Love doing Cobble Hill puzzles along with White Mountain and Springbok because they are random cut. We find them more challenging than the ribbon cut. Johnie we enjoy all your videos. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
I have done 100's of Springbok as I prefer random cuts over standard all one shapes. I will keep my eyes peeled at thrift store for now for Cobble Hills. I don't know how you did the pieces in the box. That drives me crazy. I HAVE to have all the pieces on the table. Even if I am working with a small space I just make piles of the colors when sorting. Then as soon as I have conquered enough piles and can spread the rest out, I do. Love seeing how other people strategize so thanks for doing a detailed explanation of yours! Are you going to watch any of the World Speed Puzzling this week?? I will watch them mostly delayed and not live as due to time zones some rounds are at 3 a.m. local time. YIKES!! But anyway, Thanks for the entertainment!!
100% chance I will watch ALL the individual comps. I am excited to see the puzzle selection and all. Like you, some of them I'll have to watch later because of my schedule but I will watch all of them!!
I've done enough 300 and 500 piece puzzles to have an idea of piece size based on the piece count and completed size. So wheneever I buy a puzzle, I checked that for that information. When I first started doing puzzles, I did Bits and Pieces puzzle which are random cut. As I got more experience I prefer the standard cut. I think it's easier to sort by piece shape with standard cut than random. But, with random cut it a little easier to see where the piece goes. Plus, I've never had false fits with a random cut puzzle.
True. I didn't have a lot of false fits so far in 8-9 months. It seems to be rare and from poor quality puzzle brands. I could be wrong but it's been good so far!
Nice! I don't always do this but want to recommend... if puzzle piece size matters and makes the puzzle more or less enjoyable, you can check the dimensions of the finished puzzle. Sometimes that will give a clue to the piece size if it's not shown on the box. Happy puzzling!
Thanks! After reading the comments I noticed the size of the piece is smaller on the box of the 1000 pieces so thanks for the info!! I'll pay more attention next time.
@@JigsawJohnie It's crazy how many factors there are in every puzzle! I tend to stick with a few brands. You're brave for trying and actually finishing so many puzzles that are new to you! My favorite brands are Ceaco, Pomegranate, Ordinary Habit, and Schmidt.
@@hopejstone Do you ever care about the glossy or matte finish? I worked on a tricky one this week and it was the first time I really had a problem with the light. I'll show you in my next video this weekend. let me know if you have any thoughts about this.
Great video! I love that you are doing Halloween puzzles. I have a 500 piece Cobble Hill puzzle that I have done like 4 times. I absolutely love how you are putting your videos together with the voice over. I am looking forward to you putting together the next puzzle.
This too was my first Cobble Hill speed puzzle as I had thought that the image would be "easy" but boy was I wrong! I was constantly looking at the box. It did prepare me for my first in person speed puzzling event a few days later, where I happened to get my 2nd 500 piece Cobble Hill called Seed Packets - whose image was way easier to puzzle and would be a good "spring" puzzle to do if you can get your hands on it!
I love Cobble Hill puzzles but hate Springbok. The Springbok has such poorly cut pieces, even looking at the comparison of the pieces you had there, you can see how rough the edges are. I love that Halloween puzzle you done, it’s so colourful.
You are right about that. When I was editing the video I realized the rough edges. And really I remember when I sorted the Springbok I had a bunch of pieces stuck together, REALLY stuck.
Fun puzzle! I find table space management tricky with the Cobble Hill 500 pc as they are all the larger piece size. I find the puzzle trays or more sorting helps me manage my space, especially if practicing in the more restricted space of a speed competition. Are you going to the Regional regional speed puzzle competition in October in Repentigny, Quebec?
Two questions: 1. Didn't I see a poster on the inside of the box? I am wondering because of the Cobble Hill logo blocking the bottom right of the image on the box lid. 2. Do you have a box top holder? Thx! A big fan of yours.
Yes I have a poster but I didn't use it lol never crossed my mind oups!! No I dont have a box holder but I should get one later, I see these all the time, seems like a good thing to have!
@JigsawJohnie There are several to choose from. I like the plastic one that Karen and others use. It has a slot for the box top and a slot for the poster to lean against the box top if there is a poster.
Your Halloween Cobble Hill candy 500 pc puzzle should have come with a poster as this puzzle is a new release in 2023. Cobble Hill has a puzzle warranty if the original owner of the puzzle experiences a puzzle issue.
Are you going to watch the World Jigsaw Puzzle Federation championship this week in Spain? The run it live and post the videos on youtube for each day. I'd love to see your commentary. Thanks for the content!
Oh yes I will watch on my free time, I'm mostly interested in the individual rounds. Cant wait to see the puzzle selection! Maybe I'll do a reaction video at the end of the week or something! Thanks for the comment!
On the front of the box of your puzzle is a picture of a puzzle piece. I may be mistaken but I believe that tells you the size of the pieces inside.
OMG you are so right!! I just compared my 2 Cobble Hill boxes and you can see the difference!! Oh well, I'll know for the next time!
I'm loving these Halloween puzzles!! You chose well. Love Cobble Hill. Vermont Christmas Co is another good brand. I love random cut puzzles
Working on the VCC this week, should post the video next Sunday!

Hey Johnie, It’s a fun one with all the candies. A lot going on lol. Yes lots of orange. Great job puzzle friend.TFS 👍😊I can’t wait for the new one.
Thank you for the visit! More to come :)
I love watching your videos!
Thank you so much!
Another fun one!
I love that Cobble Hill has different shaped pieces! I've been trying to buy more of that brand because they're Canadian!
I didn't even know it was Canadian!! Thanks for sharing :) It was a fun one and I look forward to do the 1000 pieces Aloha later this winter!

I don't think so but maybe in the near future I should try to attend some events. Should be fun to try the real thing and also meeting people.
Hi friend
Hey hey!!
Two questions: 1. Didn't I see a poster on the inside of the box? I am wondering because of the Cobble Hill logo blocking the bottom right of the image on the box lid. 2. Do you have a box top holder? Thx! A big fan of yours.

What do you use for your puzzle table?
It's just a normal kitchen table from Ikea, had it for a long time so I cant remember the exact model or price.

It has a poster inside yes. I just didn't think of using it in the moment 😂

I'll be watching too! There will be 8 unreleased puzzles at Worlds for semi and finals.
@@JigsawJohnie Love the idea of a reaction video!
We’ll be watching too! Wouldn’t miss it. ❤
