love seeing artists do stuff like this ^^ its something i've been wanting to try myself kinda wanted to start growing all kinds of flowers so i can harvest them to try making inks out of
I might try this! I have a giant black walnut on my property line. Some years, I've gathered 50 - 5 gallon buckets full of those guys. I love the smell of walnuts too! Thanks for the video.😊
Thank you! I need to locate the nearest walnut tree now. When I was a kid, we had several in our yard, and I ended up staining my hands and clothes all the time. And that smell you mentioned... Yeah, you never forget that.
I still wish id have went to the workshop you had like 10 or so years ago. I hope things are going well for you. Still my favorite artists and brush and ink guy.
I made black walnut ink after finding out that I could and i draws like a dream. Now I find one of my biggest painting influences making some? UA-cam Christmas came early.
this is so cool!!! my parents have a black walnut tree and the last few years my dad has been collecting the fruit so he can have the nuts (before the squirrels get all of them lol) maybe next year i'll have him save a few for me to try this! :D thanks for sharing!
Nice. This works to stain clothing. We did tee shirts and the color held very well after running through high heat in the dryer. As always, when dying clothes, if you don't want it dyed don't get it near the dye or the dyed clothes. After the dye is cured it did not bleed in the wash.
@@aldente3868 thank you. And I haven’t had a chance to make lamp black ink yet, but I have a new fire pit this year so it’s possible I’ll get the chance to collect some soot so I can make some 😊
Tip: If you like growing anything in the nightshade family, (Tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, etc.) DO NOT put the spent black wall-nut husks in a compost pile, they contain chemicals which are poisonous to plants in the nightshade family.
This is much healthier for an artist in virtually every way. Your art will come out better in your eyes.
Not sure how this came across my feed, but this is really inspiring :)
@@Seliris thank you so much. I’m thrilled you enjoyed it.

First one, and this is amazing!
Thanks!
Cool craft Jeff!
Someone buying a drawing from you not only gets your art but your ink, too!
Now, you have to make your own paper! 😁

We ran our workshop this year, too. Plus we are running another one in June of 2025. So maybe you can make it to one :-)
@jeffmiracolaartist June is just in time for my birthday.

Very cool. I might try this. I often collect these walnut pods to feed to the squirrels :-)

I love that 🤩
That's so cool!
Have you tried making inks or other artists supplies from anything else you've foraged?
This is awesome!
Do you have a recipe for Lamp Black Ink perchance?

how archival is it, and how does the ink stand up over time? does it fade? thanks.

5:18= This isn't about creating a great drawing...
....Jeff literally creating a drawing he could easily sell for $150.00
