    I grew up in Japan my whole life, and we used to see Typhoons and Monsoons like I never experienced in America --bar some times in Pennsylvania and rarely in New York. When the eye of the storm reached us back home in JP, I'll never forget walking out of my house to see what looked like a beautiful, sunny day. Then the incredibly powerful torrential rain and wind came back seemingly as fast as it had gone. I've been on many planes in my life, quite a few through some choppy, dicey ass weather. But nothing, nothing even remotely close to what these absolute legends did. Its just so unbelievable to see it, I guess you really gotta be there.

    I had absolutely NO clue how amazing the eye of a hurricane looked. I knew that when they showed images of hurricanes on maps that it definitely had a ring in the middle called the eye. And i figured that there would be some type of opening there, but i had no idea the opening was this big and that gorgeous. I'm from Texas, so while we've been hit by a few hurricanes, being in the northern part of Texas, all we get are really bad and windy thunderstorms. I've got a whole new respect for hurricanes after watching this video. They're as deadly as they are gorgeous and most definitely should be respected...but viewing inside the eye of one of these things was just amazing. Thank you for uploading this for us to see. Very very cool!

      Before our fancy toys, doing routine routes was the only way to know where it was going and how bad it would be, and in all this time we have only lost 6 planes and the crew in 1945 in the south China sea was the only one we ever found the wreckage and even more ironically it was only a CAT 1 cyclone, even with our fancy toys, direction, pressure and wind speed cannot be known but only guessed at so for awhile longer we will need to fly into these cool pieces of nature. People say oh a CAT 1 is no big deal, well there is a very special effect any thunder storm cell can produce and it is the greatest fear of any hurricane hunter, a micro burst, basically a massive off the measurement devices down draft of wind from a cells core that blasts you out of the sky like a payload of bricks. This type of applied science is not safe and this danger no aircraft can make it through winds of 300-800 MPH blowing straight down

    • @maddiesgamingchannel8163
      @maddiesgamingchannel8163 7 років тому

      +Jonathan R.
      You're right , microbursts are a planes worst nightmare, they basically negate the planes lift and cause them to plummet to the ground. There was even a incident that happened with a passenger plane that flew into a mesocyclone blind on approach and flew straight into a microburst and fell to the ground and crashed. After that they tightened down on safety when it comes to storms like mesocyclones and avoid them like the plague now.

    So when are we going to see the follow up video of someone flying into an EF-5 tornado?

    • @godhasjoinedtheserver2860
      @godhasjoinedtheserver2860 8 років тому +3

      dude the tornado will suck up the plane and throw it 1 million miles away they will never try that.

    • @YouOnlyIiveTwice
      @YouOnlyIiveTwice 8 років тому +8

      lol I know I was being sarcastic, but from a physics standpoint it would be interesting. A small little Cessna would get tossed like a toy, but what if something like an SR-71 going mach 2 went through it assuming there's no debris in the tornado for it to hit.

      +Turd Ferguson how about a surface to air weapon of some kimd that can temporarily obliterate the mesocyclonic activity of a cell and its funnel clouds? That is without hurting people in the process of course... For me this does sound too easy to be real.

    I've been fortunate to have experienced and survived being in the eye of the storm at least once. Nope I didn't go there, the storm passed our town in 1983 when I was a kid in Central Philippines. It was calm and fresh, a very unique kind of calmness. But then when the other side came it was worst, the wind blew in the opposite direction from the one prior to the eye and it was stronger. All of our roofs were gone and some walls came down.

      and of course government funding, most forget it is Air Force reserve that do these missions, hurricanes do not do damage on a large enough scale to merit upgrades often, but I am sure within what seems to be old dino systems are newer probes and software systems just the main devices are older which really would not matter, what matters is the probes to release to gather date inside the storm itself

    Aircraft have a speed known as "maneuvering speed." When operated at or below this speed the wing will stall before the structure is subjected to its limiting aerodynamic load. Essentially the wing will stop providing lift if it approaches its maximum load, preventing it from being stressed beyond this point. In the video you can hear the pilot announce his airspeed is at 230 knots, which is likely maneuvering speed for this aircraft.
