Gareth Southgate admits England are struggling to deal with Euro 2024 pressure

Gareth Southgate admitted underperforming England are struggling to cope with the pressure after the Euro 2024 hopefuls were booed at the end of a dismal draw with Denmark.
Speaking in a press conference after his side drew 1-1 in Frankfurt on Thursday (20 June), Southgate said: “We’ve got to go and analyse that in-depth and find some solutions to addressing the issues that we have. Over the next few days we’ll spend a lot of time doing that.
“We know the level has to be higher, we know the level can be higher.
“Maybe the biggest thing is we have to accept the environment that we’re in and the expectations that are around us. We are going to have to walk towards that challenge.”

I feel like Southgate is a golf manager put to manage one of the best football teams in the world, who has only watched football on tv before this job.

They are not one of the best football teams in the world. Man for man they are not better than the other European players - they are weaker.
In the premier league they are carried on the shoulders of international players and they gain plaudits for achievements of their mostly international teammmates. When you put them together and isolate the English elements in the premier league teams it is obvious that to a man they almost all lower the performance of the teams they represent versus if they did not play and their space was filled by an international player.

@jonnybingham1 ofcourse you don't have Roberto Carlos on left back but the problem is not the players.. England is a team with players wayyy above and avarage, with many alternatives on the bench. A good manager should make a team and a player shine on the pitch, if not at least put on the right starting 11. But I can agree that in premier league the teams are being somewhat also carried by "foreign" coaches, so if England had someone with better coaching I would've enjoyed the matches that I'm watching.
