A very proud Efik woman here 👌 As a kid I was thought the intricate dance steps of the ekombi dance by my father. It's a tradition that all Efik women know how to dance the ekombi dance. A beautiful, graceful and cool heritage....my pride.
I am from the Igbo tribe but while I was in primary school I was among the student selected to dance the ekombi back then with all the intricate and delicate dance steps and the attire. Till today I love the Efik and Netim dance steps. I can spend hours watching them dance
My culture,my heritage. Each time I watch this video,it reminds me of my late father. He was all the way when it comes to culture with his angelic voice and drumming skills.Rest On Chief.
This is an incredible complex rhythm of drum sounds that I have ever heard. The melody of the lead drummer locks in rhythm with the steps of the dances. The other two drums, the rattle, and the chanting take everything to another level that is just mysterious.
This is completely the age long Ekombi dance of the Efik people of Calabar. The music, drumming, the vocalling, attires and the dancers are all pure Efik custom and culture. This is truly the Ekombi of the Efiks not the choreography by imitators. Incidentally, except you are Efik you won't understand the secret in the dance steps.Although the neighbouring tribes try to copy, the difference is always clear.
@@f.a.archibong251 the neighbouring tribes don't try to copy. But they most likely emigrated from same culture. That's why languages, names and culture are similar
I'm from Spain But i was living in Nigeria in Ibadan When i was a child, i would like to learn ekombi dance. Send me a tutorial video Please. It's so beautiful, Nice, great.
Honestly I too much love my culture and I miss it currently cuz I'm not in the country but I can't wait to go back home, Efik Edi mbakara ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The Efik Eburutu people are part of the lost tribes of the Ephraim family of Israel..The word Hebrew got corrupted over the years to Ebru..Eburu as the sourjouned from the Red sea across Africa. The word Eburutu got derived from Eburu a corruption of Hebrew and Ututu(a town in Afikpo)the Ebrus sojourned at before moving down the River Cross to Arochukwu,Uruan and finally to CALABAR in search of the land of Canaan. That is why Calabar to the Efiks is also. Eyen Efik Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Born in American of Efik parents, I would like to share with my children the customs of our people. I have been gone far too long to understand the meaning of the song. Could you please share. I am isolated from my people, so loss of language. Blessings!

Not all the intricate ma, and not the steps... Except you are saying you have gone through the rituals?
The dancers are so calm while dancing the real Ekombi, not those jumpologist in the name of dancing Ekombi... God bless you my people 👋👋👋👋👋
Did you just say jumpologist 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Only Efik Ebrutu can dance this way: the original Ekombi, so enticing, the sound alone is out of this world.
I miss home so much..beautiful video.

This is exactly like the Oroko people of Cameroon (Balue, Balondo, Bakundu, Ngolo, Batanga, Bakoko etc). Very interesting!!
Blessed Ngoe these people are ejagham (called efik in Nigeria)
Blessed Ngoe, they are the same people separated by boundaries..Calabar shares boundaries with the Orokos of Cameroon..
Nice one
African Child ejagham and efik are two different tribes from the same state. Ejegham don’t dance ekombi, they have their own dance.
