Big Stihl fan as well. My first saw was the 039 Farm Boss. Then I picked up the 391 when I had a 2 saw job coming up, and followed that up with the arborist saw. I also have the complete Combi set of tools with an 095, and a 130 power head.

Another really enjoyable video. One suggestion for anyone burning timber, get a moisture meter. An extra 6 months seasoning might make the difference between 20% and 15% no comparison while burning. Totally different heat output.

I agree Adrian. I cut a fair bit of hardwood for our 2 stoves. I have a big saw and a smaller mid range one. I use my MS 231 for most of my stuff but when I've got some real heavy stuff, out comes my big girl. Husky 365, brilliant saw and hasn't missed a beat in 15 years....but heavy! 💪

You've got to love it! Your 150 hp $200k log splitter beats it all, and a 2nd tractor to haul it. One usually starts with a cheap usually free, wood stove to save heating costs, well maybe create a cosy mood. Then a chain saw and the clothing. Now one needs a cheap pickup truck to haul the timber. Then comes the winch to drag out this cheap source of heat from the woods, most of the trees are in swampy areas and only when the ground freezes can you get in there. Cable too short, a cheap tractor to drag out the logs is needed. The wood lot is too far from the house to drive the tractor so a trailer is needed to haul the tractor, but it can also carry logs, good idea. You now have 8foot logs piled 4feet high and 50-100 feet along your fence line, neighbours complain to the local authorities. Get it out of sight you are told. Right, cut the logs into average stove lengths, 16-24" stove dependent, and split and stack them. where? No problem, apply for a building permit and build a wood shed or why not, a future garage. Splitting is such a chore, our logs are much bigger and so many more of them than yours that we need not only a wood splitter but why not get a wood processor for just a few thousand dollars more, then, firewood could be sold from the end of the driveway. You can see how far this can continue to go on.
I haven't seen any large rows of logs at your beautiful place, nor have I seen a firewood for sale sign at your farm gate. My hat's off to you, you are ahead of the game, well done. I hear that there is money to be made in wood pellets, will your splitter also press out pellets?

Adrian great video. When you put those big rings on the splitter you’ll see why the single lever is the best. Another thing I noticed with yours is the splitter wedge is about half as thick as the malone log splitter is highly recommend you make that wedge wider and the splitting will be way more easier than it is now..
I really enjoy your videos I’m a mayo man living in California. Stay safe and god bless. 🙏

    • @IFarmWeFarm

We cut up most of them big rings yesterday with it, with the big table it worked like a dream, I wouldn’t swap them levellers for the world, u have to use them to see how handy they are and that quick return is awesome. I also think the splitter wedge is the perfect width too. Everyone different though but the beauty with Carroll’s is they will build what ever you request so, there’s nothing they can’t do. Thanks for watching lad, Mayo for Sam maybe this year 🤞🤞hope your keeping safe and well over there 👍👍

Great video Adrian, a fine log splitter, just a idea, ur hose connections to tractor, if u put the return a non-restricted return, (not through valve chest) on massey's there's place's to put in fittings, non-restricted returns will save external chest on log splitter. Mechanic told me to do it years ago, I put one on for my tractors for log splitter, road sweeper n hedgecutter.

I love that bin! There is another handy product, you probably wont need it since you cut your logs so short. Its called Woodcutters helper, its a magnet with a fiber rod to attach to the chainsaw blade it helps you getting the same length on every cut. If you google woodcutters helper it should come up on the first links from ebay a little costly in my opinion might be you could use one of those telescopic magnets mechanics use to pick up screws instead im not sure at least they are under half the price.

I'd suggest having the log splitter raised level with the tipsy bin and then all you'd have to do is push / swipe the logs into the bin rather than lifting them all the time. That bit higher would also be better on the back. Bit higher to lift logs onto though, I'd admit. Cracking machine all the same.

Great video, really enjoying your channel. One potential problem I can see with that splitter is if the wedge/blade gets wedged or caught in a log and lifts with it on the return stroke could it come up and bend the handles or worse trap your hand if it was on the handle, maybe there should be a guard to stop a log coming up to meet the handle. I know it would want to be well stuck into a knot or a twist but it could happen. Other than that it looks like a great bit of kit and well built.

Some hassle with needing 2 hands to move it up and down, sometimes you'll get timber that "pops" if ya get me and its nearly safer to hold onto it incase it flies somewhere it shouldn't 😬

It kinda something you need to actually use to see how easy it really is, yes them bigger logs all pop and fly, but if you position the logs a certain way it only flys out to the sides. Important rule to protect the tool 😜

@@IFarmWeFarm I have used it like that, didn't take long for the second handle to be blocked up with a small piece of timber 😂 dont tell the HSA 🤫 that's true about positioning it so it only goes out the sides, only a fool doesnt protect his tool as they say
