I think this is my favorite one yet! And that is saying something because I haven't disliked a single video from this channel. THANK YOU MY ANALOG JOURNAL FOR ALL THE BEST JAMS
Nice set indeed. Predominantly UK funk and Soul. Hi Tension, Soho Phaze, The UFO Stolen aMoments and Freeeze did it for me! From a Londoner who lived and breathed this music when it first came out and is now admiring people like yourself keeping da’ fires burning. Big up to you Sista 🙏🏽
Loving Laani's tastes in music, right in my lane. Thank you for sharing, there is something very engaging about watching her work. The love of the music is so apparent, this is not the easiest combination of genre and sub genre to mix live on the wheels of steel , so good job and lets not get bogged down in the technicalities. The main thing here is we got to hear the tunes and not the loops, samples and tricks of the digital format which if I'm honest I am pretty bored by and lets face it can be taught pretty easily to most people. I like Laani because she understands the music on a deeper level and its that which drives her selections something that often escapes the headline so called world DJ's. Just take a look at the pre Miami GP DJ'ing last weekend, self indulgent, depressing stuff indeed! For me there is a fundamental that to a large degree has been lost in the gimmicks of the digital age of live DJ'ing; simply put, "Its Still All About The Music Stupid" Laani embraces that truth very well indeed. Keep up the great work Laani.
I'm not sure if this comment is a real human response or some sort of /r/IAmVerySmart AI generator. True, the music choice of all the guests is great, but in a lot of these sets mixing part is simply not there at all. And it's quite sad, I listened to a lot of analog skillfully mixed sets. Either the guests are not skilled enough, don't care about mixing, or they are just music collectors with no interest in mixing music.
@@beo757 Hi Andrej, No my friend I'm not a bot and I've mixed music in the UK and Europe through the 80's 90's and into the 00's cut my teeth in analogue when speed and pitch control and cross fader's and if you were really cutting edge bpm counters etc. These were just about the only tools in the box. I relied on understanding and memory of what can be mixed or segway'd with what and a deep acquired knowledge of the vastly different and varied genres and sub genre's in my repertoire from Disco through House, Garage and Hip hop Jazz Funk etc.and all the sub genre's within them. These were the tools in the DJ's box. As Digitally produced EDM dominated the club scene, so has the reliance on powerful software based digital mixing and the over use of presentation effects tools. In my opinion a lot of punters are being conned into believing in or even differentiating creativity from the power of the system and the point of difference not being the music but the users ability to exploit the technology. Essentially there is little in the way of variation in the clubs these days, point of difference usually comes from the range of effects available. I find this lazy and boring very quickly but also saddening that club music in general is so constrained by the absence of difference, its pretty much amorphous. What I'm saying about Lanni is I can look past the technical deficiencies of the the presenter in this video and instead enjoy her deeper appreciation and knowledge of the genre's she brings to the turntables. Its nothing deeper than that and I don't think this channel really majors on analogue mixing skills as much as getting people to listen to more and different music.
@@beo757 Oh come on! It's not about getting the mixing perfect, that's not what DJing is really about. It's really about playing some music in an order that takes you on a journey from one spot to another and makes the mix greater than the sum of its parts! And by that definition I say Laani has done a brilliant set here. She can trainwreck the odd track, as long as they're both killers who cares, and that they certainly are!
@@Gez492 Well bloody said. As a digital DJ, I love what it can bring to the table, effects and all that, but ultimately it's about sticking one track after the other! And if you don;t have your own musical taste that comes through then no amount of effects or perfectly synced mixes are gonna let you do what Laani did in this set.
I recently discovered this channel and I love all dj sets! Thank you for keeping me company when I work and study for college. My days wouldn't be the same ❤
Lovely records, that said, I would have loved to see you get to know your records and find the ones that work together so you can beat match them and provide more of a journey.
Hey all, enjoy!

Fantastic mix. I just rediscovered the “African Dance” track. I made a mix of Afro influenced tracks from the 80s-90s This one fit perfectly.
I needed a new mix set to bump at least once a day. This was it. Thank you Laani
