Just had my 25'x25' pergola redone from a deteriorating roof done in Suntuf polycarbonate corrugated roof panels about 15 years ago. They eventually failed. My contractor replaced it with the Apollo Pergola cover system in tinted bronze. It's an absolutely fantastic roof!
I recently purchased ten 4' x 4' Apollo panels for my patio. My rafters are exactly 24 inches apart. Do you recommend installing purlins so I will not have to rip panels to size? I was thinking of installing 1" x 2" treated strips for the purlins. What would you suggest?
Apollo System Basics. Hail Resistance: The sheets are guaranteed for hail up to ¾” in diameter penetrating even a single layer. Anything larger than that should be covered by your homeowner's insurance. Wind Durability: For customers living along the coast or areas prone to high winds, we recommend our Hercules System as it is more durable with less structural support. @@CoverYourPergola Span = the space between the rafters/joists. The answer is typically 12”, 16”, 24” or 36” depending on the thickness of the plastic. What is the maximum span of the plastic? Worded in another way: what is the maximum spacing of the joists/rafters before the plastic begins to sag?

Yes the purlins will help but we suggest going with 2x2 purlins minimum. The 1x2 will just have the screws go right through them.

That pergola appears to be totally flat? I was told a slope is required for runoff.
We do highly recommend a minimal slope of 4% for our Apollo system and a 2% for our Hercules system.

Quite opposite. Our covers are able to withstand 125 MPH winds and are fixed to the pergola itself.

Apollo comes in 4' ad 6' wide sheets. They used a combo: 6', 4', 4' & 6'

What % of fall is required for a 12' long slope?
For the Hercules system there needs to be a minimum slope of 2% and for the Apollo system the minimum is 4%.
