- This turned out to be a very unexpected intense run through a small canyon. Couldn't help but squeal like a child on the waterfall rappels. The four rappels of Benson Creek Canyon can be mild to wild depending on the flow. Looking back, it would be wise to top down belay for the first person down, its amazing how hard the water hits.
Benson Creek Canyon is absolutely worth the walk up (700ft). We thought we'd have some scrambling to deal with but we pretty much stayed on a trail the entire way. Great way to spend half a day, especially when the heat down in lower elevations is in the triple digit stage. We didn't need wetsuits but wearing windbreakers did take the chill off and by the time we finished the last rappel, walking out was awkward with numb feet. Might be something to think about in cooler temps.

We will be there in two weeks. We will be using wet suits. Our bodies are acclimated to AZ weather, so better safe than hypothermic.

That looks incredible. I definitely wanna try my first acticely flowing canyon this year. Question for you...your gloves are rubber souled? Why that over leather?
I just prefer leather gloves in dry canyons, leather gets a little gnarly after getting wet repeatedly.
