Today I'll be giving you my thoughts and opinions about the 2020 release from Louis Vuitton colognes, California Dream & 2019 release Afternoon Swim.
As many of you know designer brand Louis Vuitton has some hefty price tags on everything that has the "LV" logo on it.
For many it's a sign of clout or being a "baller", for others it's a way to fake it til you make it, or some may view it as a prestigious brand to own.
$1200.00 (USD) or higher for a tote bag, compared to a $265.00 for 100 ml fragrance may not sound quite as bad to some, but is it really worth it?

First! Bro I’ve been enjoying a bunch of Louis Vuitton fragrances lately w afternoon swim being my favorite
Are these gender neutral?? I like the look of California Dream.
I have decants of Afternoon Swim and Sun Song. I favor the AS but combined they are something special
I've not tried California Dreams but have tried the others. Afternoon Swim is a pleasant enough scent and Sun Song is okay but they are not worth the money. If you spray both of these into the air you get a good scent but that makes for one expensive air freshener. Hate to think how much they will charge for a refill.
But ...
I was buying a birthday surprise for my wife last year and was standing next to a middle-aged man at the counter and we got talking about fragrance, I will never forget what he said to me, he held up a bottle and said the reason for buying this was because it reminded him of his honeymoon and because of that, it didn't matter what price he paid for the bottle, and I can't think of a better reason for splashing the cash, can you?
It was $150.00 for Champs De Provence by Eight and Bob if you are interested.

Just tried AS this weekend. The smell is so good! Performance wise, it’s not strong enough for people to get a whiff, so it’s more for close proximity. It did last over night for me, since it’s a Parfum, it seems fair for 100ml for the brand name to be $280. I was close to getting it, but it could be a nice gift. In the TX heat, this fragrance works, but just doesn’t reach the nostrils. Might mix well with molecule 01.
It lasts longer than most of the fresher LV scents. Haven't found a monster projector from them yet, but I did wind up buying a bottle of L'immensite because it's such an easy wear & had been wanting a bottle on the shelf.
Man......these joints be expensive. I’ve never smelled a LV fragrance. Guess I’ll have to see if I can find a decent of one of these thangs. Much love from the 2-6 for the 2-6 brother. Thanks for the video my friend.

Good video. I've tried Afternoon Swim and it was ok...not worth the money for me. And it is not just the overal price tag, but the price tag on these in particular as I own several that don't really go on sale: 2 from the Carolina Herrera Confidential Collection at $265 each, 8 from Armani Prive (for the most part $175-$290 each) and a $350 bottle of Chanel Coromandel.
Enjoyed your take on these Cam , they are some crazy ass designer prices though !! You can get pdm , roja and creed juice for that much coin !!

Afternoon swim is the coldest. I have the big bottle. if you're good at mixing. You can use Kenneth Cole "Energy" up under the Afternoon Swim and it will prolong it and give it a nice lil kick.

Yeah man, it's a nice fragrance & the performance isn't horrible.
I just don't find it unique enough or cheap enough to pull the trigger on it.
That bottle is sick & if I had enough dough to decant enough out to keep the bottle & some juice for myself, I might would do that.

I own the afternoon swim and limmensite. Very simple likeable fragrances. Versatile. Not the best performers but they smell very good

Yeah man, these are nice, simple, easy to wear, but semi-lackluster performance on Afternoon Swim.
If a bit of depth or amboxan could be added to this, it would do better in the elements (where it's needed)

Hi Cam how are u doing? I wonder how is your opinion on California Dream now. Is it still good and pleasant? Sebastian from Smelling Great Frangrance Reviews wasn`t the biggest fan of its drydown (metallic?). So I`m kind of in between the chairs if its worth a try but the next LV store is also quite far away from me. Did your experienced a similar development with California Dream? Thanks!

I personally like it, but I'll be happy to revisit it for you & see if I get a metallic vibe from it.
Certain fragrances that have that metallic vibe are okay with me, while others not so much.
If memory serves me right, it has kind of a musk, floral, and woody dry down, but I'll put some on tonight after I get out of the shower & get back to you

@@CFR_UA-cam Oh yeah. Fortunately I live in Europe so it's a bit less expensive compared to the US prices. Actually, considering LV frags, you should try L'immensite if you haven't. It's nothing completely new but it's kind of a blue fragrance with a unique twist. I typically don't like this genre because it's just too overdone and kind of boring, but I really like how the ambery base of L'immensite balances out the whole composition (e.g. I find Dior Sauvage very agressive and unbalanced). It has a steep pricetag at first but the quality is on point and as more as i wear it the more I find it justified.

I personally quite like the dry down of Cali Dream.
It opens with Mandarin & with a slight resinous vanilla. Then the dry down is a sort of musk ambrette. I don't really get the metallic thing, but all of our noses are different.
I personally think that it's good.

Afternoon Swim has meh performance, but Cali does much better. I get about 7 hours on the Cali & maybe 4 hrs on Afternoon Swim.
Afternoon Swim has a more enjoyable scent profile IMO, but Cali blows the doors off of it on performance

I think people should get over their misconception that designers are supposed to be affordable ,or that niche has to be expensive , its just not the case

It's simply the truth of the matter.
For me the definition of niche fragrances is an actual fragrance house or brand that exclusively makes fragrances. That would also make indie fragrances fall in that category, but I'm a champion of independent businesses & most of these fine people are whipping up batches in their kitchens or man caves, so they deserve their own title in my opinion! 😉
I have Sun Song and can say that none of these summery LV fragrances are worth the money. They are nice, as you say, but not THAT nice. 🙂Hope you're doing well, need to catch up on my YT videos.
