If you Remember when the Indian government banned Chinese apps in 2020 over data privacy there 2 big giants who got kicked out of India, one was TikTok the fastest-growing social media platform and the other was a legendary fashion brand that we all know today as Shein!!! And if you Shein is just another fashion brand look at this, Zara and H&M are the most successful fast fashion brands in the world!!
In 2024, while Zara with 2200 stores generated a revenue of 29.1 billion dollars, H&M with 4300 stood at 22 billion dollars where as Shein alone has generated a revenue of $48 billion USD by 2024. So Shein generates almost the same revenue as H&M and Zara combined that too without a single store in the world!!!!! And now shein is in India to wage a fast fashion war against the most formidable brands like Zara, H&M, zudio and Snitch!!! Its not just Shein the mammoth but Shein the mammoth with the godfather of Indian business who goes by the name Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani!!!

I don't understand the hypocrisy here, on one hand Ambanis say that they want to support sustainability and protect the environment via projects like 'VANTARA', and on the other hand, they are getting into the fast fashion, which is one of the world's most polluted industry.

Yep whenever I visit trends or reliance store they provide cheap quality clothes so I always prefer local branded malls or other branded malls for clothes they have good quality clothes as compared to reliance at same prices 😊
I dont like ultra fast fashion. but i have to disagrre about quality of trend products. trend stores do provide quality product for middle class. under 1500-2500 i think they have the best products. and it has been like this for at least last 6 months. maybe , before2,3 years they were crap, but not now.

I live in the USA and have ordered some clothes from shein, the quality of the products are like paper towels after 2-3 washes😅. I bought some clothes from India before 5 years and still they last good, even the cheapest Tshirts from team spirit.
Recently my parents sent me some clothes from the westside and one of the best quality compared to the US brands. Some of my friends here order shein for a tour and after the tour they trash them or use in the kitchen 😂

We Indian citizens are trying to avoid Chinese products and these multinational companies and billionaires just to earn more profits, are willing to sell Chinese products to us just by rebranding the company and sprinkling little nationalism, just to earn more profits.
Even more, the second order effects of cheap Chinese products getting into India will eventually drive out Indian cloth companies because they won't be able to even touch the Chinese prices. And thus Reliance again becomes a monopoly in clothes sector also, just like in telecom.
Sadly the loop goes on and on.
The only ones suffering will be Indian businesses initially and then the consumers once it becomes a monopoly.
Shein will operate purely as a technology partner, with Reliance maintaining full ownership of the platform through its subsidiary. The arrangement requires all customer data to be stored in India, with Shein having no access rights. These clothes will be made in India.

Reliance Apparels will control everything, starting from making to marketing, everything will be done in India under Reliance Apparels. Do you know, that Trump (US President) is a real estate mogul in the US? Do you know how many Trump Towers we have in India? No idea, right? Trump just lets use his name for branding, while he has no ownership. All the dealers, workers are from India. Here Shein is working like that. Just like PUBG mobile was taken over by Krafton India ( South Korean gaming industrialist) and relaunched as Battleground India. In Krafton India, employees are Indian.
I bought a wallpaper today via Flipkart. When I was searching for a good and affordable one, I saw cute-looking wallpapers for 85 rupees. Went to see the country of origin, it was from China. I immediately looked for a different one and found one, a little more pricey but Made in India, and bought it. Try this if you want to support local brands. If we don't consume local brands, they won't be able to compete. If you are using a Lenevo laptop, stop because that's a Chinese brand. Go for Primebook, an Indian laptop brand. I haven't used it to say how it works, but certainly you would might have a look. Let's support Indian brands everywhere, let's make others aware about this too.

I live in slums of Bombay, my almost brother lost his tailoring business due to lack of work available in the city, because Ambani shipped them to Gujrat. They have planning for years now its the execution part. They shouldn't use Shien as a face instead started with their own or buy the tech or figure out their own. There is hate towards them now. Hope they come out with some "Zain" collection

In India, Shein is just a brand label. All products on Shein India is just from Reliance.
Being an old user of Shein in India, the catalogue of product is stale and boring. Which is exactly opposite of what Shein is known for.
You can still check that using products on Shein India and Shein US.
