile, and their lives brighter and happier. Any arc where he saves a country, people get freed from tirany/dispair/slavement or something, and are in a feast mood.
I love Roger's general character design. The old one looked dull but this one actually makes him look like a rich pirate living his life to the fullest.
My favourite thing about roger is his unbending mindset, how he let nothing stand in his way and just did as he liked. Specifically when he randomly rolled up to Rayleigh and asked him if he wanted to turn the world upside down. A spontaneous meeting that began the greatest story ever told.
Theory: Luffy and Roger said “ I will be the man who frees everyone.” Or something like that Reason 1: The world of one piece is always shown to be a place of injustice, racism, enslavement, human trafficking, and indentured servitude run rampant. Reason 2: Luffy would have been aware of this as a child since his best friend Sabo’s one wish was to be free and their home island was awash with all of these issues Reason 3: Luffy has spent literally every arc of his journey rescuing people from enslavement, and terrorism Reason 4: Gol D Roger laughed and cried when he got to the end of the world because while he was one of the D. Family and the inheritor of Joy Boy’s will he did not possess the Devil Fruit needed to become the great liberator, he cried because he couldn’t complete his goal, but laughed because he knew then that someone could and would proving that his goal was not crazy and was attainable. Reason 5: Shanks carried on Rogers will and waited for the opportunity to steal the needed devil fruit, then hand delivered it to Luffy “by accident” Reason 6: Despite Luffy’s selfishness in some ways, in truth whenever it really counts Luffy sacrifices his own safety to liberate anyone who needs it. Reason 7: it fits the reactions of all characters: Yamato “who is desperate for freedom and justice” would naturally cry at the concept. Sabo would see Luffy as being unrealistic and just being a kid and would laugh. Ace would be annoyed by Luffy’s ignorance as a child but as an adult seeing Luffy grow would start to believe it is possible, a specially since he spent time with Whitebeard who was privy to the reality of the possibility. Whitebeard would have laughed at Roger for the same reason as Sabo, and Oden would have been shocked but also moved by the gesture. Reason 8: All of the Characters in One Piece live in that universe and the concepts of the unjust and terrible reality of the world would be very “real” to them. From their perspective the world has always been this way, so Luffy and Rogers dream would seem both impossible, but would also be what they all secretly wanted. Reason 9: The void century is always viewed like some terrible disasters went down, but when you think about it that doesn’t check out. The great wars happened before the void century and were well known. What if the void century was actually an era of great peace and justice? An era after the great liberator (Joy Boy) liberated the world, if that was true the world government would definitely not want modern people to know, since then everyone would be aware of how the world should be and it would turn all people against the leaders.
My favorite thing about Roger is the myth vs reality. His reputation as king of pirates is known all around the world and revered as this legendary person. In reality he's really goofy and relatable. He is super approachable and seems to befriend any and all walks of life.
There is one big hole in the "I'll be able to eat for free where ever I go!" dream. It's Aces words after he accidently spilled the information to Yamato, why would he say so seriously, "Nobody else can laugh! We believe in him! I really think he can make it happen!" if Luffy's dream was just to eat for free everywhere he goes lol, you would think he would let anyone laugh at such a silly joke plus I don't think just the fact Roger said it as well is enough to make Yamato cry or to stun Oden to the extent that it did. But I think their reactions are completely valid if the dream was to be able to *party with everyone in the world.* It's childlike enough for 7 year old Luffy but not too childish for 50 year old Roger, I also think it's possible that Roger DIDN'T get to complete his goal, because of what he learned at Laugh Tale and the realization that the World Government directly opposes the people of the world coming together that or his ending journey where he went around partying was what he considered his dream. The very first thing we see Luffy doing is watching the Red Haired Pirates partying, and its the only thing he seems to care about as much as meat, he always is concerned about the party at the end. So until Oda himself puts the answer in the story, this theory is my headcanon it makes the most sense out of anything I have heard or seen.
Also he said that music is one of the most important things in a pirate crew. Which is also the most important thing to a party. I think in the end he just wants to have fun with everyone and partying is the most fun he can have.
After the most recent chapter I don’t think it’s this. Some of the crew, specifically Usopp seemed intimidated by the scale of Luffy’s dream so it has to be something dangerous.
People also are forgetting that this has to be shared by Roger -- having it relate to food wouldn't make much sense because there hasn't been anything up to this point that has indicated that Roger was a glutton.
@@darbs1832 I think as of now luffys dream is just to create a world where his friends can eat as much as they want and he practically states that it's his ambition when kaido questions him.
@@IAMINSIDEYOURWALLS604But why would Luffy's crew react the way they reacted, if Luffy said that statement?? It's more simple, yet crazier than that. Luffy probably said something wild like, "I want everyone in the world to be Pirates." But his definition of piracy isn't about pillaging, wealth, power, fortune, and filthy lucre... his version of piracy is TRUE FREEDOM, which fits Luffy's entire character as Joyboy. He wants the world to be free, and how is that going to happen? Well first he will become the Pirate King, and then he will... 😉
My favorite thing about Roger is how he can be so fearsome that his mere name puts fear into people yet he's so fun seeking and even goofy. He's like a duality to an extreme measure.
Luffy is like that too. It's always funny how many people are scared when they see him in the newspaper when he basically just saved someone he cared about. All because of the World Government spinning the strory for their own benefit.
I think it was just revealed to us in 1049. With that being “A world where everyone eats.” It explains Yamatos reaction perfectly and is very plausible for Luffy.
My favourite thing about roger is that he was a pioneer, he started the whole find the island business. Unlike luffy following in his footsteps, roger just went for it
My favorite thing about Roger is his fighting style. He seems to be a swordsman without much regard for real swordsmanship but is a monster in spite of that. He carries a single saber which is able to clash with the murakumogiri and he even goes far enough to name his only son after the blade. Even the naming of his technique is simply fitting for the man named the king of the pirates. Divine Departure speaks for itself. As does Roger on the battlefield.
I feel like he's the Jackie Chan of One Piece. Uses whatever he has around him as a weapon and the only reason he carries a sword is to have the pirate look, heck he's one of the only characters in One Piece who looks like a traditional pirate
@@KaladinD I can see that. I could imagine that he is proficient using any object in battle simply because he’s a very spontaneous and imaginative guy. He would’ve went after “that samurai” Oden with a broomstick if that was all that he had on his person and honestly I love it.
The final theory of "I want to be able to eat free wherever I go" makes TOO much sense for Luffy. He is always shown to be especially grateful to people who feed him/others for free when he is/they are hungry: *Sanji feeds a starving Gin after he's kicked out for being broke, Luffy avidly wants Sanji as his cook *Luffy is livid with Zoro for beating up all the Bounty Hunters in Whiskey Peak who fed them *Luffy is grateful to Koza's father in Alabasta, who worked hard just to get Luffy some water from the Oasis *Luffy forgives Hatchan for his past misdeeds just for some Takoyaki *Rebecca feeds Luffy with her last bit of money, Luffy immediately forgives her for trying to kill him *Otama feeds Luffy her only rice bowl. This leads to Luffy exposing himself just to beat the crap out of guys wasting Oshiruko at Kaido's party. All just because of how much Otama loved Oshiruko I mean, for a long while during Wano it seemed like his drive to free the country was just as much doing it for the Red Scabbards as it was for allowing "everyone to eat as much as they want" as Luffy stated himself
Because 1. It's the words of the pirate King, and she realizes Luffy truly is a worthy successor to him 2. She has likely been desperate for food at points in her life, and the series has shown numerous times that starvation is a very real and horrendous reality some characters face 3. It's a pure and harmless goal. Despite the ridiculousness of it, it makes too much sense and is ultimately something only someone as pure and foolish as Luffy or Roger would strive for
My favorite thing about Roger is his personality. It is so similar to Luffy's that he becomes instantly likeable, and the fact that he didn't even care about his title of Pirate King speaks volumes about what kind of person he was.
My favorite thing about roger is discovering more and more that he's just a goof and just vibed his way into infamy. Also learning that he isn't actually made of gold. Very nice twist.
My favorite thing about Roger is that he is still something else, an unknown, maybe not as much as he used to be but I feel there are definitely world shaking secrets about Roger that I am just waiting to hear.
My favourite thing about Roger would be his ability to leave an impression on people. He asked Rayleigh to join him without even knowing who he was, fastforwad to 20-25 years Rayleigh still remembers all the details about him. not only him, its applies to everyone he has met, Oden was awestruck as soon as he saw Roger, Whitebeard respected him, Big Mom is still mad on him for stealing her poneglyph's print. Even Garp admits that despite his reputation he always respected him. And ofc, the whole world still remembers him as the Pirate King! Man that's something. He definetely was a great man!
My favorite thing about Roger is his lore. Just because of the fact that the early history of the pirate era started around with him. You never hear about tails of the Will of D before Rogers time. It's kind of like there's more to be unraveled.
My favorite thing about Roger is that he was such a care free person, always smiling, always trying to live like it was his last day here. Dude really made his life worth the while.
My favorite thing about Roger is his simple design, to me, resembling a true pirate. It contrasts all the outlandish, yet fun and welcome designs of the other characters
True, aside from Shanks, he’s definitely the most classical pirate looking character, and oh yeah Blackbeard, since he’s literally just Blackbeard from the real life stories, just made even worse, plus he’s the stereotypical pirate that’s fat, has really bad teeth, and has zero manners.
My favorite thing about Roger is the lesson you can learn from his role in the outcome of the story. Even though he stated he and his crew came too "early" to reaching Laugh Tale and he ultimately is not the person everyone is waiting for, he managed to enjoy his life the most with the time he was given.
Watching this after reading chapter 1060, I thought for a moment the time stamp would be wrong... How could a title so dedicated to the newest chapter be made up 8 months prior?
My favorite thing about Roger is the history he has with Garp. I love the love/hate relationship they are always shown having. It cheers me up knowing that they were on both sides of the Government and still able to be friends. Hoping to see more of that in the future.
Favorite thing about Roger is how he seemingly has no inspirational figure (he probably does, and we’ll find out in later chapters), but still followed his dreams and pushed to find laughtale
Its joyboy, or some other strawhat wearer, in a one piece opening the transfer of the strawhat going from joyboy to roger (there was probably some others in between cause of timeline gap) to shanks to luffy
I think "I want to live forever" is a good answer, Sun wukong who Luffy is based off of went on a journey to search for immortality in mythology. And that could achieve many different reactions from children and old men alike. Think about it, in mythology Sun wukong started his first journey from the island he was born in a raft like Luffy in his barrel, his primary goal at this time was immortality. This is also written as him stating he wants to "become a god and hangout with the other gods and goddesses, to become a god he fights the 10 judges of the dead and erases his name from life and death(Blackbeard anyone?). I'm paraphrasing but something like that. So there's more evidence to even backup "I want to party with everyone".
@@stonemaddness you can live forever without actually being immortal. its about legacy and what you leave behind. its implied Roger even told Rayleigh that he wouldn't be dying right before he turned himself in. I think if its "I want to live forever" its not meant in a way of achieving and immortal life but instead an immortal legacy- but the phrasing would achieve that range of emotions in reaction to the statement.
Honestly, I can't see this not happing now. Luffy's dream of having a massive party with all the races in the world, like you said makes so much sense. I can't wait for the confirmation and will make the ending of the series all the more satisfying.
My favorite thing about Roger is his endless energy, drive, and force. He's like Luffy but with all the experience of his journey and the power to achieve it. He's confident and brash but has the power to back up his words, I respect that.
It’s something that made usopp ask luffy again and said it’s impossible. It’s something that made sanji think there’s something wrong in luffy’s head. It’s something that made chopper burst in tears and awe. It’s something that made jimbe, franky, and brook laugh out loud. It’s something that made zoro and robin speechless. And it’s something that made nami think that his dream is so luffy. And one of the most crucial context, it’s something that will be achieved or done “AT THE END OF LUFFY’s DREAM”. This context also said by Ace to Yamato as stated too in this video. So with that, i dont think make a feast of the world is luffy’s dream. I dont think everyone can eat and fill their belly is luffy’s dream. As both of them will surely makes sanji respect the dream instead of saying something wrong in luffy’s head. Throw a party is reasonable as party usually be held “AT THE END” of something. But it lacks the explanation of why it was so laughable, especially by jimbe. So it’s something about party, but not just a regular party. I think luffy, while also stating his dream, he also explain his reasoning. So we should also think the simplest reason aside from just thinking about his dream only.
I think my favorite thing about Roger is how for about the whole pre skip we knew nothing about him and the little we did know painted as a rather dark or malicious character. And when we finally got more screen time we found out that he's just as Goofy as our favorite captain and even could fit in as an MC (I'd love a Roger spinoff). It raises the question of what other dark seeming characters are actually just hams?
The fact, that right before his execution, he smiled to Garp begging him to take care of Ace, because Roger sees the trust in him and Garps relationship.
My favourite thing about Roger is that despite being confronted with a sickness, he still traveled through the world and used his own death to inspire others.
My favourite thing about Roger is how we got our perception of the legend grow along side the series. First there is this whole myrth style around him, the music, then the stories Rayleigh and everyone began telling, till now the flashbacks where now they show us a mortal man, strong but a dork guy anyone would love to go for drinks with.
What I like the most about Roger, is that he seems invincible. We've never seen him in any situation where he was the weak one and he just overall feel overpowered. I wonder if he was always that strong or which ennemy did he have to conquer to become the unstoppable force he became.
That’s true but especially when he was younger, he must’ve been in a lot of Luffy-like situations (notably pre timeskip Luffy). Don’t get me wrong, Luffy was always fairly strong, his strength being exaggerated at times with plot armor too. However, he was still overpowered by Admirals, Yonkos, etc at different points of the story. Roger must’ve had some moments of that in his piracy in which he was helpless in front of a greater power, especially when he wasn’t as strong as he was in his prime.
i think Luffy’s dream is “I want to be able to make everyone live and eat freely”, which does coincide with Luffy wants to be free and how he always save people/country free from tyranny in every arc. plus, Roger somehow managed to achieve this dream because his death creates the Great Age of Piracy, which results in tons of pirate went crazy and do whatever they want. then, yamato’s reaction would make so much sense. but I’m not sure why Ace reacted annoyed(?) or why he said don’t laugh at Luffy’s dream.
I agree that Ace's reaction doesn't make sense with the idea that Luffy's dream is just to eat meat for free. But I also don't think it makes sense for a 7 year old Luffy who is selfish af, to put it bluntly, to suddenly say, "He wants to be able to make everyone live and eat freely." Luffy only cares about one thing as much as eating meat and we get a scene from the very first chapter that shows why he is so infatuated with it, and that's with partying. He constantly saw Shanks and crew partying when they would visit, so to Luffy being a Pirate and Partying are one and the same, so what is the Pirate King version of Partying? Being able to party with the entire world. It would make sense why Yamato would cry because it's a childlike version of bringing the world together, also it makes sense why Ace would say "I really think he can make it happen." compared to the eating meat for free theory, idk the party theory makes too much sense and doesn't have anything single thing that makes me not buy into it, unlike your theory for me or Liam's meat one lol.
You know watching this 4 months after you came out with it and figuring out in the latest chapter 1049 what luffy said what kinda world he wants to make. It’s crazy !!!
My favourite thing about Roger is his status, the duality that comes when you mention his name, with one part of the population being afraid of him and his legacy and another part of the population looking up to him as an icon. And his flashback makes it seem that he was a pretty cool and adventurous guy who just wanted freedom and to answer questions about the history of the world.
My favorite thing about roger is his personality it’s sooo great. He doesn’t care whatever people say about him or insult him, however when someone insults his crew than he destroys them. Also his smile is just powerful I always goosebumps when I see his smile
My favourite thing about Roger is how much he adds to the story and how he is integrated into it. There are very few stories in which the OP is completing a path thats already been completed. Rogers involvement in One Piece is so flawless and smooth that I cant wait to know more about him.
I love how he was a man that was selfless outside of comedic ventures. A man that would stay behind to make sure his crew got away but also a man that would make an excuse to fight someone strong
My favourite thing about Roger is his search for crewmembers named Silvers and Scopper and that he appoints them to his first and second commander. And then pretending like: 'ohh? They call me Gold Roger instead of Gol D. Roger? I never thought about that before!' We all know you thought about that before, Roger! We all know! Merry Christmas to all grandfleet members🎄⛄
My favourite thing about Roger is the mystery surrounding him. He's such a key figure yet we know is little about him is interesting and I want to know more. I really hope that when One Piece ends there will be a prequel where we see Roger's journey.
My favorite thing about Roger is the fact that he was this overwhelming force without an army. He only had Oro Jackson, no fleet necessary. Even Luffy will have the Straw hat fleet at the end.
My favorite thing about Roger is that he smiled at his execution. That smild impacted so many people, and when everyone sees Luffy doing the same it sends shockwaves to many people (like one of my personal favorites, crest-head).
Honestly Roger has had a huge impact on actual pirate mythology for me. When I see the Jolly Roger, I think of Roger smiling and laughing at death and choosing a life of freedom over oppression.
I think my favorite thing about Roger is the discrepancy between his legacy and his personality. the way the world sees him as a demon, compared to how his crew respects and adores him is really cool. Perfect person to blaze the trail that Luffy is currently on. I didn't think Roger's personality would be so magnetic and I can't wait to see more of his journey
Truly my favorite thing about Rodger is literally just his costume/personality upgrade between the his beheading at Logue Town and his appearance in the Oden flashback. He went from being the guy that just seemed like a vague pirate stereotype into a figure that could actually live up to the status of Pirate King.
My favorite thing about Roger is probably how he's so goofy and carefree, but his personality hides his wild strength. Oda writes a lot of characters like that, and one of the things I'm looking forward to the most is how he amps it up with Roger
Personally I think it's "I want to be everybody's friend" And "I will be everybody's friend." Friendship and companions are fundamental cores of both Luffy and Rodgers being. They live for freedom but they also live for their friends. It's simple enough for a child to think, and the influence of being pirate king let's him reach more people than ever before. Even in fights, Rodgers enemies laughed with him after.
I love roger, he comes off as a simple character (by one-piece standards). He has no devil-fruit, one of the more sterio-typical pirate designs and his primary colour choice is red (hopefully he appears in the upcoming movie) and yet blows us all away with the revalations of just minor answers about his character. All we know about him is this insane legacy shrouded in mystery and I think that is why I like him
My favorite thing about Roger is that he isn’t just an older Luffy. Oda could have easily been like, “Only people like this can be the pirate king,” but instead he made Roger his own unique character and that is a huge relief.
My favorite thing about Roger is his personality and how much everyone looks up to him. There was always a sense of mystery behind Roger that pushed the whole story forward!
My favorite thing about Roger is even though he was dying he always seemed so hopeful and positive. I also get a kick out of every time I remember his mustache was originally supposed to be just really long nose hairs.
I think his true ambition is to make friends with the marines, ace went like huh because he could never imagine that same as oden, sabo and whitebeard laughed because of the mere childness and foolishness of that dream but yamato cried cause it would change the world for the better, luffy prolly got this dream by knowing about how his grandfather is a marine and hes so nice to him he wants to be the same as his grandfather while also being a pirate
I don't think so(?) Because the marines killed his brothers and also they are their enemy, I don't think it would be something like that but Idk Luffy is pretty much unoredictable to me
@@dianahi2663 that doesn’t stop him from befriending Coby. I don’t even watch op and I can tell luffy is someone who judges first based on actions. And doesn’t hold extreme resentment towards all marines.
My favorite thing about Roger is his unshakable determination and the look in his eyes, that look of someone that can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. He is absolutely fierce.
I think the coolest thing about Roger is that he faced most things with a smile, he was one jolly boy. But since he’s so sweet, we could say he’s a Jolly Roger
My favourite thing about roger is how mysterious his true power is. There’s only few examples of his raw power, but these can’t be compared to what we know and I can’t wait to truly see what a pirate king can do.
My favorite thing about Roger is the grand influence he has on the series despite him dying twenty-four years ago. He’s the man that sparked the undying drive people have towards obtaining the One Piece and it truly makes him a special character.
Ok so I'll just have to say this at this point. I've seen so many theories and here's my take. Luffy isn't going all out for free food, freedom or whatever. What seems weird to children but also suits Luffys personality in modern day? His Nakama. It's all about saving his friends and making friends, growing his crew and gathering more friends he can fight along and have a good time with. He goes out of his way to save cities from tyrants, gods and whatnot all so in the end people will all call him their friend. So I'll go all out and say that Luffys true goal is to befriend everyone. White beard even said it back in the war arc that he has the most terrifying power there is, he befriends everyone he comes in contact with. To go even further with this theory... Katakuri. He went out of his way to fight for what's right, he never fought to kill/defeat Katakuri, he however broke him free of his problems and Katakuri started admiring him for it. There's more examples of it if you're looking for it, but I'm not gonna give it all away and give you UA-cam content for free. 😉
he doesnt want to befriend everyone. luffy cares about his nakama and he has enough purity to know what's good and bad, whats horrible and whats wholesome. but he doesnt really care that much about befriending people. the partying theory makes a LOT more sense because when you"re partying with people they dont necesarily need to be your friend but you just have fun with them. FUN is what luffy is all about. so he just want to have fun with everyone. not exactly "befriending" them. he isnt naruto, naruto fits that category perfectly. or maybe natsu. but luffy only trully deeply cares for his crew even if he"s willing to sacrifice himself to right the wrongs in the place that he goes to.
Luffy loves two things. 1. Food 2. His friends Therefore Luffy's dream is "I want to be the man who creates a world where everyone can eat as much as they like.
my favourite thing about roger is his character; the way he acts and carries himself. hes silly and carefree but can get down to business when he needs to, much like luffy. also his updated wano design is imo one of the best in the series! merry christmas everyone
Honestly i would say my favorite thing about roger is his positivity and big smile in surprisingly tough times, that man was sick and dying but still traversed the seas and conquered the world with a big wide Roger smile on his face, and he told his partner he wasn’t gonna truly die and even when dying his last words started the long loved story we all enjoy 😅 and he went off with a smile but still lives as the Dreams of most Pirates on the sea😃
My favorite thing about Roger is his persunality. We found a little about him in the Oden flashback but I found him so cool and funny sometimes even serious when he needs to.
Favorite thing about Roger is that he could've been like Rocks and pursued something ambitious like being the king of the world but didn't care about it. Might be a typical good guy trope but it works for Roger
My favourite thing about Roger is his rivalry with Shirojige, its like they were competing to see who would be ultimate the best pirate and at the same tima they were really good friends, even Shirojige allowed Oden to go with Roger in order to reach Laughtale
This was fun. My only issue is that Luffy and Roger both said, "I want to be..." So it has to do with being something, not necessarily doing. I cant imagine him saying I want to be the greatest partier or be someone who never pays for food. Plus, I believe it was linked to his experience with shanks as a kid because that's when his dream solidified. It obviously wasnt something he thought he could do by being in the navy. Its something crazy, moving, inspiring, and surprising. Yet they believe in him.
My favorite thing about Roger is his response to knowing his death was imminent. His bravery and willingness to live in the moment and enjoy the adventure is so inspiring.
My favourite thing about Roger is the mystery around his journey, crew and life. I can't wait to discover all of this as the story continues

*cough cough cough*
Looking at you, Rocks.
My favourite thing about Roger is the fact that his indomitable presence draws everybody around him to follow him and support him in his dreams. Especially with the reveal of his relationship with Whitebeard, Oden, Shanks etc. it’s undeniable that he was a man who was going to achieve greatness and everybody in the one piece world saw that.
the will of D
When roger met Rayleigh he said "do you want to turn the world upside down with me?" for me, this is the closest thing we know to their true dream. Also, Oda loves his inversions you can see them everywhere so it fits very well
My favorite thing about roger is how fearless he was. He turned himself in to the marines and even when he was faced with death by execution, he smiled all the way to the end.
Well he was gonna die anyways but yeah
It's all because he got chronic illness that can't be cured easily at his era.
That may include making friends with imu
@@stavkous4963 Sounds like I reached to be honest.
“I want to be - everybody’s brother” ive been thinking its this for a little while, but maybe too similar to whitebeard
I loved how Roger had the determination to do what had never been done without an example or a title to claim. It was pure adventure
Why I dont think it's 'eating anywhere for free':
1 - why would Oden be so impressed at this and write with such emphasis?
2 - as pointed out in the comments, Ace would let people laugh, and not take this seriously.
My theory: it's to make the whole world happy/ smile.
1 - it's pure, simple for a child to imagine.
2 - It's quite shocking, and could make Yamato cry cuz it's a beautiful dream.
3 - it fits with Luffy's role as Joyboy, and wherever he goes he makes people smile, and their lives brighter and happier. Any arc where he saves a country, people get freed from tirany/dispair/slavement or something, and are in a feast mood.

Hello
Christmas Eve for me but I'll take it

Thanks! You too man:))

Theory: Luffy and Roger said “ I will be the man who frees everyone.” Or something like that
Reason 1: The world of one piece is always shown to be a place of injustice, racism, enslavement, human trafficking, and indentured servitude run rampant.
Reason 2: Luffy would have been aware of this as a child since his best friend Sabo’s one wish was to be free and their home island was awash with all of these issues
Reason 3: Luffy has spent literally every arc of his journey rescuing people from enslavement, and terrorism
Reason 4: Gol D Roger laughed and cried when he got to the end of the world because while he was one of the D. Family and the inheritor of Joy Boy’s will he did not possess the Devil Fruit needed to become the great liberator, he cried because he couldn’t complete his goal, but laughed because he knew then that someone could and would proving that his goal was not crazy and was attainable.
Reason 5: Shanks carried on Rogers will and waited for the opportunity to steal the needed devil fruit, then hand delivered it to Luffy “by accident”
Reason 6: Despite Luffy’s selfishness in some ways, in truth whenever it really counts Luffy sacrifices his own safety to liberate anyone who needs it.
Among all other things, this makes the most sense.
@KaKaRroT He could be influenced by Garp a bit and wants to free everyone from crimes
BUT why would roger who is almost dead say the same thing?
he said I'LL BE
not I'LL FREE
A 7 year old Luddy couldn't think if that
No
My favorite thing about Roger is the myth vs reality. His reputation as king of pirates is known all around the world and revered as this legendary person. In reality he's really goofy and relatable. He is super approachable and seems to befriend any and all walks of life.
My favorite thing about roger is probably how even at deaths door he was filled with some sort of positivity, its really inspiring
the strong decide when they die
Man you put work into this
Well said
Also he said that music is one of the most important things in a pirate crew. Which is also the most important thing to a party. I think in the end he just wants to have fun with everyone and partying is the most fun he can have.
Same honestly, this makes too much sense for it not to be true.
But of course time will tell.
Can't wait for the ending with the whole world cheering while Bink's sake plays 🤧
My favourite thing about Roger is how kind he seemed to be. Always smiling, positive and making the most out of his journey.
The panel of Roger laughing is truly fantastic. Such a great scene.
Exactly. They are pretty much the same person except different times.
I think it was just revealed to us in 1049. With that being “A world where everyone eats.” It explains Yamatos reaction perfectly and is very plausible for Luffy.
But he says I want to be... so it wouldn't be "I want to be a world where everyone eats" it just doesn't make sense
@@sathvikrach1776 could be something like “I want to be the man that lets every person in the world eat”
@@sathvikrach1776 it was revealed in chapter 1049 to be that he wants to create a world where his friends can eat as much as they want
Isn't he referencing Otama?
Hah, uhhhhhhhhhh didnt happen
He is always shown to be especially grateful to people who feed him/others for free when he is/they are hungry:
*Sanji feeds a starving Gin after he's kicked out for being broke, Luffy avidly wants Sanji as his cook
*Luffy is livid with Zoro for beating up all the Bounty Hunters in Whiskey Peak who fed them
*Luffy is grateful to Koza's father in Alabasta, who worked hard just to get Luffy some water from the Oasis
*Luffy forgives Hatchan for his past misdeeds just for some Takoyaki
*Rebecca feeds Luffy with her last bit of money, Luffy immediately forgives her for trying to kill him
*Otama feeds Luffy her only rice bowl. This leads to Luffy exposing himself just to beat the crap out of guys wasting Oshiruko at Kaido's party. All just because of how much Otama loved Oshiruko
I mean, for a long while during Wano it seemed like his drive to free the country was just as much doing it for the Red Scabbards as it was for allowing "everyone to eat as much as they want" as Luffy stated himself
Why would yamato cry hearing that lol
@@TheXxXxDeathAngelxXx Because it would've been the same thing that Roger said, that Oden heard and wrote down in his journal?
@@TheXxXxDeathAngelxXx well Yamato was most likely starved by Kaido most of her life so hearing Luffy’s words would have some meaning to her.
Because
1. It's the words of the pirate King, and she realizes Luffy truly is a worthy successor to him
2. She has likely been desperate for food at points in her life, and the series has shown numerous times that starvation is a very real and horrendous reality some characters face
3. It's a pure and harmless goal. Despite the ridiculousness of it, it makes too much sense and is ultimately something only someone as pure and foolish as Luffy or Roger would strive for
it would also make sense for Yamato to cry due to the state of the country she lives in
well this aged like fine wine
The best the thing about Roger is his mystery. The fact that he was revealed so late and kept Secret was a brilliant and very Patient move by Oda.
DUDE, CHAPTER 1049 JUST CONFIRMED THIS! IT WAS IS DREAM ALL ALONG: "I want to create a world where my friends can eat as much as they want!"
My favorite thing about Roger is that he is still something else, an unknown, maybe not as much as he used to be but I feel there are definitely world shaking secrets about Roger that I am just waiting to hear.
Nearly 30 years after this story was crafted at that. Oda is a special artist/writer.
My favourite thing about Roger is that originally he didn't have a mustache, he only had really really long nose hair
My favorite thing about roger is his charisma, his drive. He basically embodies the pirate everyone wants to be in onepiece
would you say its about drive? its a about power? he stays hungry, but he also devours?
@@amoose7663 :I
@@amoose7663 do you think he puts in the work AND the hours? Most importantly, does he takes whats ours?
@@deepspace385 I would go even further and say pirate king and freedom in his veins, his culture is bangin’ with strange, dare I say…
Luffy and Roger: "I want everyone to be free to eat as much meat as they want, so I don't have to share any of mine"
Man, weren't you 10 months ahead of your time!
Great work Liam
I guess I have to become a member of the fleet now
Welcome aboard! ;D
His playful attitude when he went to fight against Oden. I felt like that moment really highlighted how alike Luffy and Roger are.
I admire how he trusted Garp with the knowledge that he had a son and went so far as to ask him to take care of him.
i mean, it's not like he could have told rayleigh from inside impel down
I think "I want to live forever" is a good answer, Sun wukong who Luffy is based off of went on a journey to search for immortality in mythology.
Can't be, luffy said to lucci that he wouldn't want to live a long life.
@@stonemaddness that, and also roger turned himself in, knowing he’d die, so that kind of defeats both cases
@@stonemaddness he said that becuase of G2, but the life decrease of G2 for present Luffy doesn't exist.
Far fetch and probably stupid. Luffy was never shown to be a guy to harbor such dreams.
My favorite thing about Rodger is that even in his adult age, he still has the child-like love for adventure!
Honestly, I can't see this not happing now. Luffy's dream of having a massive party with all the races in the world, like you said makes so much sense. I can't wait for the confirmation and will make the ending of the series all the more satisfying.
I don’t see it being Luffy’s dream
More like big moms dream
My favorite thing about Roger is his endless energy, drive, and force. He's like Luffy but with all the experience of his journey and the power to achieve it. He's confident and brash but has the power to back up his words, I respect that.
He was just too early
You thinking about Rocks?
@@thembelanimiya9017 indeed I am!
@@xum0007 especially considering Rodger was a pirate for 30+ years while Luffy has less than a year at sea
@@random3x70 wow it feels like it should be at least 5 years
i think Luffy’s dream is “I want to be able to make everyone live and eat freely”, which does coincide with Luffy wants to be free and how he always save people/country free from tyranny in every arc. plus, Roger somehow managed to achieve this dream because his death creates the Great Age of Piracy, which results in tons of pirate went crazy and do whatever they want.
then, yamato’s reaction would make so much sense. but I’m not sure why Ace reacted annoyed(?) or why he said don’t laugh at Luffy’s dream.
yes it does
Look at Artur oharas 8 episode theory about the Void century and One Piece.
Last episode is available next week.
tru
@@ImAviex I agree the party one makes a lot of sense especially since they literally party after they leave each island and the end of each arc.
My favorite thing about Roger were his final words. A man who everyone knew of, but knew so little about sparked the greatest story ever.
Roger? I never thought about that before!'
We all know you thought about that before, Roger!
It's the stache bro. Amps his power by 1000000 percent.
With the new episode that came out the parallels aren’t just theory anymore, this video aged phenomenally
I love how carefree Roger is. It really gives us the amazing parallels between Luffy and Roger.
Congratulations, this this theory set sailed
Personally I think it's
"I want to be everybody's friend"
And "I will be everybody's friend."
Friendship and companions are fundamental cores of both Luffy and Rodgers being.
Who came here after chapter 1060?
The best thing about Roger is definetly his positive attitude and his laugh, It always makes me feel less stressed.
My favorite thing about Roger is even though he was dying he always seemed so hopeful and positive. I also get a kick out of every time I remember his mustache was originally supposed to be just really long nose hairs.
My favourite thing about Roger is Roger. His whole self. The way he smiles and laughs even when he was being executed. Totally love him!
Who's here after chapter 1060?
This is actually genius. It also explains why ace was so worried that he blurted it out
My favorite thing about Roger is his unshakable determination and the look in his eyes, that look of someone that can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. He is absolutely fierce.
My favorite thing about Roger is his execution. Seeing him smile on death's door was just so badass and made me fall in love with the character.
1. Food
2. His friends
Therefore Luffy's dream is "I want to be the man who creates a world where everyone can eat as much as they like.
I think it was Mihawk who said that about Luffy's power.
my favourite thing about roger is his character; the way he acts and carries himself. hes silly and carefree but can get down to business when he needs to, much like luffy. also his updated wano design is imo one of the best in the series! merry christmas everyone
The way he prevents himself and his carelessness about things make him such a dynamic character and he really cares about his crew.
My favorite thing about Roger is his design. There’s something so simple yet so iconic about his design.
Its such a quintensential pirate design as well, it must have been hard to make it both iconic and cliche enough to look piratey
I what to being want to be the one.
My favorite thing about Roger is his response to knowing his death was imminent. His bravery and willingness to live in the moment and enjoy the adventure is so inspiring.
