There is no legitimate reason this thing should be costing $4,000. Lower the price to $2,000 you would literally make millions of dollars. If a company ever made a consumer version of a drone like this they would become the new DJI people want longer flight times we are seriously frustrated with 20 minute flight times. Longer flight time is in high demand

Plus there is no competition so profit margin can be that tiny bit larger. The brushless motor for the generator used here is $1.5K alone...

Well done! One of the issues with 2 stroke engines is low reliability and high maintenance. Do you use diaphragm or injectors for the fuel? What is the cost to replace the petrol motor complete?
if you use good oil, and air filters, don't use ethanol fuels or fuels with dirt in them and you'd be surprised.. most 2 cycle failures come from these simple things.. For instance the ethanol splits in the engine crank and water builds up which corrodes it. most reliability issues on any 2 cycle system stems from operator error.

It might have to be moved to a more central location.. It's a cool project though. You could probably surround the generator with some lightweight carbon fiber plates to soften the noise. Maybe even some sort of noise deadening foam or fabric. I suppose once you're up 300 feet, it's not really much of a big deal.

this kind of drone normally doesn't work under an altitude of 50 m, and normally goes to a range over 20 km,so you won't hear it. you can buy the MP version which is only powered by lipo battery.

Numbers don't add up 2000 watts applying ohms law to get 48 volts only gives 41.6 amps not 50 as described strange

the cost for maintenance is not high ,less than 100 usd at every 50 hrs cycle. a well maintained petrol engine can work well for thousands of hours.
